I've been away from home and haven't played Comrades all that much. I'm still at the beginning stages lol.

Those photos look awesome @Storm. They're such a tease since I won't be able to resume playing until I get back in a couple of days from travel D=

So far, I'm just steering clear of spoilers.

It would seem that we may get some sort of update to Chapter 14.:
Seriously, it directly contradicts the beginning of ch. 14 originally. So I wonder if this will be what the meant by your comrades character joining the party as a 5th member and have a true WoR.

Edit: And there is heavy evidence that this is getting updated with new content.

-Half the royal sigils locked
-One of the garrison bases is a locked option from Leide but cannot be accessed.
- Several NPC's talk about bringing power to Accordo and Galahd (Not to mention Galahd gets mentioned a crap ton more now).
- The main title screen says to look out for updates (if it wasn' obvious enough).

Man, I'm excited to play this game in full.

so i just got the squeaky hammer and a dagger that makes me dance like kenny crow lol

also the quests against the gryffin (this one with airstep man...), behemoth, and cateoplebas were the best so far, fighting big enemies is a lot better here.

finished the main campaign of comrades

dem cutscene before the boss was awesome.

the final boss was more epic and well-done than Ardyn's fight, it might be my favorite fight from the game, and the setting and boss moves reminded me a lot of Dark Souls.

SPOILERS
you can get some clue of the world state during the 10 years in the ending credits, with giant Nidus/Niduses filling the landscape.

the lucis kings ability of summoning weapons is originally from bahamut, when he descends to angelgard he is surrounded by dozens of crystal magic swords... also the final cutscene/fight really sells the idea he's the god of war.

edit:
supposedly translated from the same famitsu interview with tabata nova quoted above:

What kind of content will next year's DLC be?

The plan is to deliver something that many fans have requested, and something that nobody has even imagined.

Right now we're at the stage of setting in stone the content of each DLC, while at the same time reworking our development structure.

Unlike this year where we developed at speed in order to get multiple items released within the year, we're narrowing it down to a few items in the hope that we'll be able to develop them more solidly than we have so far.

Just defeated the final boss of Comrades at Lv. 23. I have to say, the AI party members are incredibly competent -- I rarely lost all of them, even though I kept playing missions that had a recommended level ten levels higher than what I was (and therefore what they were).

I have to say, the story structure of Comrades is pretty weird, even though I really liked what was there. Early on, it felt like there was going to be quite a bit of story content, but the lore snippets were heavily concentrated at the beginning of the expansion and the final boss sequence. The lack of real cutscenes involving the Chocobros stood out like a sore thumb in that regard.

With that said, the final boss sequence was ace. The cutscene featuring the Hexatheon, in particular, was one of the coolest things that FF has ever done. I like the retcon with Noct meeting the Kingsglaive after he gets off the boat (especially because it actually explains what the boat is doing there), and I feel like it should be worked back into the main game (along with some of Comrades' earlier story missions and lore dumps). I will never stop saying that a director's cut version of FFXV with all of the DLC appearing in-place could be incredible.

On a different note, I love how Comrades continued to play up the Christian influences in FFXV's lore. I feel like more could have been done with the theme of sin and atonement (I was kind of expecting to learn what sin my avatar had actually committed), but having it there at all was pretty neat, especially with the lore note that Ramuh would judge unrepentant sinners. One of the NPCs even called the Cosmogony "the good book," lol.

I'm looking forward to starting Monster of the Deep tomorrow. Some of the things in that trailer should be awesome in VR. XD

Just me, but I found the Christian parallels just forced and boring. Why can't they stick to the Eastern elements this revamped mythos is apparently built on, which wouldn't need too much adjustment and would be just as spectacular. It would also make more sense in that context not just having the almighty Bahamut but a score of divine beings (aka kami/yokai from JP folklore). But that's more being picky than anything.

would that be considered a retcon? the original scene had noctis waking up at the island and scene cuts to him already in the boat in his way to galdin quay; i feel like the added scene filled the void in between rather than offer a contradiction imo (although it betrays the sense of complete solitude of the original segment).

And what have changed? The ending story mission shows us that Glaives got redemption for their sin and they kept coming to an island during all this 10 years to meet Noctis. While they were on continent, island was protected by Shiva. What we got from comrades are answers on what happend with glaives, how they can use magic and how boat appeared on island.

FFXV's revamped mythos always seems to have limited the Eastern elements to external characteristics while leaning more heavily on its Western elements for its themes. Comrades playing up the Western elements is consistent with that.

With that said, I feel like Comrades in particular might have gone back to the Versus well, mostly because of how perfectly it aligns with KHUx. If KHUx really is Nomura taking advantage of an opportunity to play with themes he didn't get to use in Versus (kind of like how KH358/2 drew on the friendship/tragedy themes that Nomura was talking up in Versus at the time), then the sin-and-absolution theme -- which KHUx is obsessed with -- could have come from him.

I thought that Noct had already traveled to Galdin when the Kinsglaive showed up. If not, you're right that it's not really a retcon, even if it changes the feel significantly.
