If this is a really boring plot then I wonder what XV's plot summary(the leak was to you), blandness incarnate?
it was way less detailed and even then i found that plot summary mostly fine; some plot points were more exciting in my head reading the summary than in the actual game tho.

Assuming the above is even remotely true (an exercise in futility if there ever was one), that plot is a damn mess.
I don't think it's that synopsis was ever real for a reason that's been overlooked - Versus followed the mythos of FNC quite closely up to and including all terminology, but nothing in there said FNC to me (and I know my stuff). It sounds more like someone took the Etro name and stuck it on a divinity of their own devising. In every core FNC, Etro is physically dead and existing as humanity's guardian, Pulse and Lindzei manipulate mankind through the Crystals for their maker Bhunivelze, and humans either submit or rebel against the Crystals' will. There aren't even any beings that could qualify as l'Cie, or fal'Cie, or anything that the Versus framework originally used as part of its core design.

I'd believe Noctis and Stella's families and the main antagonist being l'Cie tied to the plan to open Etro's Gate, and Etro's gift to them was a means of unlocking their magics without a l'Cie contract, freeing them of the gods' control.

Aye, that it was. It started off alright but kinda fell off the rails towards the end.

An interesting line is thought is, fan reaction to the trilogy's conclusion would've been the same as it is now: "so much potential but the plot is a damn mess"

Only difference is us fans were spared the wait time in between games and SE didn't sink too much money into the project.

Not really this plot sounds fine to me and I like the fact you could at least visit every area(except solhiem), The thing is the current XV was really really really below my expectations . I actually like that this story uses the emperor Verstal and Ravus more. Even Stella while only appearing more later on in the game has a more interesting role to me that Luna ever did here. The reason I complain so much about current XV is that these characters are used so poorly like some of them appearing in only 1 or 2 scenes. If stuff like the usage of characters was greater and they weren't just thrown in just cause they were in early XV trailers, I wouldnt have even complained that much, also allowing us to visit just a few more places. Really all I wanted. I wouldnt even care if the plot was a mess if the game felt fuller and more complete with all the characters they set up and teased at least being given more screentime and places teased at least being traversable even if it was a small portion (like a small portion of Tenabre) And I really like that ending in this leak, FNC lore is really interesting its just that the game it was mostly associated with (13) wasent that great.

Hey guys what if this is the plot of Versus XV, and Nomura is directing part 1 of it after Kingdom Hearts 3 with the Osaka Team.
Less scope that XV, but with lots to do in it, make the world open, but not open world like Versus XIII was supposed to bex

Final Fantasy Versus XIII doesn’t have an open world. The upcoming PlayStation 3 game has the feeling of a 2D Final Fantasy game in HD.

“There have been many questions related to the field, it is not a completely open world, it has the feeling of a 2D FF in HD,” Tetsuya Nomura tweeted. However, the game does not use a top down perspective with a sprite on a map. Nomura says Final Fantasy Versus XIII world looks like the screenshots and players will move through the world from that perspective.

Nomura also said he is casting roles for Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII. In fact, Final Fantasy Agitio XIII is next after The 3rd Birthday’s voice recording finishes.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII will not be at Gamescom, though. Nomura said, like E3, The 3rd Birthday and Kingdom Hearts will be there.

Constraining the scope should reduce development time, and allow more focus on the storytelling that's what is the most important. Oh and make it like the 2011 Trailer, I'll settle for the 2013 Trailer, but I was kinda disappointed when it changes from the Kingdom Hearts menu system.

That's not saying much considering your bias toward anything Versus XIII related. You still haven't learned anything from Nomura in terms of game play design. Anything, and I mean anything, can sound good on paper or look great in a trailer. I'm sure you recall the early Leviathan footage which in the end became quite a bit different. Even if the PS4 could perform such a task, the amount of time and resources put into it would have been a significant detriment to other parts of the game. FNC already has at least 4 games under its belt (Type - 0 and FFXIII trilogy). So I'm fine with XV departing from that lore to create a more fresh experience. In the multiple game scenario game sales would have decreased for each installment, regardless of the quality. This happened with X to X-2, and XIII trilogy. Sure, some assets were reused and the overall sequel game became cheaper, but it still impacts the quality of the overall game despite if one can enjoy it more than the prior title.

Hmm I dunno.

I'm pretty sure everyone here (or at least I hope so) knows that something sounding good on paper may not exactly translate well in game.

Like I said, the beginning (or the 1st game) sounds pretty good, and Clarus betraying Regis sounded very interesting and Shakespearean. It certainly added in more juicy bits regarding the relationship between Noctis and Gladio, especially with the latter leaving to wrap his head around his father being a traitor.

My issue is with the supposed ending. You can really see the Kingdom Hearts influence here and it really does get all convoluted and messy. My stance still stands that fan reaction would most likely be "yeah the first game was great but now it's really going downhill" ,and "great game but the story needs more work."

Given how much content was gonna be shoved in, the Versus 13 trilogy would have turned out like the Kingdom Hearts games.

Remember: we still don't have KH3 yet and it's been over 10 years!

Versus 13 would've gone down the same route.

Versus XIII is like the 7 Remake not KH.
Also it being 10 years and not gotten KH3 has more to do with Square Enix's financial situation at the time, as well as their development situation. If KH3 was to be it would have been using Ebony.

To this day, the only thing agreed on is that Tabata absolutely ruined the work of genius and is the number one piece of garbage that silenced a decade of brilliance.
A bit over dramatic of a post from you isn't it? I hate people like you on the internet that feel they can speak for every single person. To me, Tabata is not garbage at all. Does he have short-comings? Absolutely, but so does every single other human alive. Your post mainly focuses on the story of Versus. However, there are a lot of factors that go into making a story a reality. The longer a development is on a project, the more likely things are to change. Goal intentions can change (deadlines being moved, scope changing, quality changing). Directors can change such as in the rare case of FFXV. That's just a part of gaming development. A LOT of games have some awesome concept art and etc. that never see the light of day in a game. That's why it's important for that type of artist in the gaming industry to not to try and get overly attached to their work as it may not make the final cut.

The full story of VS will come out one day in a published book, and it will be after Roberto is no longer with SE, just as his drawing were randomly published.
Seeing as we're on the internet, you'll forgive me for being skeptical and not believing a word of this.

Question: isn't there usually a NDA (non-disclosure agreement) contract when it comes to this stuff? You can't just publish a book talking smack about a company. The legal ramifications would break the author's bank. This is especially so if the "full story of VS" is the story behind it's development.

I'm pretty sure when you're employed to work for a company, you're not allowed to disclose to the public what goes on behind closed doors. The contract would most likely extend to even after that person leaves the company.

SE is a pretty big, publicly traded company. They're not going to let something like that happen.

I posted it here because this is the only place I know with the largest gatherings of FFVersus old fans. I seek no fame, no nothing. Please.
1. I think you're attention seeking pretty hardcore right now.
2. You seek nothing? I don't believe you. One of your prior posts you decided to take a jab at Tabata.
3. Biggest gathering of Versus XIII old fans? I can count on one hand the number of pro-Versus XIII fans on this forum. I really don't consider that number big.
4. Even if I assumed you to be truthful to your word, you still failed about handling information which makes you pretty unreliable in my eyes. If the information was wanted to be made public to ANY degree, then it would have been done. As @Jubileus mentioned prior, there are contracts that go into effect with such information.
5. This is the internet so anything that you post can spread to larger sites in an instant. A lot of the stuff that you do on the internet isn't as private as you may think it is.

I don't think you thought this through very well, but that's just my viewpoint.
