@Lulcielid i didnt and dont have any intention to bring that 'thing' here. What i wanted to point was we should be careful with him. Before i wrote my post yesterday, i was reading ff xv topic on gaf and another one. After that i checked this forum and saw the same post, word in word. This and gaf forum arent the only places where he posted his identical post, word in word. He just wants a lot of attention.

"But he was clear about one thing: the Luminous Engine that Square Enix has so painstakingly invested in over many years, and that has thus far produced only one game, has a future. Luminous will be used to make new games on PC and console—there may even be one in the works already."

I think we've got everything we've wanted to do with Final Fantasy XV out of Luminous Engine," says Tabata. "Certainly the next project we're looking forward to doing now we can only do because of that experience developing Final Fantasy XV. We fully intend to use the luminous engine, and keep tweaking it, and upgrading it, and taking it to the next level."
Luminous is here to stay.

Now the next step would be other Bussness Divisions using the engine to make games, it would a waste if BD2 were the only ones using it.

What? Sharing my thoughts on multiple forums (a general gamer forum and a final fantasy niche forum) isn't Attention begging. This is silly. I'm not gonna engage with this anymore.

I'm really just waiting on fan meeting tomorrow, even if there is a chance that this may be the final gamescom announcement. Who knows, maybe this announcement could be it for Gamescom and that they're saving the story content stuff for a later event (not that i'd be too happy but honestly it is probable at this point), or even the next day.

I get feeling anxious (to a certain degree), and while waiting can be a drag, if it means getting enhanced narrative content when its ready & scheduled then so be it.

If plenty of us could get past the 10 year wait, then this literally not a huge big deal in comparison.
I think you're right about the date. So when does it start? Must be going on now, right? Fingers crossed/prayers

If it was to take place 2000 years ago, I'd rather it be an entire game too.

However the issue lies in creating the assets for such a setting to take place.

I think it would take place during his time within the Empire since they might not have the time and budget for the former.
there's no point in creating a story for his days in the empire imo, the point of interest in his backstory lies in the distant past; also since they put Ifrit's betrayal as an option on the survey, i think they are well aware of what that entails, which is recreating Solheim/past events at some extent (obviously with lots of wallpapers vistas like in FFXIII).

anyway i could see them reusing assets of some of the dungeons already present in the game like costlemark/pitioss which are from solheim era.

edit: currently watching this lecture about video game presentation by amy green (her examples are Mafia III, MGSV and FFXV).

talking about FFXV begins at 37 mark

I wouldn't be surprised if they're doing what EA did with Frostbite, leaving it within one high-level team for a few years/games before spreading it throughout the rest of the company. Though, given that BD2 has a much slower release schedule than DICE does, they might consider doing so after the next game rather than after a few more. XD;

they'd never let them die off-screen

edit: tbh when tabata says he's going to improve the story, is that through dlcs or in the main game? releasing episodes apart from the main game doesn't fix it, the base game is still the same; that's why i think they should include the dlc portions also on the main game.

if one plays the pc version the experience will be the same story-wise, since the season pass is already included on that version it would be interesting if they integrated the episodes (like how you can choose to follow gladio on chapter 13, you can now follow prompto after he falls off the train and so on) because most will play the dlcs after the base game and feel the base game was lacking.

this would tie nicely with the new option to replay any chapter you want, and would give the player more choice.

I'd figure they'd probably either go the cutscene route or do "verse 2"-esque chapters but bigger. I definitely think additional story cutscenes are in the cards.

They'll use survey results and feedback from fan gatherings like today's to decide on the next step

So they're definitely saving the results for later this year.
