Final Fantasy XV - General News Thread

Squenix has their own E3 conference this year, so it would be entirely viable for them to push KHIII as their flagship property while still including FFXV's continued DLC. Given the amount of time in an E3 presser, I'm sure projects even smaller than FFXV's DLC will be announced/updated.

I assume that it's a made-up word designed to sound like Latin, given that Google translate has no idea what to make of it. The same is true for Es It Foron, as far as I can tell. EDIT: With that said, there are certainly elements that sound like Latin roots. "Venemus" is close to "venimus,"...

I was talking about alternate endings rather than hard mode, but under the circumstances, I might as well make suggestions for that as well. XD KHIIFM+ Critical Mode is pretty much the gold standard for hard modes, so I'm inclined to take inspiration from that. 1) The way that FFXV uses its...

It would be hard to pull off well... though it's fair to point out that it's difficult to pull off anything well. XD; The key is prioritizing the base game's themes over the desire to offer fanservice. If they can do that, I'm sure they can manage something inoffensive at worst. If they...

Final Fantasy XV - General News Thread

Oh, okay. That makes sense. And it does seem fitting that Luna would be the one who sent Pryna to Ignis and to Prompto to help them prepare for what they would need to do for Noct, even without intending to change canon. Episode Ignis also suggests that Luna might have been the one whose...

Final Fantasy XV - General News Thread

Well, considering the fact that the Episodes Ardyn, Luna, and Noct are intended to be connected in a way that the other episodes aren't, I think it's far more likely that the "alternate grand finale" will be its own thing rather than building on Episode Ignis Verse 2. The "secret plan" might...

That video misses the point in almost exactly the same way as I've been complaining about this whole time, though. =/ Alternate endings should never undercut the theme of the work that they're attached to, and taking a game that was a beautifully bittersweet paean to faith and sacrifice and...

They could, but as that would legitimately make the game as a whole worse, I would much prefer they did literally anything else. Also, it's worth pointing out that there's nothing in the descriptions that we were given that specifically suggests rebellion against the Astrals. The description...

Well, obviously it wouldn't make sense if Ardyn knew that he'd get a happy ending too. The idea is that he'd have to be willing to obey the call to sacrifice in order to merit the reward of the ideal ending. =P

Well, even focusing on something tonally opposite can work under the right circumstances. If the point of the perfect ending is its sheer impossibility, then the tonal juxtaposition would actually serve the tragedy of the canon ending. If Ardyn seeks redemption through obedience to his original...

Final Fantasy XV - General News Thread

To be fair, depending on the circumstances required for it to happen, an ideal ending can, in fact, shed light on the reason why the bittersweet ending is canonically necessary. The key, I'm convinced, is Ardyn's agency in his own obvious redemption, because that's the one counterfactual the...

Tabata's "new" gameplay idea for the 2019 DLC.

Okay, how does this sound as a way of justifying the alternate grand finale? 1) Ardyn's episode explores his defiance towards the Astrals and the consequences that has for him. In the canon timeline, his bitterness is fully in control of him and he does something symbolically unforgivable; in...

Final Fantasy XV - General News Thread

Well... they did address the transition between Cartanica Station and the mine in a datalog entry. >_>; Given that it's now canon that ""The famed Fodina Caestina can also be seen from the station, with an elevator providing direct access," it seems unlikely that they intend to change the way...

FFXV 2019 DLC Content Speculation Thread

Bahamut calls the power of Providence that Noctis receives "the sole means to ending the immortal Accursed. A power greater than even that of the Six, purifying all by the Light of the Crystal and the glaives of rulers past." That seems like more than just heavy implication. *shrugs*

Tabata's "new" gameplay idea for the 2019 DLC.

Thinking about this a little more, conditioning the ideal ending on Ardyn's decision could go a long way to avoiding thematic sabotage. If the "everyone lives" ending requires Luna and Noct to cooperate with a repentant Ardyn to allow Ardyn to carry out his initial mission as King of Light (in...
