What is that, Ifrit? Diabolos? A random mook? I don't know! Third base!

I saw FF Peasant's theory and as much as I like it I don't think its true, I think we're dealing with a different scenario here.

I am almost positive that this is some sort of time-skip scenario, the ending of Afrojack trailer actually confirms it (since they all look a tad different than their usual designs). I mean, it makes sense to an extent, the guys come back to Insomnia after years later strong enough to reclaim the throne. I can't see a scenario where Noctis is projecting the entire thing or the fight, unless Regis went through a similar thing in the past where he has to reclaim the throne I find this theory highly unlikely.

But hey, as @DrBretto said we still don't know anything specific regarding the plot. I am very much hoping for a surprise *~*

It is confirmed by Tabata that the creature on the chair is in fact Ifrit. My initial reception of seeing him back when we got that tease where he looked all thin and mangled is what put me off entirely for the most part. Once we saw him in Chapter 0 however, it looked a lot more like Ifrit as @DrBretto pointed out with the FFVII design just maybe a bit leaner.

The leaks before mentioned Ifrit, so this is supporting this theory, however, again, it can very well be constructed by seeing this material before hand and coming up with some ideas. Or, it very well may be that they do have insiders within the company.

As the leakers have mentioned though, they've been fed some false information though, so we'll have to see what turns out to be true or not. This is probably the last I'll speak of these leaks though, as I feel it's best to focus on the game's release. Once the game comes out, we can have plenty of discussion on what was real and what wasn't.

For the purposes of this thread though, Ifrit is in fact the creature on the throne, also, it was confirmed that this isn't the final boss of the game. Personally, I expect to fight Bahamut as one of the final Astrals in the game, as Bahamut is usually the most powerful of the Summons. We will see though!

I wanted to be the one to post this given how strongly I was against this being Ifrit to show that I am not at all resistant from being proven wrong.

Interesting! And even if it was kinda predictable that he isn't the last boss, I like it. Hopefully that means that that part of the game is still hours before the ending.

Although I guess it could just be one of those bosses you fight right before the big bad (can't speak Japanese and couldn't even watch the ATR, so I don't know exactly what he said).

Actually, I don't even know if something interesting has been said in the streaming beyond this. I'll look around later!

I really hope by "not last boss" they don't just mean the first form of the last boss. I haven't seen this new info at all yet, maybe he clarified, but I'm really hoping like mist cold opens, this is either the halfway point or something along those lines. Fingers crossed that Tabata's FFVI fanhood comes through.

From what we can guess, the old age bit happens sooner than we think. I also think Bahamut will come after Ifrit really. I think the final bit of the game will be away from Lucis and have more impact on the whole world.

The thing that's sticking out to me, pulling the focus back a bit on the most recent comments, is the notion that the game is split into clear halves. This evokes FFVI. And this strongly suggests to me that the flash could be the transition point.

Mm... Bahamut. I keep my story expectations wiiiiiide open, but that'd the one thing I would be legitimately disappointed not to see.

Bahamut is most likely there. I can't think of a mainline FF that didn't feature him (many of them had him in a very prominent role, actually).

Can't wait to see Shiva. And I really hope the leaks are false (I believe they're basically a Frankenstein of different second-hand informations and speculation), because Chapter 0's Ifrit is definitively intriguing in both design and... well, the fact that you fight him in a seemingly chaotic Insomnia.
I'd like a source for this, please.
Today's ATR, it seems. Can't say where he says that because I haven't even watched it.

Was glad to see it finally confirmed. I'm guessing this means Ifrit is the summon with a redesign that Tabata mentioned. Intrigued to know more, the calm almost royal demeanor he's putting on display here is a nice departure from the typical bestial rage we see from that summon. I wonder if this means he really is in league with Niflheim? Some beef against Lucis, perhaps? Planting his throne in the middle of Insomnia's most important landmark really screams of making a statement.

Also, based on info from Gamescom (Astral spoilers if you haven't read!)
Bahamut is definitely in based on an in-game text that can be discovered.

"With each ”leak” I grow more and more confident in my ex-coworkers’ abilities to keep secrets." - L_sprio (former square dev who worked on this game)

To be totally fair, that's the same L Spiro who said the first guy had no inside knowledge and that's been pretty thoroughly debunked. I like the dude, and I am in now way calling him a liar, but his word is opinion, not fact. He is a former employee and likely does not know the whole story. His word should mean significantly more than a regular dude, he's just not a definitive source.

That said, I didn't even bother looking at these "leaks" yet. I don't get why people keep doing this to themselves, lol. I mean, I do, it totally get it, but there's no good that can come from spoilers.

Funny thing about a lot of the story and lore theories springing up in the wake of Gamescom... None of them are taking all of what Tabata has said in interviews into account about the Astrals, what survived from the original mythos despite the terminology and branding being removed, what real-world traditions the revamped mythos is based on, ect... They basically seem to be using visual evidence and English-exclusive statements to build sometimes quite far-fetched speculations on the lore (mostly on GameFAQs, Neogaf, and the FFXV Forum). I'd create my own theory, but I'm not that interested, and there's no encouragement for it, so I keep my ideas and fantasies mostly to myself.

Well I only looked at them when I was sure they were fake, and im still certain they are fake, There is way too much evidence pointing to them being fake.

Spoilers below
The leaker only detailed what happens in the first few chapters but dosent detail the rest. Also the leaks dont even mention Noctis fighting the summons at all which we know he does throughout the game. He also says that Noctis collects weapons all throughout the game yet at the end of the master footage he has most of them. He says that you get 7 summons and includes Carbuncle in there and im sure there will be some large summons and small summons going above 7, Also Noctis dosent have the ring in Ch.0 even though the leaker says he should. He dosent mention the plague of the stars or Ravus. Im sure they are too important to the story to ignore. No mention of the other areas of the game (tenabre, Solhiem, Accordo). Says the Ardyn/Ifrit will be the final boss even tho Tabata just said that he wouldn't be today. he said that Luna "awakens the summons" We already know that Nocits is fighting the summons so why would Luna be awakening them? Im sure I can find more inconsistencies or stuff that dosent make sense that the leaker says.

Totally irrational, so take this for what it is, but that sounds almost exactly what people were saying about the original leaks.

I just saw one little bit of it. Rings true enough that I'm not going to bother reading them just in case. I'd ask people take discussion of leaks to the spoiler threads anyway.

A leak is either a spoiler or fanfiction. Either way, it's a fate worse than death.

Oh. Well I guess that explains why it sounded like what some were saying about the old ones, lol. But the post you quoted, was that not L Spiro commenting on the latest leaks? Or did I misread that one.

yeah I think a new leak came out and he was possibly posting about that although it was in a thread for the original leak (about chapter 0 was ifrit mean the leaks were confirmed). But I still think his comment holds weight for the original leak as well.
