having played duscae recently, there's something i missed.

UI, camera, sense of "heaviness", lightning...

other than that, gameplay is so much better now.
Wait, are you saying you MISS the duscae camera? I'm guessing you haven't dusted that one off in a while :p

I hope you can stay strong.
I don't feel like I've lessened my experience with the final game since I'm only restricting myself to just idly walking around in the beginning part of the demo. Also skipped all cutscene lol.
Despite only being 18 days away, it feels like a lot longer than that haha. I didn't realise that you could skip the cutscenes! That may tempt me into downloading it. It's great to hear the positivity around the demo also. Does anyone know when the reviews will start to filter through? I don't know whether to avoid reading reviews too much as i want to make my own judgement of the game first and i don't want to be swayed too much by another reviewers opinion (although i hope for FFXV's sake the general consensus is positive).

Im not sure you can skip. I just went out the room until the audio stopped xD

In my opinion if you strongly feel the game will be good I would avoid reviews.

Haha fair enough, that tactic will also work! Might set up a Japanese playstation store account in a second.

I've seen enough of the game now to say i'm confident the game will be good, if not excellent. For anything i have a vested interested in now, i always try and make my own judgement first, so i'm not swayed by another reviewer. There is a lot of negativity on the internet so it can be difficult at times, but i'll do my best.

If THAT's the worst we have to live with, I'm damn happy.
Only glitch I've gotten so far was Gladio's body clipping though the counter when you talk to the guy on there. Same kinda minor glitch I had in the Witcher 3 and it only happens in TW3 like twice.

Things like that don't bother me and are understandable to happen in such big games.

What do you guys think of the combat compared to KH, based on the new demo?
I haven't played the new demo yet (I think I'd rather experience the start of the game the first time on my disc copy, especially considering that nothing transfers over), but based on my time with Platinum and the gameplay I've seen from Judgment, I'm inclined to think they're two very different beasts.

KH has always felt like it's largely about timing and precision to me -- knowing when you can attack, when you should dodge, when you can effectively make use of super moves, etc. KH PCs' attack strings are the same every time, their dodges offer nigh-invulnerability, and changes in attack patterns are set in advance based on character skills. But, because most of your attacks are based on set patterns, the game can guarantee you a ton of flash, if only when fighting trash mobs.

XV, on the other hand, seems like it's more interested in movement and therefore values flexibility over precision. There are a ton of different ways to avoid enemy attacks depending on where you want to be and how much damage you want to do in the process. As such, you need to be a lot better at the game in order to look good (which is why most of the footage from the gaming press looks unimpressive >_>; ), but if you've got the skill, you can pull off all manner of ridiculousness. Then again, XV's a lot more accommodating to people who have very poor reflexes, what with Wait Mode and the ability to use Phoenix Down even after Noct loses all his HP.

I don't whether to cave in and download the demo or not, or carry on waiting patiently until November 29th. I wanted to wait to see all the opening CG cinematic goodness until then, am trying to avoid the chapter 0 content and also the end of demo trailer. Must keep playing Titanfall 2 and finding other distractions haha
Play Overwatchhh Prompto is a poor man's McCree.

I still don't understand how to do Tempest and Full Thrust and moves like that. I found a guide for PD that explained every move, and the thing that makes you glow blue, but I just can't do any of that in JD. Anyone know how to do them? Like, moving the sticks only seems to change the combo string for me, but it doesn't activate the moves.

Is unlimited procedurally generated animations a feature in this game or something xD
The amount is just insane!
I think they layer animations the way the Uncharted games do -- there'd be different animations for hair, facial expressions, weapon use, and movement, for instance, and they'd all be combined together with inverse kinematics (both to make the characters stand properly like usual and to have them looking and aiming in the right places) to produce a whole ton of unique combinations. It's not fully procedurally-generated (even if the IK stuff is physics-driven), but it does allow for a ton of variety. I saw a clip of Noct using a pistol that showed this off very well, since all the game really needs to do to make pistol attacks connect is have him pointing it in the right direction.

For the record, I think FFXV's party interactions might take the layering a step farther than what we usually see -- much of the travel dialogue seems like it can happen whether you're standing still, walking, riding a Chocobo, or driving... and yet, when you see the raw animation, it always just shows the characters staying in one place.

I think you have to move the stick backwards (in relation to where Noctis is looking forward) + attack button.

I've translated all of the stat icons in the equipment menu from when you open up the Help text so now we can FINALLY know what the hell these icons are.

I'll be using this screen for reference, I was going to get the icons from the demo and try to upload individual icons, but I can't be bothered to put that much work into it...
