Sylva shared some tidbits about cut or altered content in the dlcs
- EP Ignis had a different gameplay with levels, element storage to use elemental attacks, no cooking skill, seems like you would have to grind a bit to unlock all the abilities

in other words, skill progression, something they are interested to implement in the next dlcs.

Ravus and Ardyn were also not as involved (according to this interview, it was the localization team that gave the idea to make Ravus a companion member, he was only planned to appear in a few scenes).

Prompto and Gladio appeared a bit more.

in his opinion, the EP Ignis was shaping to be worse to what we got in the end.

- Ep Gladio, with the exception of some cut dialogue, didnt seem to lost much. Sylva mentioned a deleted enemy and a bit about Gladio being able to use Cor's sword (as a reward if I understood it right).

- but the most interesting bit is definitely from Ep Prompto, it had a freaking cut snowmobile that could turn into a mecha! (it could shoot with a rocket launcher even lol); he says its still working or it can work with some fixing.

he also reminded the Paid Mod menu is still set up, so it seems it'll still be happening sooner or later.

Bless the localization team for being responsible in getting us more Ravus development and a dope boss fight with him. Seems like they really didn't have a solid or at least satisfying direction for Ignis' Episode before then and the ring sacrifice seems to be something fans thought of before the devs as well so I'm curious if they took notice of that fan theory somehow before deciding to make it canon too. Overall seems like Episode Ignis' final direction was largely shaped by taking in (good) feedback from fans and the western team and we could've ended up with something pretty bad if they hadn't listened. Hopefully they'll take worthwhile feedback on the next batch of episodes too.

I guess we can thank that 'fake leak' from a year ago or so for the ring's role in Episode: Ignis if that was the case, but then again, who knows for sure.

The Genji Blade Gilgamesh gives to Gladio as a reward for beating him was Cor's sword that Gilgamesh took from him. That's probably what he means about Gladio getting Cor's sword?
I sent him a message with pictures earlier. He said no to the Genji Blade and yes to Kotetsu. I'm not sure about one thing he said, if I understood him properly it was that Gladio was able to use Kotetsu, and got a version of that as well as the Genji Blade as rewards instead of the one weapon.

He also said it's not just one enemy cut, but at least two which should also be functional.

Not sure what he means about the areas, may have had more enemies set up in them or that there was more to Gladio's one. He did outright say that there were more areas for Prompto's that were cut, so it could be either one.

Personally for Ignis's one, I don't really like it. I thought it was kind of cool, but seeing a few people over on discord talk about reasons why they dislike it has made it impossible to not see those flaws with it and it seems like it's just bad writing revolving around Ignis.

So what you're saying is I should make my ideas as to how to keep an ultimate happy ending go viral in hopes that one of them will be used? ;)

On a less flippant note, after playing Episode Ignis in chronological context, the value-add to Ravus' story is so high that I think chronologically is the best way to play even for those who don't know the ending (though they still shouldn't watch the credits). It slots in so perfectly that it's almost shocking to think it almost didn't happen:

1) The radio and NPCs of Lestallum are still talking about Jared's death and Calligo's recovery in Chapter 8. Killing him off as part of an extended Altissia setpiece is timed perfectly.

2) Likewise, there's a ton of radio and Cape Caem NPC chatter about what Ravus' deal is. Revealing his changing allegiance by having him save Ignis takes a background curiosity and makes it as important as it deserves to be.

3) The same radio and NPC chatter makes a big deal out of Ravus' arm, which Episode Ignis explains. In doing so, it also helps explain the daemon boss fight in Chapter 13.

4) By making Ravus' change of allegiance front and center, it makes the radio and NPC chatter about his pending execution both hit harder and make more sense. He wasn't executed for failing, but for intentional sabotage.

5) When Episode Gladio is added chronologically and Chapter 13:2 is played before Noct's path, it results in Ravus being consistently relevant from his first appearance in Chapter 5 to his daemon boss fight.

The sheer weight of the things explained in Episode Ignis makes it feel far more like cut-and-restored content then new additions. I suppose it's a good thing that it wasn't, but it's hard to imagine there wasn't some plan to address those things in Altissia.

Question, does chapter 13:2 still trigger if you choose to play as Noctis first?

You can switch to Gladio at any save point.

However, the dialogue box made it look like reaching that point causes 13:2 to appear in the main menu, which would prevent it from skipping Noct's path (the consequence of switching to Gladio in-game). If so, that's clearly the ideal path even on one's first time through.

Isn't it amazing that, after three years and over 44,500 posts, we're still talking about Final Fantasy XV. I don't think there's ever been such consistent attention around one Final Fantasy game before.
Given the fact of how a lot of people play a game and move on to the next so fast these days FFXV acting as a service probably did it more good than bad in the long haul imo. From a business aspect it makes sense. Why spend another 4+ years on a title that may or may not succeed when you can continue to make content faster for a product that's already out that for sure has an established fanbase? Some people will hate that and say "oh it isn't complete day 1 REEEEEEEE", which sometimes this is the case. At least I can tell some of the DLC content had fan feedback take an actual influence with how it turned out. For example, many were vocal about the lacking story in Ep. Gladio (I personally disagree cause Gladio is the most straight forward of the bunch but that's another topic), while Episode Prompto did the opposite. Ep. Ignis finally brought both of those strong points together on top of changing how I viewed some aspects of the game. Sorry for the long post.

This is a silly request, but: can anyone with Ansel get a good shot of the piece of paper on the right hand side of the front seat of Ardyn's car? It looks like a notarized affidavit, and I'm curious as to what it says. XD

so two FFXV songs from the dlcs were performed in Distant Worlds

the best version of Choosing Hope, it's divine and tear-inducing.

I remember someone on reddit or discord pointing out Ardyn signed his real name (spoilers ahead) Ardyn Lucis Caelum there, but since the pic of the paper was blurry im still not sure.

this is the best that I could do, sorry it's not much help
EDIT: open it on Imgur to see it better
Actually, that is really helpful!

I can't read everything, but I can read enough to know exactly what it is: it's the affidavit of some guy called "David P. Clark," and it's not signed by Ardyn at all.

First thing to note is that it's mirrored horizontally, probably because the text is irrelevant. Here's a cropped version without the mirroring:

Here's what I can make out of the first few lines:

Affidavit of David P. Clark

State of [???] |
|
County of [???] |

I, David P. Clark, being of sound mind and lawful age to [testify?], and duly sworn [???] as follows:

1) My name is David P. Clark and I [???] City, Vermont.
The signature reads "David P. Clark," but it's not hard to see how someone could mistake it for "Ardyn L. Caelum."

Anyway, my guess is that they pulled it from some legal template site and didn't expect anyone to actually attempt to read it. XD

older Noctis expressions are really edgy like in Versus (models swapped)

I love how this game looks, definitely will end up as one of the most visually unique titles this generation.

so he stole the car, or at least would have been a viable headcanon if Vermont wasnt listed.

ugh just for how long they are going to ignore next dlcs' promotions? T _T i was hoping for newest episode in january but i doubt it...wonder what price it will be for season pass. previous ones were pretty obvious in terms of story, and reaaaally short...hmm i surely do hope that these will be more than 2 hours long T _ T
