But i am more afraid of something else : SE is talking about "surprises" for a while now.

I think that Lightning Returns poor sales changed SE's mind about Final fantasy sequels. They now know that they cannot rely on direct sequels in order to make easy profit after the big investments on the mainline title.

And i think SE is really preparing a BIG surprise about how they will monetize FF titles from now. I think they might have been influenced by the success shown by MMOs or episode games like TellTales' The Walking Dead for example

Maybe they will release FF15 in small episodes (like 3 hours of main quest + 3 hours of side quests per episode). It has the advantage of spreading investments and revenue on a long time. And this is technically possible (keep characters progression, save equipments between episodes,...)

Here is the exact translation from one if the teasing tweet of Square Enix France : "Seriously, there will be announcements at E3, and you definitely don't want to miss them ! "
I know this doesn't mean anything, but last year they did something simular but it was an event called " Future of Final Fantasy". Even though there is no event as of yet ( they could still announce an event still kinda early for them to announce something like that yet). Them just saying, Announcements at E3 and that we don't wanna miss them, I seriously hope they are referring to FFXV. Because I don't wanna miss them! :p

Is this a joke...?

Keep in mind there's currently not many titles for the new consoles. So I think both Sony and MS (probably mostly Sony) will ask SE for stuff to keep hyping the new consoles.

Not that my predictions normally come to pass, because I usually don't base them on anything substantial, but I wager that the game will appear in some capacity, but I'm not expecting the sort of double-bill trailers of last year's re-reveal. I can see a kind of composite trailer where half of it is material we've already seen, and the other half a vague fusion of scripted scenes, cutscenes, and combat gameplay. I'd love to have an extensive peak at how world traversal looks, and how it's changed since the ancient trailer from 2008 or 9, but I'm not expecting it.

I think this E3 for Square-Enix will be the E3 of Deus Ex, maybe Hitman, maybe Tomb Raider, maybe even Sleeping Dogs sequel if we're lucky, and a small army of new mobile endeavours, including the English version of Agito. And in that regard, I'm not expecting Type-0. Those are more than enough to cover the bases, along with a short, vague composite FFXV trailer.

A proper show at TGS seems quite likely. You want to actually sell the current generation consoles to the Japanese base after all, and thus far they've had the least reasons to put their Vitas, 3DSs and iPads down and pick up a new black box for their TV, so a full-blown FFXV show at September makes considerable sense.

I personally won't be too disappointed, because after the eons of waiting, I'm more excited for a new Deus Ex and Sleeping Dogs than I am of FFXV. It would help if Square-Enix would cease electing to dampen my enthusiasm by incessantly throwing out buzzwords about a persistent online experience though.

How can someone have this opinion with your avatar and signature.

Anyways, Deus EX is all on Eidos and Sleeping Dogs with United Front, I don't see why they would take over for first party titles from Square Enix. A large portion of the FFXV fanbase is American (at least English based) so reserving all major information for TGS only would be silly, especially after SE announced that they realize their global reach with their first party titles.

It would be silly if the game were to be released, say, worldwide Q1 2015; but I don't think that's going to happen. There's always another E3.

True. But other then the american titles they have what. Type-0, KH 2.5 HD, FFXV, and FF14: ARR (Would that be on thee main stage ya think? Or its own thing?). So the titles they do show could realistically be any of them, heck it could even be FF Curtain Call, though i dont keep up with news on this game.

It's not so much a matter of taking over, it's a matter of the company being in a position where it can afford to keep quiet on the FF15/KH3 front if they're not ready because Eidos can essentially keep them afloat. Prior to having Eidos, if Square had showed up at E3 and had a showing of the type I believe this year's will end up being, shareholders would've been screaming for blood asking where FF, KH and the other AAA titles were. A reality of the company being how it is and the size it is now means that the company can show off Western titles on years when the Japanese aren't ready and Japanese when the Western aren't to keep the appearance of a constant flow of high-quality, high-impact titles.

PS: Eidos is still first-party to Square, y'know. They're one and the same!

@Fleur I too am ridiculously excited for both a new Deus Ex and a new Sleeping Dogs. I'm nervous about the idea of online/social/multiplayer stuff leaking into Deus Ex, but Sleeping Dogs I will take whatever they give. A man isn't a real man without a pork bun, etc.

Final Fantasy XIV will be there for sure and I'm sure that KH2.5 will be there.

Semi-frustration.

It doesn't mean in absolute terms I've lost interest in FFXV! Far from it. But there's only so much waiting and long periods of drought one can go through before realising that there are probably other games worth investing interest in more at this particular moment in time. Once you've been conditioned to expect little from this elusive game after all this time, it's easy to let the interest in it wane, and for good reasons. It's also happening with The Last Guardian. The longer it continues to be elusive, the weaker my interest in it becomes relative to other games I'm looking forward to. It becomes secondary.

I don't wish to compare Eidos with SE Japan's offerings and weigh in on which side is better, though at heart, I will always have a particular preference for the Japanese side, but the company's western offerings have done more to satisfy me in the last few years than SE Japan's have.
