Actually announcing a release date a year in advance is very common at E3. If the game comes out late 2016, announcing the release date at E3 2016 is way too late, and if it's early 2016... they can't announce it at that year's E3. This year's E3 is ideal for a 2016 release window reveal. Plus, they skipped E3 last year, I think they need to make a big presence at E3 this year, there's no better way of doing that then announcing a release window of some kind. With a demo only a few weeks away, there's not much they can surprise fans with at E3, they need to do something big.
Maybe it's the surprise in the end of the demo Tabata-san mentioned, but I highly doubt that.
So what do you think this "surprise" will be anyway? I'm thinking maybe it's a Stella Re-reveal, with a cutscene or even a boss battle! But at this point I'll be satisfied even if it was the fishing mini-game lol.

Like the fishing mini-game, let's think oustide the box on what the surprise maybe. My guess would be the overall map. If it's story-related, I might guess it's the other Cid, since Tabata mentioned that we would know in the demo, if Cidney is the real Cid. If that's the surprise, then it's not a surprise at all. Also, my other guess would be the intro of the full game. Thoughts?
Teasing Stella wouldn't make sense. That's something that only some of the versus XIII fans would understand. It wouldn't have any impact on everyone else.

Well, they were pretty silent about the whole "Stella/Luna" miss since TGS and that didn't make any sense. They answered - literally - every question the fans asked about the game except for the ones about Stella. So I'm thinking maybe they're saving her glorious return as a nice surprise for the fans who've waited 9 years after finishing the demo.
Yeah but when people speculated about Cor's being missed in TGS trailer, they showed him in the JF trailer and talked about its role in the story and gameplay, but they never did the same for Stellal. That makes me thinking that they're saving her for a big re-reveal later, maybe in the demo's ending, maybe at E3.

If it's the first sentence, then that's the type of thing to say when giving a release period.

I understand people have been waiting for 8ish years for this game, but whenever someone says ( It's coming out this year), the other person says "not a chance".
Is it because they been let down so much that they don't want to be let down again by thinking such optimistic thoughts, or is it for an actual reason?

Yoko Shimomura recently said on Twitter that the Prelude theme was not from XV, but actually from Distant Worlds.
She continues that she chose it because it's a nice song. She says that Episode Duscae will feature music from all the past PVs (trailers), but also contain new music as well.
