I believe there is a misunderstanding. It's true a game does not need a big budget to be good. But coming from what Square Soft used to be as I mentioned in my first post "No one takes them serious anyone.."

And I can understand why they'd feel that way, if it wasn't for certain IP's like FF and KH, One could confuse them for a Indie developer, which again, is not a bad thing. But people don't expect that from them considering there huge backgrounds, Once known as the "King of RPG's".....

Well no company has ever reamain in the top forever, and Square is no exception.
Well i can expect any type of game from any company, because you're/used to be a big company doesn't mean you have to do blockbuster AAA games 24/7.

I suppose so, but go to any Square Enix related post on general news and all it contains are insults, comedy posts and memes of "Please Be excited".

It's quite depressing you know...

Like most Japanese developers, Squarenix had issues making the switch to HD. Especially since they decided their biggest selling point is beautiful, cinematic games (say want you want about XIII but it was so pretty). I don't know exactly what it is about HD games that's so much harder aside from not being able to leave things alone (because there are fewer file size/polygon limitations?), but that's what I've noticed. The PS3 being hard to develop for only made things harder. And that's Sony's fault.

But I don't mind if the non-FF/KH series are visually stuck a couple generations behind, as long as they get some attention. It's better than freemium phone games, and simple graphics have some advantages over realistic ones (clarity for one).

It's hard not to make fun of them when they seem so horribly out of touch with what people want, though. Atlus apparently drinks the salty tears of its fanbase for sustenance, but SE is even crueler than they are when it comes to trolling... and they act totally oblivious about it...

Now that you mention it, I should clarify. No all the games does not have to have FF/KH visuals and budgets. For example it being like Tales of Xillia in budget and on homes consoles that would be wonderful, even more titles like the Bravely Series and SaGA 2015 will suffice.

Just enough of the mobile and F2P stuff that have everyone turning the company into a joke...

The core issues with Square Enix last generation boiled down to an outdated development model that was not suitable for HD development and terrible team management. FFXV probably could have still been a PS3 game if these things were addressed. They just simply had a terrible business model. Failure to address the core issues can cause many setbacks and wasteful spending. Crystal Tools was also a terrible engine too.

And creating HD assets take longer to make now. The number of them have increased and so have the details. Many companies address this by hiring more people with specialized roles, merging teams together and outsourcing (which is pretty common).

But mobile is where all the $$$ is at.

A bigger part of why so many people think SE is a joke is that they continually demonstrate a disregard for their own consumer base/fan base.

That's also part of what makes them interesting though. :p
