Hmm it looks like you may be disappointed, you know what they say, where there is smoke...

People have seen connections between VIII and XV for a while, because of the art style, and now this. Very interesting, and if we are right about our speculation, we have an idea of what he will look like right here in this painting:)
In fact, if Doomstrain is completely different than usually like Noctis_Caelum said, I will not be disappointed.
If this artwork shows really Doomstrain, it's good ! It seems organic, a real beast !

This artwork is perfect ! Like you said, it's an artwork of 2006 about Versus XIII. To show this artwork in 2016 is the proof than FFXV's eidolons and universe are still very close to Versus XIII.

Grrr, I can't believe they're already talking about DLC, or talking about announcing it soon, rather. As excited as I am about XV I really can't stand it when devs/publishers start talking about DLC before a game is even released.

...*sigh* The gaming world we live in nowadays.

was reading this old interview with Nomura, it's basically what Tabata said many times.

“I don’t like the extreme cases of tech or magic,” says Nomura. “If I choose, I choose a modern setting — but that’s not a good setting for a game. So if you look at FFXV it starts in a very modern world similar to Shinjuku (in downtown Tokyo), but when the story starts, you go to the medieval world — but the weapons they are using are high tech-weapons; that kind of combo is what I like.”

As with every Final Fantasy title, there’s really no lean toward extreme high or low fantasy – there’s always been this sort of mixture. For some titles, there’s been a lean to one side or the other – such as the sci-fi style of FFXIII or the medieval style of FFXI and XIV – but for Nomura, when he plays games he says he “can’t be emotionally involved if the game starts in an imaginary fantasy world” so he wants to start out in a modern world and then branch out to fantasy elements from there.

Exactly. It's the gaming world we live in nowadays. Not reason for this to be unexpected.

Unless you are @Wazi the pa ;)

I still don´t understand why DLC is inherently a bad thing? At least can we recognise that they´re planning DLC after they ("technically") finished the game, back in December.
It's not inherently bad, it all depends on how it's handled and the pricing, really. Although, in my honest opinion, it's usually handled very poorly and with the utmost greed. Just to be clear, though, I'm not a DLC hater. Heck, I'm guilty of buying plenty of DLC. I bought all the SFIV costumes and recently bought the SFV season pass (for the record, it's the only season pass I've ever bought, because season passes are generally an idiotic purchase). Just last night I paid TEN dollars for the Tales of Zesteria Evangelion outfits, which I feel like is a lot for a few costumes. There's just something about DLC being announced before a game's release that bugs me. It's really just DLC that is actual content, not cosmetic stuff. Call it a pet peeve, I guess. Although, I also feel like, more times than not, when DLC is announced before a game's release, it ends up coming out way too soon after the launch, which means it probably could've just been put into the full game. That I don't like. Because if it's DLC that I really want then I'll end up paying for it rather than missing out on it. That's how they get you by the balls. Sure, it's my choice, but it doesn't mean I have to accept it with a smile, either. Hopefully that isn't the case with FFXV. If the DLC doesn't come out until six months after release I'll actually praise Square for it. Still, I'd be happier not hearing about it until after release.

You misunderstood. It's not that DLC as a concept is bad for video games, it's just how most companies handle DLCs results to blatant extortion like stripping content that was originally from the main content of the game and putting an additional price tag on it.(...)
I understand that people don´t like how certain publishers have been handling DLC, but I still don´t understand how they arrived to that conclusion as if it´s the only inherent logical conclusion (Do they have inside sources?).

Well, you can pray that Tabata pulls a CDProjekt (there's at least a small chance since he loved TW3) and give away free DLC.

I'm a little worried about them considering story DLCs, not necessarily because the idea is bad (I'm not against it, I like any material that can enrich a game's world even more), but because Square Enix doesn't really have a good record with it.

I don't really care if it's populist or not, but the way CDProjekt Red handled TW3's is, imho, the best way to go: I'd love for the costumes (if the make new ones; please, do) and small stuff like that to be free, while the bigger DLCs (new missions/expansion/whatever) could be paid content with a price they consider fair.

NOW, taking a chunk of the full game and the release that as DLC is such fucking bullshit. I'm still fucking pissed about the whole Prothean DLC character in ME3, something that should have been a pretty big part of the gameplay AND the plot (a Prothean, for fuck's sake!), goes directly into something you have to pay the very first day. Fucking hell.

PS: I really, really want to see a 2006 trailer costume for Noctis' current design. Just for nostalgia's sake (still dislike how the current jacket is so long, the pants so short and the shirt under the jacket so black (I'd love if there was some more contrast like in here -I know it's because of the lighting, but yeah-).

lots of interesting stuff about the development of the game.

about the decision of removing Stella, my problem with that isn't related to her looks or personality. Luna, after all, is still blonde, have a white dress and she's a noble from Tenebrae; it's the image about her opposing Noctis, and her having the first talk with him that evoked emotions that I can't get from Luna. I'm happy with her looks and traits so far tho.

My problem is that removing her completely brought about the same reaction that Tabata claims changing her would have done, namely that fans had this idea of her and thus Luna is being unfairly judged based on that.

Does anyone know what's up with the official blog updates now that gameinformer.com is doing a month of coverge?
What do you want to know about it?. I can tell you that they have a hub on the GI site that has all current updates and also when the next update drops. http://www.gameinformer.com/p/ffxv.aspx. Here is a link to their hub. If you click the first one that says "cover reveal" it should tell you a bit about their plans for the month.

I was just thinking again about the whole Lucian culture thing and how it is really mysterious now since Tabata said the Versus stuff was gone, and with the new speculation about Insomnia's summon maybe being Doomtrain, I got to thinking we havn't seen the Lucian crest since Nomura left..Is it still a skull? and then I found this!
merch.jpg

Is that maybe the Lucian crest on the left?!?! Maybe more evidence the darkness/dark themes we have been missing from the trailers:)

Edit: Actually, I looked at it a bit more closely. That appears to be Bahamut (Nifleheim) behind so then definitely the foreground is Hades or Doomtrain or something (Lucis) in the foreground. I wonder why this image didn't get more commentary by the board when it was shown...it sort of seems to imply death (or death worship?) is still a big theme in Lucis...1 point to team #VersusLives

Edit2: Also, I just want to mention I really like the sprite representations of all the characters on the right, they look like they are Final Fantasy characters :p
