Now I've experienced the story in full, I'll say what I wasn't expecting to say. This is a better story than Nier, or any of the earlier Drakengard titles. Its themes and characters are so well designed that it's just wonderful, and knowing about both Nier and Drakengard gives me so much more enjoyment from the references and Easter Eggs they put in. Do still wish they could use the branching narrative style the first Drakengard used, but that could get infuriating, so I'll not complain too much.

Without spoiling too much, I never thought I'd see a Yoko title with a 'happy' ending, but he's proven me wrong and I thank him for it. Not that it's without its sad parts - Emil's narrative just made me feel hollow inside, and Pascal's arc broke my heart.

Yoko Taro wasn't lying when he said he likes girls. 98% of the game are girls. Even the robots are voiced by cute girls.

Panty shots? No moar! Now you can get the full thing!

I think autosaving is way overrated and should be brought under control before it smothers the industry like.... well, generic shooters that rely on star power over substance and story. I actually enjoyed the tension of no autosave to a degree. But then, I experienced games before autosave was a feature of any game. Also, it does sort of fit in with the overall story.

auto-save is not always a "good" thing (as is beneficial for the player), see souls games.

if you screw up a NPC questline it's over because it auto-saves every time.

But FFXV auto-saves like a boss. It auto-saves only under certain circumstances and it's not foul-proof either. Not saving manually can still screw you over if you are not careful.

I think everything after the fall of the Bunker is more tense. Going through the towers with 9S, having these long stretches of gameplay just to screw up in the end and having to do it all over again because there are no checkpoints.

Started on route B... and whilst I do not exactly dislike 9S, I'm not really enjoying this playthrough that much as I did on route A. I just started to get really used to the insane combos as I got my main 4 weapons to level 4, but route B is like fk that... limits you to only one weapon per set;; It's like a massive downgrade. Luckily I finished all the side quests available in route A, so I can rush route B and move on to route C which I think will give me back my 4 weapon combo.

I actually had no idea that I was close to the end when I was playing as 2B, so I still have plenty of side quests to do. So far 9S is pretty underwhelming.

I thought there'd be much more conversation now that it's been released everywhere! I've only played for 5-6 hours and I'm already completely hooked. What a masterpiece.
I imagine people want to give more time for the dust to settle before talking about it openly. Most people probably haven't gotten all the main endings yet.
