GR: THE HOT NEW PHRASE BEING KICKED AROUND THE INDUSTRY, INCLUDING AT TGS, IS "GAMES AS A SERVICE." FFXV IS GETTING A STEAM OF UPDATES NOT SEEN BEFORE IN THE SERIES, SO IS THAT THE FUTURE OF FINAL FANTASY, DO YOU THINK?

TABATA: But if you mean, do I think Final Fantasy is always going to carry on with the games as a service model? I don't think it always will. It doesn't have to be, no. We thought it would be good for Final Fantasy XV, so we used it for XV, but it doesn't follow, otherwise.

Interesting to hear about this bussiness model (sans MMOs) possibly not carrying over to nex installments.

After seeing the Ep Ignis trailer, it would be a tragedy if FFXV's next-gen "UHD Remake" didn't take the opportunity to integrate the DLC into the main game.

  • The campfire scene at the beginning of Ep Gladio triggers the first time you camp with Gladio in the party after he returns in Chapter 8. You have an option to play Ep Gladio immediately; either way, Ep Gladio is unlocked on the title screen.
  • Altissia exploration, negotiations, Leviathan setpiece
  • A cutscene is added to the end of Chapter 9 in which Noct and Ignis talk in the boat as they travel to the Niflheim continent. You have an option to play Ep Ignis immediately; either way, Ep Ignis is unlocked on the title screen
  • Malboro dungeon, train setpiece, Tenebrae
  • The new Chapter 12 material remains where it is
  • The implementation of Chapter 13:2 is changed -- while you can still choose to play as Gladio right off the bad, if you play as Noct, Episode Gladio is inserted right when Noct falls off the bridge and Noct's gameplay resumes from there after Verse 2 is complete. If you played as Gladio, Gladio asks Noct what happened to him the first time you rest, offering you an option to play Noct's side if you skipped it.
  • Also at the first rest point after rejoining the party, Prompto talks to Noct and offers to tell his story. You have an option to play Ep Prompto immediately; either way, Ep Prompto is unlocked on the title screen.
  • Chapter 13 finishes, and you play Chapter 14 up to Hammerhead
  • At Hammerhead, a Glaive (if possible, your Glaive) offers to tell Noct his/her story. You have an option to play Ep Comrades immediately; either way, Ep Comrades is unlocked on the title screen.

The overall effect would be a bit FFVII-ish, I think, which seems like a definite plus. It'd be great to experience the game this way for the first time. XD;

Adam also talks a bit about Episode Ignis as well.

I’m a day late but good interview.

Very interesting concerning the demographics.

It certainly explains why they were so heavy hitting with ads for the mobile game since 70% of teen newcomers for the franchise come from there.

It also explains why they’re releasing the Pocket Edition of the game as well.

FFX HD got an even-more-HD version when the PS4 came out and XV will already have ultimate quality assets from the PC release. There's no real reason for Squenix not to make a UHD remake once next-gen gets here. XD;

Stumbled across this thread on Gfaqs.

It's about someone claiming to have played Comrades already and this is what they have to say:

"As far as story is concerned its just as hard to say as well without us going into spoiler territory. What I can tell you is, any gaps that are missing are filled and any left will be. Presentation wise if you are a fan of the original Final Fantasy it is almost an interpretation of that entry's story within FFXV. Also, you definitely interact more with characters that should have been more at the forefront in the main game, i.e. Cor.

As far as whether or not it is worth it.. I see Comrades potentially being better than the main game itself.

One thing you all have to keep in mind as well is that Comrades will update alongside the core game itself. From my experience I can definitely tell you it will make up for those that were disappointed by FFXV itself. Maybe not completely, but it can definitely potentially feel more satisfying to some. Any fans of FF1 will really enjoy how the game is set to unfold."

Might not be reliable but have a read through it since it's interesting. Some posters are saying that this guy is well known and that he doesn't post shady stuff but I don't know.

Glad I wasn’t the only one who caught onto the PS VR thing.

If you watch the trailer for Ep Ignis again, they have the VR logo in it at some parts, notably the beginning.

We may have some parts of Ep Ignis as a VR experience if the intro for the trailer is any indication.

Perhaps the VR system is an option if you want to use it, seeing the game-play in action in that trailer.

I’m getting mixed messages here so if anyone can clarify, that’d be great.

Do we need PS+ to play Comrades?

Before I thought we didn’t need it, but apparently they changed the info on their website and now we do?

So much back and forth on this. I really wish they’d just announce it properly and stop this confusion.

I'm pretty sure it was confirmed on that stream that Comrades can be played on Single Player without PS+, I think he got the date wrong.
