Found this on Reddit and I'm not sure what to make of this.

It seems like total, utter crap and highly unlikely. But then again a few months back someone did accurately leak some story beats and scenarios for the game (didn't read the leaks but I've heard a lot of people saying that they ended up being true)

Either way, very interesting to say the least.

As always, take it with a pinch of salt and not fact. It is from 4chan after all, a place of constant trolls and BS.

What are your thoughts? Let's discuss.

Yeah I'm not sure why Square would want to re-do this game again if given the option to, given it's past tumultuous history.

They'd be repeating the same mistake tbh =/

As stated above, why would Square want to redo the game? The only time they would probably "redo" the game would be for its PC port.

Apart from what everyone's said, why would they give it specifically to Nomura? Like, if they really want him to make a FF game, I would think they'd give him either XVI or something. Cause giving him this game would almost feel like a slap in the face (or at least, if I was Nomura and I was given this, that's how I'd feel).

The more likely scenario would be for the dev team to add more story cutscenes and scenarios via patch updates or DLC.

Enough data to make up one full game, or half a game to fully flesh out the story that "Nomura intended" to be in the game.

I'd much rather this than a whole, brand new game. It's more beneficial and efficient this way.

The timing of that 4chan "info" sure is interesting.

I mean right after release date. Why would they post this stuff now?

Well then again they are remaking FFVII with added content and some story changes so tbh anything is possible.

Touché.

I still think updating the current game with story content would be more efficient tbh but who really knows.

One things for sure, Square is full of surprises when it comes to decision making.

From reviews and exprience XV does have some issue with the story, but a remake would kill it. Exactly what Jubileus said, add to the story instead, dont make something different. Make that Nyx story prequel and flesh out the story here and there. Add extra villain bosses and cutscenes.

No. There will almost certainly be a Director's Cut of the game though. It'll tidy up the story and complaints, add back in some cut content or additional clarity and include the DLC. This is the version that will also come to PC.
This is the most likely scenario.

Not sure why someone would post something like this right after release. Unless stirring up the pot is one of their favourite pastimes.

Yeah, no chance that's not bullshit. That reads like a jaded Nomura fan's fantasy.

This, I can totally see, though. In fact, I had an inkling of this idea a long time ago. The PS4 version of this game is the weakest version there will be, but I'm expecting things to be added to it for a while, and other things to continually get polished until by the time you're looking at the PC port, it's finally reached its full potential.

Here's to hoping they add some of the scenes back in that were taken out of the previous ones. The whole Regis crying with young Noctis im Dawn 2.0 was extremely powerful and could have shown how much Regis loves his son. It also shows why the Lucii are important. I'm excited for post release content, here's to hoping they do a lot with it

Agreed.

If they flesh out the story and greatly improve upon what it is now (you can never improve something enough imo) then this would solidify itself to be one of my favourite games of all time, where it has the complete package story wise and gameplay wise.

Would be great if this were to happen.

Taking this part out in a vacuum, but there was never ever a chance that that Regis crying scene was anything but a demo to show off how emotive the character models could be. It was never in the game, nor would it fit anywhere except maybe like a dream or something (Regis holding his son and crying could have been in there somewhere, but not the part where the camera pulls back to reveal the old wall or whatever they're called). If they were to add scenes, I'd much rather they flesh out some of the stuff that didn't get covered very well rather than try to clumsily find a place to insert a scene we've already seen.

It is possible this was an idea at Square-Enix that may have been floating around and someone "leaked" it. The poster mentions, "this is what's been decided as of this moment". A lot of ideas are flown around at the conceptual stage and change over time. It will all depend on XV's long term success. Maybe they will make a sequel and have Nomura head it up instead. We just don't know. It's too soon to say either way.

However, I think what takes credence away from this rumor is that the poster mentions Type-1. A possible sequel to Type-0. Yet a sequel has never been announced and hints of one were so long ago that surely plans have changed. Not to mention it doesn't logistically work. We can safely assume that Tabata will be continuing on XV development for the next 1-2 years while most of the development team is shifted to the VII Remake. Plus, I would also imagine after XV's apparent success that XVI would be entering production as soon as possible to attempt a current gen release. Taking that into account, Type-1 couldn't possibly be in any sort of development phase since there's no one left to work on it. Not even its original creators. Thought of a spin-off series, which is arguably not even that popular, would supersede a mainline game in the development queue is unfathomable to me. Which leaves me to wonder why this poster would just off-handedly mention Type-1 as if it had any bearing on anything.
