Nah, my aggravation with what FFXIII had far less to do with the writing than it did with randomly pulling time travel and 500 year time skips out of its figurative butt.

Expansions to a game's mythos need to respect the nature of that mythos and build on it instead of ignoring it and starting to build a mile away and making only tenuous connections to justify it. Prequel game where you play as Ardyn that shows you how he became what he became? Sure! Interquel during the ten year timeskip where you get to see what everyone was doing? Fantastic! Ideas like that allow for expansion without messing with the way the mythos works. Making an AU doesn't do that.

Well, if there's one thing Squenix ought to have learned from the XIII trilogy, it's that direct sequels sell to a subset (half, maybe) of the original game's buyers, so there's no real benefit to making a completely new game over making DLC for the one people already have. They're never going to be able to sell more copies of "Versus XV" than they did of the initial XV regardless of whether it's "better."
I understand what your saying, but considering Square is already possibly doing a AU sequel with this if you know the ending to Type-0 you will know what I mean, it's AU btw, it's not the timeline change. Also I was talking about the general consensus, hell I wouldn't be suprised if people wanting Versus XIII was apart of Final Fantasy XIII sequels downfall, especially since Lightning Returns was announced sometime before E3, but didn't release until 2013 during the year that Square dropped that HYPE 2013 FFXV trailer.
Them doing the same with Final Fantasy XV isn't that much of a stretch, to me it depends on where they go with it and how well written it is(Oh please be well written or it will be the monkey's paw all over again), tbh FFXV's popular elements really were the Chocobros, take them out and the entire thing falls apart, so to most audiences it won't really matter, if the Chocobros are in it, and it's a great game, it will sell well enough, and arguably be a safe bet to make, since it's popular, and it's going to be using premade assets as opposed to entirely new ones.

Actually there is a benefit to making a completely new game, they can charge 60 dollars with DLC on top for the game in question, and considering the assets are there, it's popular, and it allows them to maximize whatever profit they want after this Luminous problem, however I do see what your saying, but knowing Square they might actually try this, I mean look at the FF7 Remake that game is multi-part taking the blue prints of FFXIII, they seem to be pretty fine with Trilogies and if anything for Versus XV they won't learn from Lightning and her adventures no they will learn from Director Nomura's Final Fantasy VII Remake, and FFXV is already pretty popular it's the fastest selling in FF history, and more liked by all accounts than Final Hallway XIII, and WTF XIII-2, and Mary Sue Returns. So even if FF Versus XV doesn't sell better it could still sell more than let's say a FFXVI which will be in the same engine, a new world, and possibly new gameplay changes that's assuming though FF Versus XV is a quality game.

Agreed, rather have just Disney worlds and maybe a FF world
I'm okay with Final Fantasy characters remaining as glorified cameos. I'd rather they just stick to Disney worlds tbh. Mainly the the non live-action ones. I wasn't a fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean world in KH 2 and even less a fan of the Tron Legacy world in DDD. I think the only live-action crossover that would be acceptable would be Star Wars. Even then they could just have the Clone Wars animation show serve as a template with Darth Vader making an appearance. It's Nomura's main inspiration so it makes sense for a crossover. I think Big Hero 6 should be the extent of any Marvel influence on Kingdom Hearts.

Sorry for derailing the thread. I just despise the idea of the live-action Marvel movies being a world in KH. Even more so with the bad transition from live-action to KH other Disney properties have had before it. Just stick with the animated films.

Don't worry about derailing the thread FINAL FANTASY Versus XV already did that, I was pretty fine with Tron Legacy, and PoC in KH2, I mean in ways they did fit, some ways it might have felt a bit weird, but I think it was something different and I quite enjoyed it, especially the boss fight.

Guys we have several different threads pertaining to "Versus XV" so could you guys post all this stuff there instead?

I come to the General News thread to, yknow, catch up on General News and keep up to date on stuff. Not to get flooded with copious amounts of Versus XV related posts.

So you knew that bringing this topic to the the FFXV general news thread would derail it....I'm starting to feel trolling intentions....

It was llazy that brought it up, I was like dude you ain't gonna get an announcement in Jan 2017, then everyone was debating about it, I brought up it's possibility, then and then and then, derail. Don't worry I'm not a troll.

I'm just simply someone that believes it's too early to say whether it will happen or not, while I do hope it happens I mean 3 games starring the freakin Chocobros, with a KH like combat system(KH combat is one of my favorite combat systems of all time), I'd play the shit out of that on my PC.(Knowing Square it will show up on Steam) I mean 120 hours worth of main story.

I apologize again. I played my part in derailing. We're all probably just feeling the lull waiting for the Anniversary event and its announcements.
And llazy for his Versus XV, or maybe I should say our Versus XV at this point.

You don't have to apologize Jenova I mean you derailed all of humanity, practically creating one of the most powerful psychopath's on the planet, and caused mass genocide. I think derailing a thread ain't too bad.

Now that thats seemingly taken care of...

Final Fantasy XV Sold 88,533 Digital Copies in Japan by Christmas; Total JP Sales Now Over a MiIlion

http://www.dualshockers.com/2017/01...s-japan-christmas-total-jp-sales-now-miilion/

Regardless of it's opening performance compared to previous entires, FFXV is still the #1 best selling PS4 game in japan once all is said and done. As well as the first and only game to cross over a million there, currently.

Damn well hopefully the PC Version can help it reach it's 10 million goal I want FFXV to succeed it would have broken my heart if it was a failure. It really got me into playing FF games 3 years ago.

I hope he takes a vacation after this. I can wait for Type-Next.

Moreover, I'd like to commend Tabata for continuing to appear in the media even with the game's polarizing view among the fanbase. Developers of games past have always ran to the shadows.
i don't think XV's reception was that polarized, at least not XIII levels of polarized.

Agreed. I've seen far more contempt and less defence for FFXIII in comparison. Tabata's case is nowhere near the level of disdain Toriyama and Sean Murray got.
