A little over a year ago, there was this rumor about a new unannounced medieval fantasy RPG called "Dark Witch." According to a French developer's job listing, details were suppose to be announced to the press between October and December of 2012. That never happened. Game is for PC, Mac and Console (Wii U being the only mentioned console in the job listing). The team is said to be mainly composed of veterans in the game industry and has an internationally recognized expertise in the field.

Only image we have is character concept artwork.

Wonder what happened to it and if it's even still in development?

*edit*

It's not called "Dark Witch." That's just what the piece of artwork is called. Right now, it's just an unannounced medieval fantasy rpg.

Very interesting art work. Sounds like a prime prospect for Kickstarter but maybe they're waiting until they have more work. It's around this time I would assume they would have a working demo.

Did some hunting.

In the source link above. I checked out Marc Kruzic linkedin account. Saw a link to this twitter account. https://twitter.com/HANAKAISTUDIO You'll notice that there is a piece of artwork with a similar style to Dark Witch above.

Same project or something else?

Decided to hunt down the artist. His name is Keun ju Kim and he's from South Korea.

Deviant art page: http://rabbiteyes.deviantart.com/
Personal website: http://rabbiteyes.net/#/home
CGhub page: http://rabbiteyes.cghub.com/

His CGhub page shows the full version of the artwork above. The title of the piece is called, "Ell."

Download link for 4000 x 5658 px version http://cghub.com/images/download/190508/

Something I've noticed is that artwork was uploaded Dec 16th 2011 on both his DA and CGhub account. We first learned about this Dark Witch project early September 2012.

Well, some projects can be in the concept stages for years and years before they're ever put into action and have their ideas put into a game. But who knows.

Couple things.

Just asked Marc Kruzik on twitter what happened to the project. He tells me that it's still in development but can't talk about it just yet. https://twitter.com/MarcKruzik/status/390068788797784064

The second thing is something Aurora and I were talking about a couple of days ago.

In Marc Kruzik's linkedin profile, there's a link to this twitter account. twitter.com/HANAKAISTUDIO In it, you'll notice a couple of things. 1) The artwork I posted above and 2) This picture.

As you can see, the character concept artwork in the twitter account is shown here as a figure and 3D model.

But the figures caught our attention.

One of the job descriptions (from the Not Enough Shaders link above) for that unnanounced medieval fantasy project says the following.

“We’re currently looking for freelances high poly 3D artists. The project is a video game, an heroic fantasy RPG with higly detailled armors (~500 000 polys per character). It’s not for real time, rather for rendering, 3D printing and other things of the same kind."

Keyword: 3D printing

3D printing would explain the figures you see above.

So is this unnanounced medieval fantasy RPG and "Guardians" the same project? Or are we talking about two different projects here? Worth pointing out that Marc Kruzik's linkedin profile says that his current position is "Technical Assistant at Studio Hanakai" and "Project Manager at Earthlings." I'm leaning on two different projects as the unannounced medieval project is connected to Earthlings and Guardians is connected to Studio Hanakai. Guardians seems like it may have something to do with NFC.

Either way, the medieval fantasy RPG is not dead.
