Yeah I wanted to create Yellow Scarf too but unfortunately Garnet wears the Feather hat and I had no oppertunity to remove it from her after arriving in Lindblum so I couldnt make it :/

I fought the bombs with Zidane when I was levelling before the festival and damn they are pretty powerful if you have only one character. They give quite a bit of exp though. Thanks for the eating abilities tip, I wasnt aware of that. Will do that.

I have already dug up all of the Chocographs in Chocobos Forest that are available now (Though at the moment I was only able to reach two of those treasures, the others are still out of reach). I think I am heading to the plateau now and eat me some bombs :)

Just learned all the blue magic from Axe Beaks, Carve Spiders and Bombs and are back at the entrance of Gizamalukes Grotto, eagerly waiting to proceed ;)

So how´s it looking Leon and buddhafied? Finally at the checkpoint?

I'm hunting! I'm hunting!!! I'm doing as fast as I can!

EDIT:
Please proceed! I don't want you to wait for me! Though Azuardo has not gotten into the Forum at all these days, so we don't know if he plays or not... But still please continue and get to the Grotto. Even if I can't catch up with you until the end of disc one, it will be there where I suggest you can wait until we all continue with disc 2. It's hard to play and I'm sorry for that, but I currently spend a lot of time for my University as it's my last semester. Still I manage to play 1-2 hours per day! I so enjoy this project! :)

Aaaaah! I did it!!! :D

I smell a thunderous entry in the following chapters... - This game is just hilarious!!!
WP_20131010_013.jpg WP_20131010_016.jpg

Not that's necessary or anything! But this sidequest is fun!!! - I have to ask about this ATE! We see Marcus opening a chest. Has anyone never seen this ATE and retrieved this chest from that area? If yes, what's in there? I always forget to not do this and find out!
WP_20131010_017.jpg WP_20131010_018.jpg

These CG... Still so damn beautiful! - Geez Steiner cool down a bit! It's not Zidane the reason that Earth is circular! I let Freya win this and I managed to steal both the Needle Fork and the Mythril Gloves from Zaghnol on my first and second attempt respectively!

WP_20131011_003.jpg WP_20131011_004.jpg

And here I am!!!!! Sorry for the delay! Crazy week! Crazy!!!

I personally think it's better that we don't have to wait for each other and that those who have more time can carry on playing, but we simply just don't talk about events that are passed the current checkpoint (i.e. the point the most furthest-behind player is at the moment). Therefore, I have decided to drop out of actually waiting at checkpoints because I luckily have spare time on my hands and simply want to play through at my own pace. I will still pop in the thread and share screenies or discuss things or share tips or whatever, but I'm not going to be stopping and starting, and shall be doing my own thing. The whole idea is great, but I didn't realise until I actually started playing how much the waiting around would really bother me, because I desperately wanted to replay through this game again, and thought it'd go quicker than it ended up being. That's through nobody's fault, of course, but it just means that I will have to bow out of the waiting around and checking in. But I will still follow discussion and contribute where I see fit, remaining courteous to everyone's current positions and steering clear of spoilers and events that haven't happened.

Disc 4 spoiler content for the attention of @APZonerunner:
Did the Madain Sari side-quest and can confirm that there is absolutely no usage of the word "Esper," so the term definitely does not exist in the English translation. Pesonally, I'm not convinced that "Esper" is used in the Japanese script, either, after I tried to dig around for it, so I'm inclined to say you might have just got your wires crossed. If you find out otherwise, though, would be glad to hear about it! But I just wanted to confirm to you that it's definitely not in the English script :]

I took screenies of every mural writing and would be happy to link to them if you wanted.

Anyway, just some screens I took and little thoughts from my time during the current checkpoint you're all at:

kekeke

Quite possibly my favourite location in FF: Lindblum. Or at least, I always thought it would be a fantastic place to live. I love how you can get a huge sense of the scale of it through the various backgrounds you go through in this city.

Furthermore, one of my favourite things in this game is the way in which both the interior and exterior of buildings can be seen when you're inside one. I can stop for minutes to actually stare at the intricate details gone into the designs of these walls and all the little touches that can so easily go unnoticed. I could easily have taken loads of shots, but just study these, for example:

Look how you can see the outside balcony, clock, and the birds nesting.

This one is a real personal favourite. See how the roof has been partly drawn, and that you're not just looking at black areas surrounding the houses as in FFVII, letting you see the outside walls and surroundings, as well, like the kegs and crates and the emblem on the wall. So much detail and beauty all in one little screenshot. Not to mention the interior detail with those cogs spinning around on the wall. I'm not sure any other FF has been crafted with so much care and attention to detail.

Kuraudo?

This always got a laugh out of me.

