It would be an extremely odd design choice to carry levels over to NG+.

Being level 99 when you're repairing the car would be very absurd and would take the fun out of the game.

was planning to do a low-level run but levels carry on...

disappointed.
Me too. Level 1 playthrough was what I wanted to do. Already acquired the high level ascension abilities and plan on maxing it out completely.

Btw so is it actually the case? Level carry over I mean. I thought the NG+ update was gonna be released alongside the Holiday pack, but as a separate update of course not a part of the season pass.

They.. they made the levels carry over with NG+? Holy shit what a dumb move. At least give us the option to choose which things we want to carry over.
Why is everything they do so half-arsed?

I checked on YouTube. The levels carry over. Very strange move.

However given the number of complaints about the level carry over (rightly so since they should've given us options), I think they'll modify that in the future to appease the rage.

Equipment and abilities yes but the levels itself usually reset back to 1 I think.

For example FFX-2. You were able to keep everything but the levels itself actually resets.

Crisis Core, Type-0, and I think Lightning Returns (if I'm understanding the Wiki right) had you keep your levels/stat increases when you started a NG+. The Crystal Chronicles games, Bravely Default, and Dissidia 012 allowed you to either keep levels/stat increases or reset them in NG+.

Personally, I think XV should just implement a new item -- maybe give it a name referencing The World Ends With You -- that allows you to choose your level and gives you AP bonuses based on the amount of levels under your max you are.

not for Dragon Quest Heroes : the World Tree's Woe and the blight below it isn't . in that game ( which I own by the way.) the levels do carried over in new game plus. as well as skill points, equipment ( except those bought with medals) , abilities, Ingredients , Recipes , medals, heal stones and costumes. what didn't carried of in the new game plus of Dragon Quest heroes was Letters , treasure maps, Accolades and Monster Suppression count, quests, and party members.

It seems there is a case for both keeping levels and not keeping levels. Quite interesting. Haven't played Crisis Core or Type 0 so didn't know those carried over levels too.

I think for this game, it's more a matter of demand creates availability since the development and maintenance for this title has been more reactionary rather than proactive.

If they catch wind of people wanting no level carry over, they may listen and create an option so people can either choose to keep or reset levels.

oh and Dragon Quest heroes you can pretty much do everything in that game in one play through. of course in that game you only get to keep mundane equipment/accessories so no uber powerful weapons. there pretty much wasn't a point of playing new game plus in Dragon Quest Heroes. I did find Dragon Quest Heroes to be fun however I do not classify it as RPG. it's a Musou game with Rpg elements.

Did they at least take the Witcher 3 approach and make the enemies harder? I'm used to games I play on a NG+ carrying over levels, I don't know what the big deal is about that. However, if they didn't up the enemy levels as well then it's pointless, or raise the level cap.

The big deal is because we know that FF doesn't employ the Soulsbourne series type of NG+ in which variables for the enemies change. I don't think anyone was really expecting that, which is why I personally wasn't expecting NG+ to carry over the levels either.

It should either make the enemies and challenges more difficult while also keeping your level, or it should reset your level if all encounters start all over again. The XV approach makes no sense. Especially since being overleveled is already incredibly easy. You can be in the high 40 or 50s while only in chapter 2 or 3. The difficult part is obtaining all the gear and unlocking AP stuff, which is why it's good to have those carry over.

Prompto gets a GDC panel for his camera.
Photos are what make a trip. In 'Final Fantasy XV', one of your camera-maniac best buddies, Prompto, will automatically take a picture of your adventure in the game for you. The snapshot he takes is not the classic screenshot that most users are familiar with. Instead it is a picture what Prompto actually sees in the game, enhanced with some fun features. Since no one does the same play, no one will have the same picture as you; the image represents your unique adventure. So, just as you do after a trip with your friends, you can share these photos on social media such as Facebook. This new feature changes the whole user experience of 'Final Fantasy XV' and is introducing the world to a new concept of gameplay sharing. This session will describe the design behind the system, through both UX and technical perspectives.

Takeaway
Attendees will walk away with a knowledge of how an auto-snapshot feature changes game experiences, how to use photos to characterize a game character, and technical knowledge for the design of automatic snapshot. Attendees will also gain inspiration for and knowledge of new generation game auto-recording features, and the creation of "emotional AI".

Intended Audience
Designers, artists, programmers, and anyone who is interested in user experience designing and emotional AI.

Literally just started up a NG+ to see what's what. Warp strike killed the first enemies I saw. No sense at all, this feels rushed again... Or they got some miscommunication going on... Who wants to play through the game again being OP? That's what Easy Mode is for. This is like Easy Mode +

Edit: Is this the update that has the level limiting item and Extra AP gain items in it? I'd like to do a Level 1 run now that I don't got harder stuff to do.

I like having the option to trivialize everything to make a bum rush through the story on a second playthrough. I loved being able to take half of the bosses in Crisis Core down with a punch or two after beating the super boss. xD
