Front Mission on the Wii and Wii U Virtual Consoles.
Front Mission Series: Gun Hazard on the Wii U Virtual Console.
Seiken Densetsu 3 - in general since it's been so well received and it's never been re-released.

Yeah, I really want a Seiken Densetsu 3 re-release... It's never been translated officially into English but to my recollection it isn't available on the Japanese virtual console either.

I also wish some of the physical-only PSP games would just get a digital release already :/

Yeah, it's not. Which is really odd.

Like what? Crisis Core and Birth by Sleep can't due to licensing issues.

Didn't know it cost so much to put something on the Wii U Virtual Console that's on the Wii VC.

Front Mission I'm guessing there's some sort of a licensing issue.
I hope that's not the only thing you took away from that.

A lot of answers to questions like this usually boil down to money. It's all about the money.

If companies had all the money in the world, then you'd probably see so many things happen that you would not normally see.

In regards to Wii U virtual console. It could be for a variety of reasons. It could be that the game wouldn't make a profit so it's not worth spending the money to bring it over. It could be because of strategy reasons because releasing the game now wouldn't make as much money as it could later down the road. It could be because of the lack of resources and SE doesn't feel the need to add to that because it costs money, so they're playing the waiting game instead. If it's a licensing issue, then it's probably because someone isn't offering a lot of money or there are other deeper complications involved that's going to require even more money and it's just simply not worth it.

Should point out that a lot of Square Enix games on Wii virtual console haven't been released on Wii U virtual console in the west yet.

None of them have been released on the Wii U VC outside of Japan.

A lot of their games aren't even available in Japan. I'm not certain of how much the porting license costs but it's at the very least unfortunate that they aren't preserving some of their better games, like Seiken Densetsu 3.

To get a digital copy of SaGa Frontier I had to make a Japanese PSN account. Okay, I get that SaGa isn't that popular overseas (still annoying). But a lot of their other games like the Star Oceans for PSP or Crisis Core aren't available in digital format anywhere; even though the PSP is still sort of supported in Japan (accessories and the odd visual novel downgrade), it's been almost completely phased out by now.

Crisis Core has licensing issues. Enix franchises don't usually get released like that.
