It will be interesting to see how the week plays out. I think Square may be attempting to manage fan expectations as their current plans don't go past Early 2018 with the PC release.

Honestly speaking, this isn't even much diffetent from the VII compilation considering that title's success back then.
Bruh it's a lot different than the VII compilation

FFVII Compilation is like the MCU

FFXV Compilation is like the DCEU

The MCU started with Iron Man 1 and had no intention of making an entire cinematic universe while it was on the cards Iron Man 1 wasn't made with this in mind they did it gradually.
Similar to the FFVII Compilation FFVII was just FFVII didn't have a compilation in mind it wasn't developed for that they treated the game as if it was there last.

The FFXV Compilation is like the DCEU it forced a cinematic universe to happen from Man of Steel straight to Justice League 0.1 and Suicide Squad.

Terrible analogy considering Iron Man 1 has a post credit scene teasing The Avengers...

The only thing i want is the survey update and plans to move forward from that.

I doubt there will be an expansion announcement though. At least not at this time (and i believe even that was referring to something else).

EDIT: Apparently Tabata just stated that there are no plans for new content post-PC release (dunno if he meant Universe or main game):

Shuya or Rin plz?
Okay some things that jumped out at me:
- First-person view available in Windows Edition (WTF!? :D Then I heard it's in the trailer lol)
- PC version of XV is basically like a "If XV existed on PC only, what would it look like?" kind of a thing
- Upcoming plans within the year for console version are also planned for PC. Afterward, nothing is officially planned yet for either version
- Pocket Edition is gonna cost about $25+ in Japan. Each individual episode will cost ~$3.

EDIT: Just watched the trailer, wow!!

and The Incredible Hulk, which even had a Tony Stark cameo at the end and released at the same year.
Still treated the movie like it was their last and built their cinematic universe organically, they built them self-contained without taking into consideration of the future, they planned their movies as movies while each movie built up to the Avengers. Marvel with Iron Man 1 didn't try to force a universe to happen.

They treated it as if this movie fails it's over for the MCU.

Yes three games was supposed to happen but for some reason didn't and insteas we get this XV poorly made not knowing the definition universe hopefully after KH3 they let Nomura take another crack at it a XV Universe 2.0 if you will 3 games as intended with DLC interlinking them think requiem of the Goddess

"1.Why did they change Regis' design
2.Why did Nomura leave FFXV
3.How long is the game (playtime) and is the map really as big as they say?"
1.Because they had to rewrite a lot of story to cut it down from a trilogy to one game and the dad character got changed a lot. Also to make him look more like the Kingsglave design
2.Because of said Nomura trilogy hopes, and because Square would rather have him on KH3 and FF7 remake. With Nomura it would have been good, but would have taken way more time just to get part 1 out, like an extra 2 years
3.~40 hours right now, but they're trying to bump it to about 50 by strongly encouraging more fetch quests. The map isn't done in a playable form, it's segmented levels right now, some of which work and some don't

The only thing officially said regarding sequels for Versus was that it was "multiple games', not "three games". And we didn't even know Versus was going to have sequels until Tabata mentioned it in the June 2015 ATR.

I just wanted to make a point about the team updating the story with ya'll.

If we do get it, ever, it would likely be one massive update. Imagine them incrementally adding to the game's story (2nd half mostly, as per their message to everyone about mid term goals) over a period of time. Why would anyone play their game repeatably like just to see additions to the story? One large update is likely they way they'd go, and with this I feel is the reason we haven't heard any news about it yet. We never got an updated version of FFXIII, but we got sequels. Since this game is likely similar to XII in that regard, I can see them calling the update "international" or something related to the games lore (I.e. Zodiac Age, FFX International, etc.). I think its the easiest way for them to save face.

Hell, it could be that unannounced news they mentioned though. Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in about it.

Very good point.

It does make sense for them to do it all in one go.

Also, another thought came to mind. Perhaps they didn't make any announcements (yet anyway) about the story updates is because they want to avoid the VS13 mistake, yknow showing things way too early only for them to not be in the game.

So in a way, the silence and privacy is giving the team more freedom and less pressure when it comes to creating the content?

With that being said, it'd be pretty dope if the announcement was related to the story patch.

"There's a certain metric we use to judge success," Tabata said through a translator. "After one month from the game's release, how many players had completed the game, seen the ending, was actually very low. Only 30% one month after."

"After that, as we continued to go back to the game - we promised this before release, we're not going to release it and be done with it - and I feel we very much have achieved that. Because recently we checked that metric again, and [the completion rate] is now up to 60%. That really fills us with a lot of confidence, and it's justified our approach, so it's something I'm very happy with."

There may have been a mistranslation regarding future content in 2018.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=246811308&postcount=10681

Upon reading the article and asking a co-worker to translate, there may have been a mistranslation here. It seems Tabata is stating the team hasn't "decided what the schedule of updates are after the PC release." He doesn't even mention "2017 Plan" or 2018.
