Bundle it with the Japan version of X|X-2 HD Remaster at the very least. That'll get people talking.
I don't see why not. FFVI PS1 in EU came with an FFX PS2 demo. I believe FFVIIAC came with an FFXIII demo in Japan. A XV demo is a must.

Probably too late for FFX | X-2 HD. By that I mean they may not even have anything remotely playable in the next few months or so for it!

Bundle it with a FFXII (International Zodiac Job Edition) HD release. That would also solve the question of what they can include with the package!

It's nice to want things

Didn't FFXIII have barely anything playable before the demo came out? And by that I mean, the development team had no idea how to move forward with the project until it created the demo! With XV I'm sure there's been more progress.
Ah, good call. I've completely forgotten about the FFXIII demo.

However I definitely think a FFXV demo with a price tag (a demo on its own that is, not included with a physical product you've actually paid money for) would fall in line with what the company said in a recent financial report to investors. There was a bit in there that stipulated a plan to make some money from a product before it's even out. I was actually half-joking when I suggested a paid demo, but it does sound like something the current SE CEO would gladly seize with both hands.

My concern with this is that a lot of what they've shown has been CG target render stuff - basically almost all of the E3 press conference trailer, with actual gameplay restricted to the other trailer released with stuff looking a lot more PS3 than PS4. If the conference trailer is an indication of where they want to get and the other trailer an indication of where they are right now, man, that's worlds apart.

Do you know what they can do over at SE HQ?

Push out a teeny little FFXV demo for sometime next year. Pay to download!

It'll probably be more successful than their entire mobile output for next year.
Buy LR:FFXIII, get FFXV demo code for free. Not a bad idea.

For free?! Are you mad?!

No, no, no! In Matsuda's Square-Enix, you must monetise as many things as you can. It will be more like: buy LR: FFXIII, pay money for a FFXV demo download (much?) later. In between, here is Noctis's perfume line. Oh, and a preliminary premium iOS app for something FFXV related.

Well, it's technically not free as people would pay $60 for it. :p

I've been told otherwise and I believe it. That's really all I can say about that, though.

That said - I've been working in this business for a good half a decade now, and I've never seen a company present two such disparate live builds at any event, ever. I don't doubt they'll get there, I just think they're a good way from it, thus the game won't be out for some time.

I'll take your word for it then, considering Erren also agrees.

It doesn't matter to me either way whether it's target render. I've always been content waiting for Versus, it's not the only game I'm looking forward to. I'm happy waiting because I trust the project is in good hands with Nomura and Tabata, and that the more I wait, the more it will be worth it. The E3 trailer already demonstrates this. But despite my patience for Versus, I've still found this generation to be incredibly frustrating, as many PS3 games I was looking forward to have failed to fill in the gap left by Versus. Final Fantasy XIII and XIV were awful, Front Mission Evolved was awful, White Knight Chronicles was awful, Final Fantasy Type-0 remains unavailable, FFXIII spawned undesired sequels, A Realm Reborn absorbed the majority of Square Enix's development resources for three years, all for a game that isn't even a traditional Final Fantasy product that I expect to feature a playable cast of pre-defined characters. Instead, it's just an online service with a limited life span that only a niche portion of the fanbase cares about. Final Fantasy VII HD, Kingdom Hearts III, Beyond Good & Evil 2, and The Last Guardian all skipped the whole generation, Zone of the Enders 3rd was scrapped, Bloodmasque was scrapped for consoles, and worst of all to me, Metal Gear Solid: Rising, the only title where my excitement exceeded Versus was scrapped by Kojima Productions and suffered a fate worse than cancellation; outsourced development. MGR Revengeance was awful. At least on the bright side, I've never been a fan of Capcom and their IP aside from Okami. Massive disappointment avoided right there.

It hasn't been all bad of course. I loved FFXIII-2, and Lightning Returns looks fantastic despite my resent for the titular character. MGS4, NieR, Journey, Deus Ex HR, and Enslaved: Odyssey to the West were my greatest PS3 highlights. Team Ninja fixed Ninja Gaiden 3. And Drag-On Dragoon 3 is the title I'm most looking forward to right now. But I'll be damned to say the Japanese output for PlayStation 3 this generation hasn't been a huge disappointment for me.
