So we won't play on the whole map a-la classic Final Fantasies? It looks more like FFXII's Ivalice where you played only on a 'small' portion of the whole map.
That's not that bad either. We may have some sequels.
I don't think it's like XII in that sense. They said if you see something on the horizon, you can go to it. XII, despite how big the areas were, didn't let you do that.

I really, really, prefer having a big continent/archipelago fully-fleshed out (and with a reasonably realistic scale, like this one) rather than having an entire planet for you to explore.

The latter makes the universe the game takes place in very small, and even goofy and lazy (only five towns per planet or so is rather ridiculous). It was alright in previous FFs (VIII and IX's worlds are some of my favourite fictional universes), but they should stick to this method for now on.

XII had something similar and even though the game was heavily divided into sections, the world felt alive and huge, unlike the previous ones. And if this one is as seamless as it looks... well, you know what.

I'm loving the look of the world, and if we take Accordo into account, we can see how big the scale is. Now show me dem cities and towns, pls. Really excited too about how diverse the game will be. I hope we get our (well justified within the world location) doses of snowy, desert, beach, etc areas.

Just take a look at Accordo and the size of the water bridge, imagine how big a human would be sailing on a boat across that bridge and picture how many people could fit across the bridge standing shoulder to shoulder... Now think about how wide that would be in whatever metric, and figure how how wide the depression in the water is, and translate that onto the map image, and imagine just how BIG this map truly is...

It doesn't seem like you'll be loading into these towns, it looks like everything will stream in allowing you to never load into an area like you did in past games. This is a huge leap forward for the series if this is true. I can only imagine that whenever you get control of an airship, it's going to make quick work of traversing the world map. Despite that Tabata may have said about the car being like the airships of previous Final Fantasy games, that doesn't rule out the possibility of having one near the end of the game much like the Final Fantasy games before it. Imagine how long it would take to travel from area to area by car, an airship makes sense for end game travel.

Really excited about the possibilities.

FF 15's overworld has yet to be confirmed, but there are several nations and regions on it, Lucis for example. So will we explore the entire input planet via going from country to country and content to content. or just one side. a story about war should effect almost all populations. how long would it take to travel the entire overworld

Based on the speculation, I bet at points on the map where player leaves a region, there will be loading processes taken place. Without a doubt, countless of things will take place within a region or area but of course the recent footage of FFXV gives us an overview of the scale of the area/region so in due time, we will see more things than ever before.

Loading screens help me realize that I'm playing a game but too much of it ruins the experience. In terms of the size and amount of events and such taken place within the areas, it would make sense for loading processes to take place.
I don't see why you'd need loading screens, even some PS2 games didn't have loading screens, they take away from the immersion. If you can cross an area that would take an entire hour just to get across, what would loading even do for the game? Also, what would be the point of having the terrain like this if you need to load areas?

Now the big question is where are the other regions ?
Speaking of the locations i wonder what their artistic design would look like? So far we have:
Lucis : highly advance metropolis nation, isolated(?) from the other nations.
Accordo : venecian like nation
Niflheim : military advance house power (not shown but suggested by the game's plot).
Duscae : natural wild (mostly) field, populated by monsters and few resting points.

Altissia, Tenebrae, Solheim :
according to the FFXVwiki this nations are in a similar situation like Niflheim but weaker military force.

Nomura once said that the game won't have classical loading screens but instead there'll be CGI cutscenes between huge areas.

But who knows if this info's still up to date.

Tenebrae houses the rich fleuret family, so it may have more wealth than a few other nations around it. then Vallis Acerba and Nihilsomno are outside Lucis because they are labeled on the street signs with their miles. i guess Altissia is neutral grounds because it sounds like this Luna character is taking refuge there.

Tabata mentioned there would still be loading screens. But only when traversing to a densely populated city. A cutscene would start while it's loading.

I believe this is just Accordo region. The map only show Accordo city which takes up 3/100 of the whole map. Lucis must be as huge as the city of Accordo and it is nowhere to be seen here.

It was speculated that Lucis is the grey square in top right corner of the map (labeled "huge structure").

We shouldn't be concerned with loading screens, to be honest. They've co-existed with video game for a long time now so seeing some loading screens or a sign of the game loading in FFXV whilst the game is running is perfectly normal.
Sure, I just don't see it being like loading into a city, seems seamless like most WRPGs with open maps like this.

Sorry for the wrong info. It isn't Tabata that mentioned the loading screen thing. Actually, I just read it the Final Fantasy Wiki site. I was so giddy for info that I misinterpreted it.
I believe Nomura said something like this back in the Versus XIII days, but it's likely changed now with the move to next generation consoles, there's no reason to load into towns and stuff.
