Kingsglaive looks great, and seeing as it comes with the Deluxe Edition of Final Fantasy XV I will be watching it before I play the game itself.

As I understand it runs parallel to Final Fantasy XV, but could it potentially spoil anything about the game?

At that point it wouldn't really be spoilers would it?
Since they want you to watch the movie first?

Kingslave covers the invasion of lucis which happens at the beginning of the game so it wont spoil much. IN fact it would be good that your watching it first.

If we assume the movie is 90 minutes long, that´s not enough time to cover much of the 50 hours of FFXV. I would assume what we will see the whole invasion taking place in Lucis for like (at minimum 45 minutes of it), Lucis´ Special Forces vs Niflheim Army and probably so info dump about the in-universe history of FFXV. I don´t think they will give away the resolution of how Noctis & friends will manage to recover the Kingdom.

Versus XIII was supposed to have more games to begin with, the whole "VERSUS Epic" tagline shows this. Tabata also confirms this when mentioning how they are making these things like the movie, anime, etc to put the story in those places instead of making multiple games.

The movie won't spoil you, the entire point of the movie is supposed to be that it's accessible for all audiences, so contextually it will be easy to get into, unlike Advent Children. On top of this, any connections with the main game will likely be towards the very beginning anyways.

Short answer, no... Why would they release a movie before the game and then spoil the game for you before it's even out, that makes no sense.

Yeah, I guess you guys are right! It was probably a stupid question on my part :p

And yeah, I always did wonder what they meant by "Versus EPIC". Now I know - The Compilation of Final Fantasy XV.

Exactly. And I heard they mentioned the game and the movie was already planned way back from the start, or maybe halfway of development. Thoughts?

It's what Square Enix showed when the Fabula Nova Crystallis: Final Fantasy XIII was announced. The solid green circles were the confirmed games; FFXIII and Versus XIII for PS3, and Agito XIII for Mobile.

You can also see three blank circles, which were "to be announced" FNC FFXIII titles. Film? Anime? Another game? But later in the development Fabula Nova Crystallis: Final Fantasy XIII dropped the FFXIII tagline, making it solely Fabula Nova Crystallis, which meant it consisted of:

- FFXIII
- FFXIII-2
- LR: FFXIII
- FF Type-0 (formally Agito XIII).
- FFXV? Unless Tabata removed the l'Cie stuff and made as far removed from FNC as possible, hence the new compilation of FFXV stuff.

FFXV is confirmed to be no longer a part of FNC. Its lore was entirely reworked, noone knows yet if it has certain aspects inspired by its past association with FNC's mythos.

Also, those spaces in the diagram do not have any sort of importance now. XIII's sequels were not planned until XIII received a polarizing reception. They may have referred to secret titles whose fate we will never know or have been completely cancelled, such as the mysterious Final Fantasy Hearesis XIII back in 2006.

I must have missed that confirmation. To be honest, I'm glad that it's no longer a part of it, and now the game can stand by me...I mean, stand by itself, as a totally "new" thing.
