Final Fantasy XV - General News Thread

So like a couple (if not most) of you guys, I expected TGS to be this big blowout that would show a little too much, and it was in some cases, but surprisingly we haven't seen one of the most important things in the game being expanded upon. Ring Magic. There's clearly a lot of plot related to it, and its quite important, but we haven't seen if it will introduce a new mechanic, how it'll be used or anything. I mean we have it as a tab in equipment for it, but its always been grayed out.

So, the point of my post, do you guys think we'll see it soon, maybe at PSX or something? Or do you guys think it'll be kept under wraps and we have to find out what it is when game comes out? In fact, do you guys want it to be announced and explained before the game at all?

The game is done. It hasn't been mastered yet, but pre-review copies are out there.

Which, first off, should be a little bit comforting for anyone concerned about a second delay. Though, I'm pretty sure we squashed that one collectively already. But, it also means it's out there, which means there will be spoilers. Real spoilers. So watch out.

I don't get these people serious. You can't just suspect another delay because of simple bug\glitch, its beyond stupid.

Nope. Completely unrelated site I also frequent that has nothing to do with videogames, but happens to have one known member that has ties to the industry. I haven't been to GAF yet today.

Wouldn´t it be better for S.E giving pre-review copies once they have the better build ready by late october/early november?

That's what I thought, too. But it could be that it's good enough at this point to get it out there. I don't know when they normally would come out so I have no frame of reference. I figure a game that has 200 hours of content would require some time to get through. Considering these people aren't going to drop everything to play one game for two weeks, maybe they just give them all that time to let it all sink in and solidify before they post their reviews. I dunno.

I feel like FFXV score is unpredictable, I'm betting on 80~90 on meta.

it's trying a lot of new ideas but the question is how well they'll be implemented?

it's easier to predict a souls/uncharted/pokemon game score because these games don't change much, they basically refine their formula, but FFXV is a totally different beast than any FF that came before.

I'm a little bit with ya, but I'm going to take it as it not being unfinished. That this is the game they were hoping for at release, but they're just spending this extra time really shining it up.

indeed, i think the trailer was pretty light on spoilers.

just to give an idea, so far we haven't seen:

plague of the stars (not even implied)
iedolas in a cutscene
ring magic
bahamut
ravus is just barely there
big set pieces (leviathan or other summon)
new areas

the trailers have been very fragmented and they are not revealing much in fact.
