light spoilers ahead:
  • The reason why Tabata put older Noctis in Chapter 0, was that when we worked on Crisis Core, the ending of the game was very clear. The ending already existed, but it was the story that lead to the ending that entranced the players. He wanted to try that again here by showing an older Noctis and having the players figure how everything ends up that way.
  • Tabata acknowledged that Gentiana does not age and you will find out why during the story
some bits of the Famitsu interview translated by shuya from the official forum.

Terrible decision imo its a major spoiler to show something like that from the start of the game, Id rather find out myself. Just like how in OOT when Link turned into an adult it was amazing experiencing that for the first time. The into is pretty bad too it dosent even work as a tutorial its just a few minutes that was terribly utilized. As for Gentiana Peasant made a video recently where he said the same thing about her. He said she was the one on the book of Cosmology cover in the background holding the flower (which were Gentiana)

There's a thread on /v/ where some tidbits are translated. One of them says that older Noctis should be "expected to be featured in gameplay videos from now on".

Now, it's 4chan and I don't know a lick of Japanese, so yeah. I hope it's true, though, best FF main character design by far. This would mean he's featured more than anticiparte, and I really want to see him in trailers and gameplay, especially. Don't really care that much about general spoilers (unless they're big).

Also, potential party member spoilers (again, if the translation is true):
Luna seems to actually join the party, temporary, at some point.

Provided this is legit, it's kinda weird, but not because it might be surprising, but because, iirc, Tabata confirmed this at first just to, later on (around a year or so), deny that she'd be one.

It's been a good while, so I might be wrong.

Huh? Always remember that he said its you and your party joins her, not other way around. Doesn't really matter i guess, im just happy to see Luna in action!
Yeah, he said that, but I swear, either my mind is pulling tricks on me or he actually said, later on, that she wouldn't actually join.

Anyways, if this is true I'm happy. I really want see her fighting alongside us. I wonder what kind of clothes she's using in fights. Maybe the ones with the shoulder thing?

Also, seeing old Noctis again has sparked my interest in seeing other characters' older versions. Particularly Luna and Ravus. This is tricky though: I expect the timejump to happen in an enclosed scenario, designing older versions of already known characters (like Cidney or even a vendor) is not something I see them doing for obvious reason.

Some interesting details from the Famitsu scans. I'm not 100% sure on the accuracy of the translations though as I got them from a thread on 4chan, these aren't my translations but anyone who knows Japanese can double check.

Older Noctis' profile:
The protagonist Noctis himself, with the years weighing heavily on him. His features are severe and grim and his eyes glitter with red light. Expect him to appear in gameplay videos from now on.

.

About Noctis:
It seems like he likes doing things his way, but he is actually watching and reading the world and other people more closely than anybody.

About guest Party members:
During the story, the party sometimes grows to five people. For now, we know that Cor and Luna are among the people who will lend the party a helping hand. Being a Lucian marshall, Cor's sword skills are beyond formidable. The details about Luna's participation are unknown for now, but considering her proactive personality, she can probably take care of herself.

About Noctis' group:
Ignis, Prompto, and Gladiolus are Noctis' irreplaceable allies, but the journey of these four will be neither easy nor joyful. As their situation grows increasingly more grave, interpersonal conflicts become inevitable.

About Fishing, Photography and Ring Magic.
Q: What does levelling up Noctis’ fishing skill get you?
Tabata: You will be able to discover new kinds of fish you couldn’t before, use more equipment etc. It gets more fun. There are quests where you can get new fishing equipment, by the way. The fish you can catch also depends on the current time of the day and weather.
Q: And what about the photography?
Tabata: At the beginning, Prompto’s photo skills are just awful. His shots are out of focus, too (laugh). But it gets better as he levels up and you can pick and save the best photos during your inn stay or camping.
Q: Are there any classic spells we know from the FF series?
Tabata: The magic that utilises the Lucis royal family ring is different from the common elemental spells. To be more precise, it features such spells as Death. There is also magic intrinsically tied to the story of the game.

About weaponry:
Q: What makes guns special?
Tabata: You can attack from afar, but on the flip side you cannot use link attacks with them. They come in handy in infiltrations and such, since you can snipe enemies from a distance. Scenario-wise, they showcase the Niflheim engineering skills. Since we are talking about machinery here, they can be customized and upgraded. You can't warp with them, though.
Q: And what about the Phantom Swords? What happens if you use them in normal combat?
Tabata: You gain very powerful Warping and other abilities that differ depending on the weapon. Their stats are also very high, but attacking with them eats away large chunks of your HP.

