Final Fantasy XV - General News Thread

I can see a July release date, but also a September (or even November...) one. I think that it'll be Summer, though (or I want to believe :p). And 4 months of full-fledged marketing is not that crazy, I would totally prefer that than dragging shit down for a year.

March can't come soon enough.

Luminous Engine of course, pre-production they probably have a work towards it, but I imagine they are also planning on using LE if not already. The Engine exists as a separate project from the game and so they can easily just work with what they have so far and pull updates whenever the XV team has done work to it. Keep in mind, XV is already completely playable which means the engine can serve a full game at this point on consoles. We probably won't see XVI until 2017 unfortunately... as much as I'd like to see it in 2016, I don't think we will.
Yeah, could totally see this. I'm very interested in seeing a LE game not as a big and open as XV: it already looks great, so imagine a more compact game (not talking about XVI here, who knows how that'll be like).

And indeed, 2017 is the earliest they would announce XVI... During that time, XV would have been done for a while, maybe KH3 too (or at least soon-ish) and I assume the first episode of VII could have a late 2017 release date. So yeah, it's not that crazy that they could talk about it in 2017.

I REALLY need a totally new mainline offline FF, we haven't had that since 2006: as much as I love XV's potential and look, we've (very roughly) known about it for almost a decade. I want to get excited wondering about a brand new world, with a totally new story and, especially, a new set of characters (and I assume it won't be Nomura's designs this time around, so all the more excitement, as I've wanted a change in that regard, at least for a while).

Looking back on previous summer releases; FF (July 12th), FFIV (July 19th), FFIX (July 7th), FFX (July 19th) - not counting MMORPG: FFXI (May 16th), FFXIV:RR (August 27th),
& just recently FFXIV:Heavensward (June 23, 2015).

I say it's time for a main/numbered Final Fantasy single-player experience game to launch worldwide on June/July!
Tabata knows it. Executives of SQ knows it. Investors knows it. Your body knows it, too!

The thing that bothers me about a July [insert date here] release is that at earliest we will have the game in less than 3 weeks after E3 2016 ends or 1 month and a half at latest.

That is true. If it comes out in the summer i think it will come out before E3. If it is anytime after E3 it will probably be during the fall.

I don't think it's that crazy: Batman AK released right after E3 if I'm not misremembering. This way, releasing after E3 you'd have a good three/four months of full marketing (since the March event) ending with a bombastic E3 show, where the hype should be highest and you don't have to wait too long.

But I guess September is also a really likely date. I just hope it doesn't go beyond that.

Batman AK indeed released after E3 (June 23rd). However, that game was announced in the previous E3.

This!

Not very likely; MGSV:pP only happened to launch Aug31st|1stSep due to 'gotta release this before Kojima's leaves us in 3 months time' reasons.
The abysmal Final Fantasy XIV was also launched at late September, so why this month? - did you lot forget Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue - a very likely Sep-Oct for JP, and Nov-Dec for NA+EU?

Sorry if my english is wack, but being dyslexic, we usually think outside the box. Viewing things as a whole rather than one detail at a time. Please understand.
Think rational about these past release dates, not your indulging wishful thinking.

'Yeah I'd second a May release date. Marketing wise it's the only time that makes sense. The game was announced 10 years ago, waiting for another E3 is kinda redundant and pointless.

The people who want this game will already intend on buying it. The people who are on the fence, will theoretically be hyped by the March event so they should release it as soon as they can from that before hype dies down.

The people who were never going to buy it are out. Which just leaves the people who haven't heard of it. And waiting for another game event isn't going to reach them, so one or twos month of advertising is enough to hype before you get campaign burnout.

May is the only one that makes sense.'

Yeah, it's not like they are still working on the game or anything. Just release it in May. /s

Not saying it won't release in May, just stupid reasoning with that guy.

I have read some old interviews about Stella and Luna. And I'm getting confused that Stella has really been removed from the game or not. They said "Stella is gone away and we picked Luna as she is fitter to the role in the story."

And why do they say like that? I mean, it would be better to say like "We changed Stella's name to Luna."

I think Stella and Luna doesn't look really different at all. They have very similiar designs.

If there are some other reasons about saying like that, I can guess that they didn't entirely removed her from the FFXV's world.

And she will really appear at the rumour CGI movie stuff.

Preaching to the choir here. With what we knew of Stella, they honestly could have kept Luna's name as Stella and saved themselves a whole lot of outrage. Luna does seem to differ in a few ways, such as the weapon she potentially wields, but she maintains a childhood relationship with Noctis and still hails from Tenebrae. I'm still baffled her name was changed.
