For years I was thinking FFVII:R was going to be a repeat of FFXV from a PR aspect and development hell (e.g. announced way too soon and ending up on a different platform).

As expected. They were waiting for Kingdom Hearts to hit shelves before pushing the VII Remake. This will be SE's main push all year I'm thinking. As long as they don't make the mistake of announcing FF XVI at E3. Which I'm sure they will for better or worse. Investors probably won't be pleased with just VII Remake being the only public major project. I'm thinking the Avengers project has been secretly cancelled so FF XVI is the only other major play. That or the New IP from Luminous. I'm doubtful on the latter being revealed as at this point I can't tell whether which project would be further along. FF XVI rumored to be from Yoshi-P or LP's new game. Considering the track record both teams, Yoshi-P is likely more reliable and has more to show at this point. Ideally, this game would be the main FF push all year with nothing else huge being announced until the first episode of VII:RE is released.

I can't even be cynical about it. I mean, just look at it! The original art direction being the one thing left untouched makes such a difference. The goofy and clunky looking mechs, and the Sahagins still looking like the Ninja Turtles. So good!

"Hair tonic" okay for clouds hair?? xD

Jessie looks beautiful

Those numbers really look like in the original game, only in blue. Amazing!

So there's TIfa in the menu, but where's she? I think they disabled her to safe the surprise at E3.

Monster design looks cool and realistic

Just love Clouds facial expression.

Those nests in the background look like zerg from Starcraft, love the details.

You can even see his sweat on his nose even in this blurry image. We need a full HD version.

people still complaining about episodic release
I personally am burnt out on the last decade of FF being dominated by XIII and XV and cannot possibly stand the thought of another decade being dominated by another single entry. If they manage to intersperse the releases of the individual episodes with new titles that manage to set themselves apart from VII Remake (XVI and a new larger spin-off) I'll be fine with it though.

I find worrysome how some enemies dont seem to stagger when hit (Cloud hits the mechanical robots), the only exception is the monster hit by Cross-Slash but that's a special (super) move and not regular hits.

I think all of the enemies stagger when they get hit. The robotic thing Barret shoots gets staggered. The Shinra soldier gets thrown back when he does Braver/Punisher. Sahagin gets knocked back after the combo. The last enemy with the Cross Slash gets knocked around when Barret and Cloud attack.

So I've been rewatching the trailer again trying to get a good look at the moment Sephiroth appears and I think that's supposed to be when the upper plate is dropping. I'm guessing it's gonna give Cloud flashbacks back to Niblheim and the flames will trigger a hallucination of Sephiroth. They said a long while ago that Sephiroth was gonna have a bigger presence in the Midgar portion of the story this time around as a looming presence so I'm wondering just how far they're gonna go with that. I'm hoping that they really go to town on the buildup before you actually meet Sephiroth in the remake.

people still complaining about episodic release, not realizing the original game's content is too massive to include in a single title with modern high-production standards...
A lot of people feel they should only have to pay 60 USD for a game and all of the content that releases for it afterward. Given the fact that production on games has not only become longer, but also more expensive on top of the fact the dollar has inflated since the 90s shouldn't support this mentality.

Where are these same complaints for games that main campaign could be completed in 8 hours that people pay 60 USD for? Seems like a hardcore double standard to me.

It should likely be three episodes. One per disc like the original. People thinking this is going be 4-5 episodes are being overzealous. Moreover, the story is complete so after the first episode is out the other two should follow fairly quickly barring no massive developmental hurdles.

I think Episode 1 will be just Midgar, honestly. With Disk 3 being a lot shorter than the other two I have no idea how they will split it. I'm fairly certain they're going to shuffle story events around.

Except it's multiple games, not one.

I really hope it's not just Midgar for part 1 tbh.
I wouldn't mind only having Midgar if they turned into a fully explorable city map with unique sidequests and cool shit to find. I'm fully hoping that maybe we'll even get to use those Midgar highways with the bike as a travel option between the sectors instead of just having to rely on the train all the time.
