I wonder if we'll ever get the book they did on the AI of FFXV or the FFXV two manga anthologies in English. This really does feel out of the blue since I didn't think they'd ever even bring over the Official Works book. There's actually quite a lot of Japanese interview stuff for FFXV that still hasn't been translated yet that most people in English speaking communities aren't even aware of too.

I'm not sure we'll ever get the AI book, unfortunately -- as far as I can tell, it's professional-level specialist non-fiction. The manga anthologies are right up Dark Horse's alley, though, and Dark Horse's choice to bring FFXV's Official Works over strongly suggests to me that they're happy with the sales they've been getting for their Ultimania Archive translations.

My copy just arrived! Most of the art in the back is the same as what we've seen already from the jp release so I won't bother taking pics of that, but there's also a collection of some of the art from the coasters and other promotional items from the Square Enix Cafe included. Can definitely share those if anyone's interested.

In case anyone was curious the start of Episode Noctis begins with what reads to be something identical to the Versus XIII 2006 trailer events where Noct fights off a bunch of Niflheim soldiers on the steps of the citadel, but with him feeling something is strange and eventually remembering details of things that had transpired, heading back into the Citadel and onto the throne, for it to then be revealed that what he's seeing is basically a "dream" of another "possibility" while he is inside of the Crystal. I don't remember any of the Ep Noct novel summaries mentioning that before.

In the JP release translation summaries I remember there was vague mentions of him fighting enemies with gold armor to get to the citadel, but this makes it more clear the imagery they were trying to reference. Almost sounded more like the king statues from the bases in Episode Ardyn or something from the summaries.

I wonder if that might be the same timeline depicted in the Omen trailer, where Noctis goes alone in his journey.

Perhaps... though the Versus imagery being so heavy, particularly in combination with the concept of the Crystal containing "all possibility [...] etched within," makes me wonder whether they might have been looking to justify a multiverse-focused sequel.

...gee, that idea seems oddly familiar...

Yes, it's been a cop-out for sequels several times in fiction. Hardly original or desirable, and I think now that it's better for them to move onto a new universe within FF, learning from the issues they encountered with XV's production and chaotic narrative structure, and let XV die with what grace it can muster.

But in no Versus trailer Noctis ever fought anything like a "Golden Armor".
There is the Glauca armour from 2013. However I doubt it's that. Yet the first instance I heard of the DOTF story leaks I immediately went to the Versus trailer and figured that they were opening Episode Noctis by letting us play the trailer that started it all. Somnus would play here as originally intended and by the end, a new theme would have came.

DotF is a mix of old concepts and scrapped story as well as new stuff, I've maintained this even since day 1. The negativity about DotF drove me from the subreddit because people were viscous about it, insisting DotF was all entirely new concepts. Heck, the original massive datamine I remember had a scene that happened in the throne room where Ardyn gave out his true name and talked about what his brother did (Episode Ardyn Prologue was likely meant to be a real cutscene before time constraints made them dial everything back).

Ambitious. I forever love XV. But we were robbed.