During the Hunt, actually dawdled around a bit and forgot to explore the Theatre District properly because I forgot that Zaghnol arrives later on, and I ended up going straight there for him, heh. So probably not a very good score, but I got Zidane to win like I wanted to.

And I believe this was my party right before entering Burmecia.

Final note:
Now, I'm playing the North American version this time around and the American English is very apparent. I loved how the translators took the time to completely edit the game and put in British English in the PAL version. That was incredibly welcome, because it's something you rarely see these days. So the North American script is very apparent to me in this playthrough. All the missing Us in those "-our" words (rumor/rumour) and "-re" being the other way around (center/centre) ;] I've also noticed the odd punctuation error, but they've been very rare. I'm almost certain these didn't crop up in the British English script, so I'd wager they did more than just add a few Us to some words, and such. Just small things that interested me.

@Azuardo It's totally fine at least by me since you want to continue joining us in our conversations! Have you finished it? Doesn't that game get better and better each time you play it? :D

As about... for your above image, definitely a reference to Cloud!

I would like your opinion about a question of mine that I stated above... It's about the ATE with Baku and his crew... Have you ever opened this chest with Zidane?

Not quite done; on Disc 4, but just pretty much finishing up all the side-quests I want to do. Think I'm pretty much ready to go to the final area now, and then take on the two superbosses. This has been a really enjoyable playthrough, though. I really took in the story this time around and have made sure to fully understand what was going on, and clear up any small things I was unsure about. I'm not even sure of the last time I did almost everything in this game, including the superbosses, but this is one of my fullest playthroughs for some time. I've loved every second of it.

Of course ;p

This, I'm not sure about. What I do know is that even if you do not watch that ATE, the Moccha Coffee will still be there when you visit that place, which leaves me to think the chest may already be opened, too. Apparently the ether that is there to pick up is left by Marcus himself. However, I will ask about this at GameFAQs and get back to you if I get a precise answer.

Ah, well someone has replied and has confirmed that the chest is already opened even if you don't watch that ATE.

In fact, what seems to be the case is that Marcus opened the chest, then he kneeled down towards the back of the screen, which is where you can pick up an item later on. It would seem that the item Marcus found in the chest would be that. Quite why he did that, I don't know, and I'm trying to find a concrete answer to it. Not sure it's really stated, though.

Well I suppose it's one of those things that are completely illogical! Like how Zorn and Thorn survived when they fell from the mini airship of Black Waltz 3, or

even the actuall end of the game... I can't use another spoiler section in spoiler section!!! You know what I'm talking about since you have played the game...

@Leon Aether: no there will be no such thing as others already moving on while one of the starting members hasnt reached the checkpoint yet. If it takes time so be it. But the whole purpose of these checkpoints-idea that I created so that we can proceed all together at the same time. I think its okay to do levelling and sidequest stuff while others havent reached the checkpoint yet but no one (unless he has dropped out of the project) should enter the next story location before everyone has reached the checkpoint. And that was also stated in the rules that everyone agreed on. As long as you try to reach the next checkpoint as quick as possible for you its okay. If your real life schedule means you only have 2 or 3 hours per day - so be it. Thats all been taken into account.

Since you and buddhafied have reached the checkpoint now, everyone can now proceed to Gizamalukes Grotto - unless anybody wants to begin the Hot and Cold sidequest first and dig up all the availeble chocographs so far? I´d really recommend it.

Oh! Ok! Thank you! I would like to make it faster but... It's kinda hard!

Yes I'll do my Hot n Cold and farm a bit for Quina's magics. I hope it won't take that long. Besides Grotto won't take that long to pass through. It's a small area. But I insist on one thing. If it takes for me too long and since Burmecia is too close and it's the end of Disk One, you can all proceed. We can then start all together Disc Two. It will be a busy weekend too for me. It's those first two weeks that are touph, until everything is adjusted to a program.

The next checkpoint is the last before the end of Disc I anyway. We´ll see how things are once everybody except Leon has reached Burmecia. I still wanna do some sidequest stuff before going into Burmecia anyway. Will anybody be suicidal enough to take on those big green dragons on the plateau above the Grotto? :D

@Azuardo Thanks for the clarification! I SWEAR it's used somewhere, though. God, unless my memory is that bad. Maybe Zorn & Thorn say it once. Bah!
Haha, I promise you it isn't :] Since you mentioned it, I made sure to study the text to a tee because I had never heard of it in FF9 before, and the Eidolon Wall was the only place that had a chance of mentioning it. Double-checked with a full game script, too. Good excuse to replay the game again for yourself, eh? ;]

I am working on video that features a smart way to defeat them by taking advantage of one of Quina's Blue magic
I will post it as part of my playthrough
