That's Luna. That's Noct and Luna at Ardyn's funeral in DotF which is what that concept art was for. None of the DOTF art was "old art", it was all newly created even if they may have been channeling elements of older concepts. Noct is even holding Sword of the Father which was created like 2 years after Stella was already deleted from the game so why would it even be Stella? The figures on the back to the right are also the Lucis royal council wearing their head pieces which were designed specifically for Kingsglaive and then later used in the actual game.

That looks like Ravus's weapon.

And given that Noct is holding Sword of the Father I think it's more fitting that Luna is holding Alba Leonis there, especially since the cover of DotF has Regis and Ravus on the back cover while Noct and Luna are on the front.

And even if it is a Rapier that would more likely just harken back to her prototype Stella having one, either way that art isn't Stella, it is of Luna in a concept for one of their ideas for DotF.

Likewise the concept art of Noct and Luna with children was also just an idea, not something actually fully planned out which is why they even say that the names of the children are up to the readers imagination, that art of them with kids having a picnic with Ardyn was also just a concept art piece and not actually something that the DLC would have implemented. They mentioned how when they first started planning out the DLC they asked various artists on the XV team to draw up their own interpretation of what the "ideal" future for Noct and Luna would be which is why there is various artworks of that nature.
Off topic but god Ravus' design is so cool. Really wish we could've played as him but I guess his role in Episode Ignis will have to do as that's already a huge improvement over his handling at launch.

If they told you to choose one between these episodes, what would you choose?

episode aranea
episode luna
episode noctis
episode ravus
episode nyx
episode regis
episode cor
Episode Aranea was the one that matched the main story and the only that adds something.
E.Luna and Noctis are part of DotF which i'm not fond of.
Ravus is cool as a side character, he could have been a companion in E.Aranea.
Episode Nyx is the movie. And I already have the movie.
Regis doesn't have a story that could be cool to see as gameplay. I would prefer only cutscenes.
And Cor has all his arc completed thanks to Episode Gladio and Royal Edition, he doesn't need more screen time.

It also seems that the gameplay of Aranea would have great

Do you have access to any positive evidence suggesting that a) all concept art in the DotF book is new, b) the Sword of the Father was a late creation rather than something which was created long before we saw it (possibly for a different purpose, e.g. Noct's ultimate weapon), and c) the royal council's outfits were initially designed for Kingsglaive rather than simply modified for use in the movie? Because I'm 99% sure that we have no information on those things either way... at least, apart from a 2010-or-earlier article that referenced medieval attire for Lucian nobility.

As for the concept art showing Ravus' sword rather than Stella's, that's visibly untrue. Alba Leonis is an officer's saber with a curved blade and a simple handguard. The sword in the concept art has a straight blade and a decorative handguard, exactly like Stella's.

Not to mention, the concept art matches the style of Roberto Ferrari, who followed Nomura off the project in 2013. Unless there's solid, positive evidence suggesting otherwise, it makes far more sense that the concept art is a repurposed Versus XIII/Nomura XV concept.

And in the vein of questions and silly answers; Which is the best playable heroine in the FFXV Universe? Must be controllable by the player...

(Edit: This is to be taken purely in jest. Sorry if it comes off/came off as acerbic.)
Amusingly enough, there's actually a correct answer to this question -- the player Glaive, obviously. ;)

The concept art pieces for the Leviathan fight are so gorgeous. =O

Square Enix President Talks Innovation And The Impact Of Final Fantasy XV

Article Text said:
Final Fantasy XV had a tall order of pleasing old fans, while also reaching a new audience. The entry was a departure from what we'd previously seen, tackling a more open world and taking combat in a more action-oriented direction. Before the game was released, director Hajime Tabata said it was "make or break for the franchise" and acknowledged it was a dying IP that lacked brand recognition in our 2016 cover story. At this past E3, Square Enix CEO and president Yosuke Matsuda was on hand for interviews and we asked him if he felt Final Fantasy XV had raised the profile of the series.

"Yes, I think it did do that because we tried lots of different things with [Final Fantasy XV]," he said. "Among the titles in that series, I think it was quite unique. And I also understand that not just the fans from back in the day, but also lots of new, young players also played it. In that sense, I think it really had a significant contribution in that context."

Matsuda also took this time to address the importance of innovation across all of Square Enix's core franchises. "Whether you're talking about Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest or Tomb Raider, these all, internally for us, are really the pillars in terms of franchises," he said. "And for that reason, we need to always innovate with those. We believe that franchises and IP are really living creatures. You have to always imbue them with whatever is the latest or the most innovative that matches that particular era, or else they're going to die. And that's something I think applies both to new pieces of IP and also to our existing franchises."

Matsuda acknowledged that individual developers all approach this differently with their own ideas, but said it's always the top goal and essential to the success and survival of both old and new franchises. "So more than what the level of recognition is, for us at the moment, it is more about providing the latest and the greatest to the customer and hoping that makes them happy. Because if we don't do that, then we'll see the popularity of these games drop off, and so we always want to take on new challenges. I believe that thinking is one that all of our developers share. So more than the concern about [Final Fantasy] having temporarily dropped off, for us, it's just always ensuring that our IP is innovative."

Matsuda was pretty candid in our interview addressing Square Enix's philosophy for remakes, the push for making its complete library digital, and even discussing Final Fantasy VII Remake potentially being released on new consoles, so be sure to check out anything you may have missed.
