I find that sprint thing a million times easier when I'm holding square to run instead (ED controls 4-lyfe)

But yeah, you don't even need the bar on there. You get plenty of time to react when Noctis starts looking tired. I do it out of the corner of my eye/by habit without even thinking of it, and that was just from a single 7 hour demo run.
I just like attacking with square, I'm so used to it using circle is weird. I also got accostumed to warping with instead of with triangle. Running with a simple R3 press also comes naturally, it'd be a problem if I had to hold the button all the way.

Never played Duscae, though, so that might be it.

I'll probably tweak some of the inputs (I think we could, but I'm not too sure).

Ah, right. It's weird, as hyped as I am about this game, I never truly paid attention to ED.

And yeah, in my control scheme you can run by using square, but you can't (only tried twice) replenish your ST bar by using it IF you've already been running through R3.

Oh, btw: being able to listen to previous FF songs in the go is great.. I won't be using it much at first, as, even if they're comparatively scarcer and lower in sound, I want to listen to Yoko's soundtrack, which is, so far, amazing.

But I sure as hell will be chilling with Blue Fields and, especially, Over the Hill, my favourite EVER Final Fantasy song. So many memories with it, man.

I thought I'd like ED's control scheme better, but I went back to Type A. Incidentally, the most noticeable glitch I've encountered is scrolling through the control options. Some of the button descriptions change language, like French.

ED control scheme is superior as the two main actions - attack and defend - are designated to a different hand.
It's more reactive.

It's much faster to lift your finger off square and put your left finger on l1 (you can actually have that held down, if you so choose) then lifting and moving the same finger.

It's just easier and allows you more control on when to do a quick dodge roll. You can also defend while moving the camera as the right thumb is freed for the analogue.

Hmm they said they added moves that appeared in kingsglaive. But i would really like to see the warp like they showed it in the movie (you know, with all that shiny orange and violet stuff that you leave behind). Imo it looks way better than this simple blue ether lol... And i dont get why it is showed in two completely different ways...

My plan is to limit the radio use to the car while playing the main story, then use the phone when playing side quests and other optional content post-game. That way, I get the proper canon experience while also guaranteeing that I'll never get sick of anything in particular. Win/win!

Man, nearly got spoiled by youtube comments, glad im scroll fast enough, Its fucking impossible to dodge everything. You either leave internet or get some spoilers anyway.

Its just fucking embarrassing.
Well, there is one bright side to the spoiler nonsense -- it goes to show that the release of a new Final Fantasy is still an event. Omnipresent spoilers tend to be associated with major properties, after all.

This read is somewhat corroborated by Jason Schreier's tweet that FFXV gets a lot of traffic on Kotaku. People are clearly paying attention to this game (even if some of that is the result of Squenix pursuing the Trump strategy of "get people talking about you constantly whether it's positive or not" xD ).

I used to standart control with square on defence and circle on attack. Also i think that trinagle for warp-strike works better!
I like triangle for warp strike too, but it's a lot easier to switch from attack to defense when I don't need to move my thumb to the opposite face button. (I'm also kind of hoping that the Duscae trick still works and Noct can phase between strikes. >.> )

Lol be it Omen or kingsglaive, the warp look is exactly the same... Its different just in the game.
Actually...

When Nyx received the power of the Lucii, his warps became thoroughly blue, like Noct's. They changed back to being orange and smokey by the end of the fight, though.

That same orange and smokey effect can be found again in the Omen trailer tho. Soo i dont really get why this "blue thing" when in both the movie and the trailer it was pretty different from the game. But they might as well update it. They really put a lot of effort in this game, and continuously listen to feedbacks. I'd also like a different HUD :3

So, I'm not really following any threads anymore so close to release, but I wanted to leave my ideal control scheme I came up with here:

Phase (hold) / Roll-dodge = L1
Attack / Sprint (hold) = R1
Jump = L2
Warp = R2
Summon = L3
Lock on = R3
Techniques = Triangle
Tactical / Chocobo = Square
Sprint = X
Map = Circle

This way I rarely have to take my right thumb off the stick to sprint, jump, warp, and attack :) I assume you can freely customize the controls, no? Can somebody confirm?

In-game, it looks like you can only select from the two options, but you can re-map the controls on the PS4 itself just like you might do on a PC, so you can make it whatever you want. The only downside to this is that it changes those buttons for everything, including PS4 menus and other games and whatnot, so it may be a pain in the butt unless you're only playing this game for a while.

I'm not sure if it changes the button prompts in-game, either. I've never actually tried it. I could see that going either way.

I see, thanks. Man, would've been so nice. First thing I'll do is to try out that global mapping feature. Or could you maybe do it now? I don't have a PS4 yet.
