Has anyone played the previous games in this series? If so, are they worth a playthrough?
I have only played through the first game (which is designed to be played through multiple times), and if it's any indication of subsequent games, you're looking at a super linear RPG that is perhaps unsurprisingly on the short side. However, I did come across from Siliconera or somewhere, that Chaos Rings III may take up to 30 hours to beat.

Battles are traditionally turn-based, with a rather basic rock-paper-scissors elemental system. There's tactics involved with whether you fight individually, or "pair" up both characters to inflict further attack damage, though at the cost of having monsters uniformly damage all party members. You gain monster genes and abilities as you go along and fight the various monster species. I think what I liked about the system, is that you instantly heal your HP after every battle, allowing regular random battles to be fairly challenging. At least, that was a feature I enjoyed until I began to attempt to attain all the monster gene abilities, which led to excessive grinding, thus removing a lot of the earlier challenge from the battles.

Of course, the first game is not quite indicative of what the latest installment will be/have, but I suppose if you ever find the series at half price on the App store, it's worth checking out. Unfortunately, I can't say for sure whether Chaos Rings Omega or Chaos Rings II are worth the full asking price.

Doesn't the chances of the Chaos Rings III prequel trilogy for Playstation Vita getting localized high? I seen the others has been released in English! I would definitely love more games to get when I buy a Vita. So far I only want Tales of Hearts R.
