Hey, can anyone help translate this video interview from when Tabata was at Barcelona World Games? It's got some titbits in it about aspects of the game Western journalists haven't been touching upon. It's even got Tabata directly answering a question about its connection to FNC at around the eight-minute mark. I don't understand Spanish, so can someone please help with this?
I asked on GAF and @gamingPotato7 posted this, but I just saw that @Lulost here already translated it (thank you very much!).

And this from a coop interview (basically the same as the interview quoted earlier by @Storm) from the same event says that they removed the FNC branding for marketing reasons, as they wanted as many people as possible to understand the title without needing to refer back to something. Taken in conjuction with other stuff, it's safe to say that the design and lore is intact, but the branding and terminology was removed.

Edit: If I sound like I know a lot, I do. I'm a bit of an FNC scholar. Well, some people are a mine of information about VII and the Compilation or Ivalice, I'm like that about FNC.

A question i'd like to ask you guys.

Do you think FFXV's plot could potentially stand on its own idependantly, or do you think Kingsglaive and Brotherhood are required for it?

It could stand on it's own if they present the key factors of Kingsglaive in a meaningful way into the game. Heck, it could stand on it's own even without that actually.

BUT I think people would be more invested into the characters and world after being exposed to both Kingsglaive and Brotherhood.
People will have a more enjoyable experience overall and be a bit more emotionally invested.

What would be cool, concerning integrating Kingsglaive key points into FFXV, would be if you have certain scripted 'flashback' events completely in-game visuals of, for example a concentrated and quite scripted gameplay segment of Regis fighting Glauca where you take control of the king and inevitably lose to Glauca.

It could stand up independently. Currently the characters have only been told of the invasion, and they see the ships entering Insomnia, if/when they go back to Insomnia everything will become contextualized (in terms of it will no longer be second hand information). Other than that, Kingsglaive provides no real insight into much else, which leaves the game to develop the plot and characters itself. Other than that, I think Brotherhood provided some great insight into the characters, but It seems like the character interactions are making up for it in game, so even without Brotherhood its all being conveyed in game correctly.

On another note, 5500 Followers needed for the Moogle Movie. Do you guys think that they recently reordered the whole thing so that they would be able to get the movie out in time for Paris Games Week?

Wow, holy shit I am slow. I just found out that Gladiolus is the name of a flower, which is also called a Sword Lily. I should've guessed that it was something like that considering Iris' name. All the other names are so obvious though.

I would argue that it does gives (albeit little) some insight. The nations' crystalls and Lucis being the last holder of one + Reasoning behind Niflheim and Lucis peace treaty, which going by the previews and videos available the first chapters of the game don't provide said context to the player, that said as you pointed out it could be clarified later when they return to insomnia but it would be a bit late at that point.
An ideal scenario would be the party/player learning this key in-universe details along the way by other sources, like NPCs/Characters (maybe Ignis?)/Radio Broadcast/Books(?) mentioning stuff about the peace treaty and the Crystall(s).

Edit: They need to avoid a data log (XIII)/Library (Type-0) situation.

Ahh yeah, I get what you mean. Yeah it would be much better if all this information was available to us throughout the journey as unmissable elements. I would rather not have data logs on these elements. I wouldn't mind data logs that go into more depth however, but that's another thing altogether. I simply said that they'd learn it all if/when they get to Insomnia cause we know that event is going to happen, but in a perfect world they learn about it throughout the journey.

If or when you encounter Iedolas in-game/when you reach Nifilheim, i'd think that would be the best point to spill the beans regarding the treaty plotline and whatnot for the players, personally speaking.

It entirely depends how they reference the events of Kingsglaive and Brotherhood. Personally, I feel you need the context of Brotherhood to understand the dynamics between the main characters, and you need Kingsglaive (however much it's not that great a film in its own right) to see how far Regis and Luna are prepared to go for Noctis' sake, and how much is ultimately at stake on Noctis' side.

From what I've heard about the plot, the whole reason they made Kingsglaive and Brotherhood was because those elements weren't in the game, and although they said we don't need to watch anything else to understand XV, I have my doubts. And so do some journalists' previews.
