His design for old Noctis is easily my favourite for a FF main character, Luna's design is also one of my favourites. He also worked on the redesigns of the main four after the director change in FFXV. The wiki has some good insight on what he changed in their designs. His redesign for Promoto made him look much more relate-able.

What I like about his designs is that they are more down to earth than Nomura's designs, while still feeling like Final Fantasy characters. Even if I didn't like him that much, Caius's design blends elements from Amano and Nomura quite well.

Another thing is that his designs fit HD graphics and appeal to western tastes much more than Nomura. Which is where the future of the series at. He did the design for Agni's Philosophy and I want FFXVI be something similar to that. The world design for Agni's Philosophy is also a great blend of what you expect from FF and realism.

Agreed. Loved his Old Noctis design (cue avatar quote :p). An alternative would be Roberto Ferrari, but only if someone keeps his female designs in check, lol. Are there any examples of female characters designed by Naora?

He didn't really make that many character designs so it's a bit difficult to judge. His art direction in FF was always on point though. Old Noctis is also alright so I wouldn't mind him, I guess.

I noticed that in your post you mostly pit him against Nomura, which is a bit strange since Nomura is the one person who 100% won't be a designer for FFXVI. He's too busy with other big projects.

Didn't he leave SE?
He did but he works freelance now apparently. So I think his situation is going to be like Akihiko Yoshida.

He designed Sera's costume and Luna and most of her dresses I think lol. I also assume he designed things like the Kingsglaive outfits, Regis redesign and the alternate outfits for the party. He designed Agni too I think.

Roberto is too "anime" for my taste lol. I liked his designs in FFXV, but his Type-0 designs and artwork don't really fit FF IMO.

His art direction is probably what made fall in love with the series. FFX was my first FF and the world and FMVs were the most beautiful things I have seen in a media. Isamu Kokurioyu(FFXII,FFXIII) is also a great art director.

Nomura is the main character designer for most 3D FFs after all. Noara also designed characters in games where Nomura was the main desginer(Luna in FFXV,Caius in FFXIII), and resigned many of his characters. Even when Nomura was busy with KHII he did the character design for FFXIII IIRC.
