Honestly I had never, ever heard of developers adding in cutscenes and story bits to improve a game after release. Was shocked I read that so just wanted to ask to make sure.
Never heard of Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix+? ;) Sure, it was made pre-DLC and therefore existed as a separate disc release, but it came with close to a half-hour of new scenes and made so much more sense out of KHII's story that it's kind of ridiculous. (It also added in a new story boss where originally there was only an anti-climactic cutscene-only showdown... and frustrated the heck out of everyone in the process. *shakes fist at Roxas*)

...actually, Kingdom Hearts Final Mix also added scenes, even if they weren't anywhere near as impressive or necessary for understanding what was going on.

Likewise, Advent Children Complete was a movie rather than a game, but it also added a bunch of scenes that added context missing from the original.

In light of that, I could totally imagine Squenix adding scenes post-release. *shrugs*

What he meant by this? I think reviewers have their copies for atleast a week now.
Squenix gave big sites review copies about a week ago, but other reviewers just received them. There was some speculation that the ones who had early review copies were outlets with dev consoles.

I played the original KH2 so haven't played the final mix version.

I stand corrected then that this is an occurrence that has happened before.

Do hope they would find the time to do something similar for this game. Wouldn't mind having to do another playthrough to see new stuff.

If the game is all the more better for it by giving the story that extra oomph, then it should tick more boxes on people's top gaming lists (hopefully).

So guys. Do you think it's worth spending another £70 on this to get the digital edition so I can play it from midnight tomorrow? Keeping in mind I've already spent just under £100 on it (Deluxe and Hardcover CE guide). I can afford it. I wont be eating much, but I'll be able to play for an extra day with how it looks like Game is shipping the disk version. I'll also then have 3 extra peices of DLC, an extra Masamune code I could give to one of you and the season pass. As well as my XB1 not dying from having to spin the disk so much! (seems maybe a tad exsessive I know, but 7 years... If I'd saved up an extra tenner over the waiting time each year, it's kind of justifiable)

Side note, anyone know when the preload for XB1 goes live, or if it is already?

Well, think of it like this. If you get a digital copy as well, you would have blown £70, for maybe 9 hours of play time. You would have also screwed up your sleeping pattern.

I was contemplating this too - But, for the sake of 9 hours, it really isn't worth it. I'm going to be nice and alert and fresh Tuesday morning at 9am when I collect my copy from Game.

That's what I did. I purchased the Ultimate Collector's Edition, but I want to keep everything in pristine condition (I'm a collector, duh.). So I got the Digital edition as well. It's the first time I've ever spent this kind of money on a single game. The Ultimate Collectior's Edition, the digital edition, the Piggyback Collector's Edition guide, and the Limited Edition OST. That's not counting the 4K HDR TV I purchased last month, as well as the PS4 Pro.

My wallet is currently filing the papers to sue me.

That's what I did.

TBH, it's more like I'm paying an extra 50 because I was going to be getting the season pass separately anyway. Then we can take off maybe 5-8 quid for the Angler set, Camera Kit, and 16-bit buddies. so it's like 45 quid I'm paying. Plus being able to give someone that code for the Masamune will make me happy.

I get what you're saying about my sleeping pattern, but atm I'm in a crunch time to get work done for deadlines so I'm going to sleep at 3-4 and waking up at 10-11 anyway so my sleep pattern is already messed up. If I get 9 hours more, I'm paying 5 quid an hour to play.

Edit: Doing it anyway. Rang my Mum to ask her what she thought, her initial reaction was that I'm an idiot (granted), but then she said do what I want if I can afford it. It'll basically be a christmas present for myself. An early one. Good advice Mother.

Thanks for your opinions guys. I've now spent £170 quid on this FFXV universe. Worth.

Knowing it's inside my PS4 and not being able to play it is too painful(first game I've ever preloaded) :(

Need to sleep through whole day on Monday to make go faster!

No chance of my other copies coming early I think....

Which, to be fair, is a little silly. :D

If blowing an extra £70 really doesn't mean much to you, why don't you donate that £70 to a charity of your choice, and pick up the game Tuesday morning as originally planned.

Then, not only will get to play FFXV but you'll also feel and overwhelming sense of joy from the sacrifice you have made for both your time and your money.

It's an extra 50, as I'm getting the season pass either way, on a game I've been waiting for for almost 8 years of my life. Unfortunately I'm not just picking my game up on Tuesday, I have to wait for it to be delivered. I'm also at the end of the delivery route, which means I'll get it around 3-4 in the afternoon. I know it's silly but this is really kinda the last hurrah for my gaming life. After this year at Uni I wont really have time to play anything but maybe pokemon for an hour or so every other day.

Oh well in that case, no brainier. Buy a digital copy at midnight.

This is why i didn't order my copy online. I am going to be waiting at Game Tuesday morning for them to open the door so i can get my copy. Screw waiting for delivery.

Ahah! Yes. I regret ordering it online instead of just reserving a copy in the store, but I wasn't the wiser and it's a mistake I wont be making again!

Does this have spoilers in it?