About the world:
The conflict between the Empire of Niflheim, a great military power, and the Kingdom of Lucis, a land of magic and the keepers of the holy Crystal, has been going on for a long time. But the animosity between these two countries is hardly the only serious problem their world has. Their planet itself is wasting away, stricken by a phenomenon called "the plague". Watch very carefully how this reality will affect the journey of the main quartet.

In the FFXV world, the nights start gradually growing longer at a certain turning point of history. Darkness is the time of exceedingly dangerous monsters called daemons. The zones where people can actually live shrink and venturing outside gets fraught with danger. Noctis and his group encounter daemons as well and they are a formidable obstacle in their journey. As the night grows longer, their journey gets ever so much harder

About the scene with Luna's speech:
Noctis keeps an eye on Luna as she is making her speech. Since she can speak to gods, what is it that she wants people to hear?
Tagline: We are losing the world...

Question to Tabata:
Q: What is the plague, exactly?
Tabata: We call it a plague, but you will see it for yourselves as you progress through the game. I don't want to spoil the details, but it is a calamity of sorts.
Q: What is the relationship between the summons, Luna, and Noctis?
Tabata: Astrals are divine beings in their world. Luna, being an Oracle, can converse with gods as the speaker for their planet. She can also awaken them if needed. Noctis' relationship with summons is different; they approach him to lend him their power.

Gentiana's profile:
Luna's attendant and a woman of many mysteries. Seems to know a lot about how their world works. Recently featured in a scene where she tells young Noctis about the nature of the relationship between the King and the Oracle.
"The info about Ardyn and Luna is the same old (she is an Oracle, he does magitek stuff etc.)"

About Shiva:
Tabata: Among the summons, she is particularly willful. She helps you when she thinks you need it, so yes, she is a difficult one (laugh). You can't call her at will, but her Diamond Dust attack is really powerful.

Nice to see Ring Magic. Death! I'm loving it: it's a classic FF spell that I always liked using and it actually fits the whole Lucis culture.

We've already seen (in KG) instances of other spells that could be done with the ring (Protect, maybe? I'm guessing Cure could work, too?). I wonder what else is there. Unless is a contextual thing (like Summons), I guess we should have, at the very least, around three different kinds of spells, as they have their own slot in the menu and it'd be weird if we only had one or so. Maybe it's a random thing. Or maybe it can only be used during XV's version of Limit Break (the Armiger).

Oh, and what about Regis and Nyx' abilities to use fire just like that, without using the pokeball? I don't know if that might be Ring Magic, something else, the representation of Elemental Magic in the film or just nothing.

God DAMN I want to play this game so bad right now I can taste it.

spoiler/speculation:
With Gentiana confirmed not to age, I'm going to take that as confirmation that Cor the Immortal isn't just a name, either. I know there are already theories on that. And I hate to say it, it's FFPeasant that put the idea in my head, but I think that broken clock got this one at least partially right, too.

Specifically, my wild speculation here is that he will be presented as perfecftly human, "die" and come back later, when the game needs more exposition only Cor can deliver.

I'm not convinced about Cor, but I've long suspected Gentiana of being something more than human. The other I think must be Ardyn.

Something else that peaked my interest was the reference to Astrals/Archeans as "gods". So they're the gods which gave mankind crystals? Then what are the giant glowing pseudo-mechanical things on the game's international cover? A rival race of Gods? I don't think they can be man-made creations.

Just a wild thought, but maybe those mechanical things are the secret drive behind Niflheim's focus on technology over the crystals - that might make Ardyn their servant/agent, with Gentiana possibly being an agent for the "gods" linked to the natural world. So we've got those on one side, and the Astrals/Archeans on the other representing the natural world. And above all that a mysterious Goddess in another realm, and a "plague" that has been lengthening the nights and endangering mankind. Speculation kicking into overdrive!

Kingsglaive spoiler
Those big armored things on the cover of the game are the kings of Lucis. Also in the movie Luna is seen praying to a goddess while looking at the moon so I think there are actual gods and goddesses in the game world. I bet the Archaeons are somehow divine but not quite like Etro was in the XIII series

Either that's a mistranslation (or a mistake by Famitsu) or they've changed it, yeah. Or maybe the way Phantom Weapons function differ from one to another.

I think it's a mistake, if I had to bet.
Shuya from the official FFXV forum got HP, but you may be right.
