Tabata says the sales figures in the current japanese gaming market are quite nice. Overseas sales are looking bright.
That sounds promising. Great to hear it's doing well. I'd like more ff games in the future :)

They still have a week to release that PRO Patch that was promised.
Very true. Although as much as I love the transparency and dedication, I can't help but feel that sometimes promising things in advice is like shooting themselves in the foot ^^"

I'd much rather they announced things when they're near completion to avoid backlash if they can't meet the goal and need to delay. Goodness knows the scrutinising and backlash for this game is insurmountable enough as is.

Right up there Ferarri says that in 2013 when they had around 200 people working on the game the story had not been defined and it kept changing every three months. Just so you know Nomura didn't leave XV until December 2013 so what he is talking about here is stuff that happened throughout 2013, which means it was when Nomura was still Director, confirming that the story was constantly changing under Nomura. Team was also very disorganized.

Holy shit.

EDIT: Improved translation here: http://m.neogaf.com/showpost.php?p=227127355

Goddamnit Nomura.

If Squenix wanted the game out the door by the end of November 2014, story reconfiguration would be practically inevitable. XD; They weren't even using "next-gen" assets in the E3 2013 trailer; it'd have required them to make most of a current-gen game in less than two years. And chopping the story to bits to get something out the door is the way video game companies tend to deal with that sort of thing.

...I can kind of see the way this went down, in light of this, as Squenix telling Nomura that he only had until the end of 2014, Nomura basically saying that was insane and impossible (because it was), and Squenix then going to Tabata to see if he could give them a solid date (which ended up being September of 2016, because "end of 2014" was, in fact, insane and impossible).

The end of 2016 was also insane and impossible. And Tabata and team delivered a great game. I suppose I'm guilty of dreaming what could have been had they had more time -- similar to the head-canon of the Versus era. I do find the fact they're planning on doing updates encouraging. We know about the upcoming DLC, but also Tabata recently made more comments to updating games throughout their lifecycle. Wishful thinking, but maybe they can restore some of the original planned content. I would gladly pay for that.

The sales in Japan are good, okay I would say. Approximate sales from release day (excluding pre-orders) in Japan is about 850000 as of today.
That's pretty great considering the console gaming market in Japan is in the state it is in.

It does make me wonder though will Square continue to make AAA titles despite Japan not being their main demographic anymore? The western market is enough to earn back the sales so curious as to what they'll do now.

It's never a good thing to begin production when the story isn't even complete to serve as a guide and reference for everything else. Creates so much waste in the art department :(

Tbh I consider the fact that FFXV turning out to be fun and pretty good in its own right nothing short of a miracle, obvious story issues aside of course.

I, too, am thinking along these lines.

I sincerely hope they restore some originally planned content that would've been added to the game if not for the looming release date weighing on everyone's minds during production.

In chapter 9, you get the feeling it was meant to be way longer after playing it a second time.

I also have reason to believe that
Perhaps Noctis and Luna even met briefly in Altissia before her death since after Luna finished her speech, she gave a reassuring nod towards Noctis, an action that makes more sense after having talked to him previously.

My line of reasoning is, after having not met him in person for so long, spotting him standing in the crowd would've illicited a more strong and surprised reaction from her instead of just a calm, familiar, and reassuring nod.

Call it intuition but I think they did cut a scene here. They looked at each other too calmly for that to be their first time meeting after all those years.

But it's as you say, content updates is very encouraging although I am keeping my expectations in check a little.

If they managed to turn around FF14 1.0, they can do so with this if the company gives the project sufficient support.

So, the new posts from Roberto Ferrari just added credibility to the recent 4chan leaks about the development troubles and cut content of FFXV, and the original Versus plot. Ferrari said how Umbra was supposed to have a human form and join the party at some point. This is exactly what the leak said 2 weeks ago! It's way too random to just have been guessed by someone, let's be real.

[only read the thread if you already finished FFXV]

GAF thread on the leaks:

Here's the Umbra part:

Oh, and someone posted an image of a character on Ferrari's site and asked him if this was Umbra's human form to which Ferrari said "would like to know how did you get this art before answer", which basically confirms it's real. Wonder where that person has it from.

The big CG scene near at the end of Ch. 9 is conditioned on that being Luna's only chance to talk to Noct before passing on. There are two other scenes where she's all, "If I can just talk to him once I'll be satisfied," too. Plus, in the scene where Luna gave her speech, Noct was in tears by the time Luna nodded to him, which makes a bit more sense if he thinks he might have missed his chance to speak with her before she forges the Covenant with Leviathan. (It's not like she didn't expect him to be there, in any case.)

It seems to me that the lack of normal interaction between them was entirely intentional and, in fact, thematically critical. Not having enough time with the people you care about is such a big thing in XV that they had Florence Welch write a song about it. =P

A very valid interpretation. That's one way of looking at it.

I guess I found her casually acknowledging him after not having seen him for so long was a tad odd is all.

I must say if this is true or credible in the least, I really do like that design for Umbra. Very badass and mysterious.

Edit: I honest to goodness hope Ferrari's job isn't in jeapordy or he doesn't get into massive trouble for writing these comments.

Do you have any idea how much I wanted this to happen?!?

Finally!

And with the tracks that I wanted to hear too! Gonna get the piano collections music sheet once they're out and learn my favourite pieces xD

I have to wonder though, why didn't they add in the other tracks that Storm mentioned?
