Well we know already that the yellow chocobos can 'glide' and that Tabata commented on the Black Chocobos saying "fans should be able to figure out what black chocobos can do" which is that they're able to fly in past entries.
True, I was under the impression we wouldn't get to ride those ones back then. Now, of course, we have an airship in the game, so riding a Chocobo through the skies doesn't seem like a stretch.

You mention the gliding that the yellow chocobos can do, and I think that gliding plus the drifting is going to make controlling the chocobos extremely fun. Not only that, I wonder how many secret areas can only be achieved by using a Chocobo to glide across something Noctis couldn't normally get across.

The content itself for the guides has been pretty shitty.
While my experience may be limited, I've found Prima more "shitty" than Piggyback. The Piggyback guides for Tomb Raider Legend and Underworld are wonderful, full of interesting stuff and in the case of Legend extensive behind-the-scenes section. The Prima guides I've experienced had poor prose, inaccurate and unhelpful descriptions of levels, and terrible image quality.

I pre-ordered the hardback guide quite a while ago. Although I don't ever use official guides I do use user created walkthroughs/FAQs. I only buy official Guides for the art :3

Same here. I've found that all user walkthroughs that's I've used were very clear and precise, detailing all the ins and outs of the respective games.

I remember back in high school I use to print out 200 page walkthroughs for free xD

I was watching some gameplay and observing the party skills such as Prompto's 'Kickback Blast' and Ignis' 'Mark'. Now, these skills look pretty cool but still somewhat tame for an FF game but rightfully so since they seem to be early level skills.

It just got me salivating at the mouth thinking about how flashy and epic higher level skills will look and not just single character skills but team-attack skills. Will we a see a quadruple or Omni 'X-strike' with Ignis and Noct pulversing the enemy the almost no-stop dagger slashes in blinding fast succession? Will we see Prompto air juggling an enemy with rapid fire shots while Noctis complete a flurry of airslahes?

I hope we do see cool stuff like that as we level up and gain more skills.

And we can't forget Armiger. There must be more to it than just what we had in the demo. Skills exclusive to Armiger mode!

I had the FF IX Piggyback guide (as edited here in Spain) because my neighbor gave it to me as he was moving houses and didn't use it (I didn't use it either, not in my first playthough anyways -and most "secret" things I knew were because of a friend that was quite into the game as well-).

And man, was it a shitty one. Still read it a fuckton of times because it's my favourite game ever and there were a lot of cool concept art pictures, maps and screenshots, which is something I loved even back then, when I was around 9. But the whole PlayOnline thing was an absolute disgrace, the guide was incredibly useless because of that.

I sure hope so, that would be amazing! We got a glimpse of the team attacks in Episode Duscae, so I'm pretty sure the full game will have some pretty spectacular team attacks as our party progresses throughout the story and develop their battle techniques!

A cousin of mine got a FFIX guide book free with a magazine. I can't remember which company created it but it was A5 size noncoloured booklet containing a surprisingly in-depth 100 percent complete walthrough. He kindly lent it me after I beat my first playthrough of the game.

Man, I just realised that FFXV might be that last game I play 'seriously' with a lot of dedication and time put into it.

My 'hardcore' gaming days will be over soon as I'll have other things to priorities even further. I'm not sad about this though. I will still be gaming when I can. I will still be playing Final Fantasy when I can. And if I have a kid at some point(we do plan to)I will enjoy watching him/her play games and enjoy playing games with him/her when I can.

I'm gonna go out with a bang with FFXV and savour it as much as possible :D

I love well produced guides, it's always so cool to see the images and stuff for it. My recommendation is to see some of the content inside if you can find them at a retail store in the future and buy it then.

Here's the description of the guide's contents:

The 100% complete guide to Final Fantasy XV: all missions, all side quests, all secrets, all collectibles, all Trophies and Achievements – at your fingertips!

Exclusive to the Collector’s Edition: a premium lithograph, an extra 32-page section with many additional and exclusive features, and an extra-large map poster.

The dedicated Walkthrough charts your critical path through the main narrative. It also provides regular prompts and tips directing players to side quests and other optional features within the game world of Eos, allowing for a fully streamlined experience.

All-encompassing Bestiary and Inventory chapters feature extensive lists and tables covering all enemies, all weapons, all accessories, all items and all shops.

