Light and darkness must be in balance or the world will suffer. Too bad repairing the imbalance just seems to make the side you'd protected into the next threat years down the line.

Redemption is possible regardless of your past crimes. It just drops you down to Level 1.

Alternatively: heroic sacrifices are not only awesome, but also generally survivable (unless you're an old man).

If you pretend to be someone else for too long, you might end up losing sight of who you really are... and helping an omnicidal momma's boy destroy the world.

Life is valuable, even if it's transient. Don't destroy others just because you're upset that your own time is short.

Nothing is quite as effective at offering closure with one's abusive father as realizing that dad turning into the Big Bad is the only chance anyone has of stopping it once and for all.

The Powers that Be are jerks who want to control humanity, but you've gotta destroy the only dissenter regardless because politics.

Even if you don't have a contingency plan, defying fate will work out as long as you believe in the Power of Friendship.

Salvation requires sacrifice, so you can't fight fate.

Like that? ;)
