So apparently Terra Battle Wikia community members asked some questions for Hironobu Sakaguchi about his upcoming project. One question asked if he ever considered a collaboration together with Tetsuya Takahashi, creator of the Xeno games.
Have you ever considered a collaboration together with Tetsuya Takahashi (Monolith Soft)? You both have made some of the best RPG's in history and it would be great to see a Mistwalker and Monolith Soft collaboration. – A Wikia contributor

HS: That sounds interesting.
If I get a chance to go out with him for drinks, I’ll bring it up.
Who knows, this might go somewhere.
I’ve known him since the FF4 days, and I personally love his art style - I think we could build a beautiful world brimming with life.
I've personally enjoyed The Last Story and when I beat it, I couldn't help but to ask myself three questions.

1) What would this game be like if it had a bigger budget?
2) What would this game be like if it were surrounded by talent?
3) What would this game be like in HD?

If Mistwalker teamed up with Monolith Soft, all three of those questions would be addressed. They would also have Nintendo's backing as well.

I want this to happen. So. God. Damn. BADLY!

I mean... Shit dudes!

Of course, right now it would be difficult. Monolith Soft is working on Xenoblade Chronicles X and Mistwalker is working on Terra Battle and will make a MMORPG if the game is downloaded 2 million times.

Is this something you guys would like to see happen?

It was pointed out to me on another forum that Sakaguchi said that he wanted to work with Takahashi in a Iwata Asks column too!

Sakaguchi:
Things which at first don’t seem to have any connection can be brought together and then in turn give birth to other ideas. Oh, and there’s another thing: I’d really like to work with you again, Takahashi-san. Sorry to bring that up out of the blue! (laughs)

Takahashi:
Well, it’s been a while, hasn’t it? About a decade.

Iwata:
I’d like to see how the two of you play off each other.

Sakaguchi:
I wonder. After a couple of months, one of us might storm off and that would be the end of that.

Takahashi:
Or maybe if we could just make it through that initial period, then we’d stick it out right to the end.

Iwata:
You’re both saying the same thing, I notice! (laughs) It seems you know exactly how it would be...

Sakaguchi:
When we’re on the same wavelength, then we’re really a perfect match. (laughs) But I think that’s why when we were at Square, we both wanted to work on different things, on different wavelengths.

Takahashi:
You know, if we gave a completely different genre a try, it might end up working well.