Every secret, every unlockable, every New Game Plus bonus, every Trophy and every Achievement revealed and explained in a dedicated Extras chapter.

All game systems decoded: statistics, diagrams and analysis from our experts provide a comprehensive understanding of all game systems and features.

A handy map poster covering the entire game world.

The 10th consecutive Piggyback guide to a major Final Fantasy game. From the same team that brought you the highly acclaimed guides to Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.

Quality control: carefully designed to avoid unnecessary story spoilers.
Interesting to see they have statistics, diagrams and analysis on all the game systems. I feel like this might actually be a well produced guide, we'll have to see though. I'd love if they gave us a sneak peak at a few pages to see what to expect.

It sounds appealing, I don't deny that. But I feel like getting the guide (soft or hardcover) would be for collecting purposes more so than using it to guide the player, being me. A lot of the content listed for the guide would almost definitely be up online so it entirely depends what reason you want the product for. For me, it's a mix of both reason being I've never used a physical guide before, just bits and pieces of guides online.

I'm still keen on getting it but after hearing your thoughts, I'm gonna dig a little deeper on Piggyback, specifically with their recent work (FFXIII Trilogy).
I'm actually considering creating a sort of online database to search up things on XV while you play. For example, Magic Recipes, equipment information, ability information, etc.

The problem is, I can't make any headway with it, as I don't have a clue about any of the game's systems. If we get to learn more about them, I can begin some basic work on it.

Minus the subsets/subcategories, you could already set up the main nodes (parent node for every respective hierarchy/subtree like weapon list, item list etc.) (not talking like you're doing a binary tree but you know what I mean) from what we know. In short, the most you could now is establish a database to put stuff in.
Also, since you're planning to do something like that, it's all the more reason for you to get the guide regardless if it does/will have lackluster content.
Hahaha, yeah you're right about that one... I think I'll get it anyways, since I've never actually owned my own guide before.

So Tabata talks about how boss battles will let players tackle them in various ways but there are also parts of boss battle that are guided, helping the player along(and the choice to choose the guided hints or not) He talks specifically about the Titan demo(most of the following we already know about)and how the demo was more straight forward and guided for the sake of making it quick and easy to complete:

Personally, I think that was a bad idea. I think the demo would have been much more successful if they gave players a section of the boss to fight that displays the varied ways of tackling the boss. The aim wouldn't have been getting the players to complete the demo in a handhold-ey guided manner but for them to experiment with the boss battle.

I think people put way too much stock into an E3 presentation. I've bought, probably, 2000 games in my lifetime? Just a quick guess- that's probably way off. But I'm sure I've seen E3 footage for about 12 of them prior to buying it, and in zero cases did it make a difference in my decision to purchase. The only people who are upset about the E3 demos are people who are upset about the E3 demos, and they're upset about it because they're upset about it. It's like a self-contained cloud of emotions. That and it's easy fodder, both for haters looking to justify that hate by fixating on this one little thing, and by non-haters, to point to how almost none of the footage we've seen accurately represents the game yet.

Interesting that there will be options, though. I have to wonder if that is as simple as having these pre-built environment kills vs attacking though a meat sponge. I would hope it's a bit more than that. I was a little ore comfortable with the notion that I had in my head where the big epic fights vs. giants would be setpiece battles while the real, normal size bosses are traditional boss battles.

In the grand scheme of things no it doesn't really matter much. But they could have done a MUCH better job of presenting it.

The demo did send alarm bells wringing for me. I'm still not too fond of that section of the Titan Demo. Yet still it is a minor gripe for me now since u learnt soon after that the boss battle will be much more involved and possibly less janky/messy than shown in the demo.

They could have, but I think they are, IMO, intentionally aloof about these things. In the same way that they don't seem to be at all concerned about the demo not being very good. Like I've mentioned a few times here, it's not about WHAT you think of the game today. It's THAT you think of the game today. They've released just hundreds of little bits since the refocus. Hundreds. They can't all be huge hits. And they shouldn't be terribly concerned that a small subsect of the fanbase is clinging to this one thing. That's nothing to do with the game. That's just the internet for ya. The game could sell 14 million copies on day one and sit on a 97 metacritic rating and there will still be people on the internet complaining about this one thing. While 13,999,885 people enjoy the game blissfully ignorant of it.

Their marketing campaign is like baseball. You can't look at every strikeout in a microscope. They had one little demo that wasn't amazing. You move on to the next at-bat.
