Final Fantasy VII, but I value my "favorite" thing differently than others.

I remember the day very well, I was young of course the game was fairly new, but I'm not sure the exact year I'm afraid. My older brother stopped by to see our mother, he had been moved out at this point in his life. He asks me if I want two PlayStation games of his that he doesn't ever play. One of them was Metal Gear Solid (another one of my favorite games/series) and Final Fantasy VII.

At that point in my life, I knew nothing of Final Fantasy or JRPGs, this was an entirely new concept for me. This was the moment when my entire lifestyle would shape into what type of person I am today.

Of course, I fell in love with Final Fantasy VII after playing it. It fostered my imagination as a child with my cousins, who also had the game as well. So many places to explore, epic battles to take place in, and a story to follow along with it.

Final Fantasy VII fueled my love for the series, as well as RPGs in general. It also gave me the passion and drive to create my own stories, and even my own games. My cousins and I would play with fake swords and come up with ideas for our own adventures, and as we grew older we molded these memories and ideas into something that we one day wish to create into a game of our own.

This game has driven me to learn how to program which I did at an early age (14 or so) and turn my hobby and my dreams into reality. One day I hope to realize these dreams and make something that all can enjoy, that is my life's goal. Without this game, the person I am today would not be the same. It has always been an important part of my life both in childhood and throughout the years for the inspiration it has given me.

Sorry for my long winded explanation, I've cut a lot of fluff out to not bore anyone. I figured that some people might be interested why I consider it my favorite. :happyboko:

Wow. Thanks for sharing. FFX is my favourite just because it was my first FF game and I loved it. Haha.

I'll say every main title i have ever played (and still finishing to play) is my favourite, but for the sake of this thread i would chose FINAL FANTASY X so listen to my story:

My very first game in the series i've played and also the first game i played on the PS2 back in 2005. Engaged with the plot from the get go until the very last second, cried and enjoyed in its heartwarming, awesome, funny and tearjearking moments.

My first time experiencing the ""common"" battle system of the series, not bad at all the planning and strategy in battle wasn't either.
My love and "adiction" to the game were so strong that i spent +120 hours of gameplay in 3 separated walkthrough (and still counting).

After finishing it , my love and interest in the franchise started and so i played the other games, some with more frequency than others (hence why i still have pending some FF, also i like other franchises :p and took me a whill to get them).

After that i played the nextgames in this order (from 2º to last):XII,X-2,VII,VIII,IV,V,VI,I,II,III,IX, with some spin offs and other non numbered games in between some of the maintitle.

While it can be argue that the other games surpass FFX in many aspects, it will never change my love for it (though FFXV seens like a interesting candidate to share the Nº1 spot:oops: with FFX)

And this is my story.

My favorite FF game would be the very first FF game I've played, which is FFIX for one simple reason: it introduced me to the series. It didn't have to be FFIX, as long as it's an FF game in the Playstation-era, since I was so into the art style and soundtracks. Then it got me thinking that this was the 9th iteration of the series, yet it's so good. It got me curious and proceeded playing the rest of the game series backwards. I mean literally, since after FFIX, I got a gift from my aunt. She saw that I liked RPGs so she bought a game with the same name(though the number differ), which was FFVIII. That got me started to really like the series. After that, I played FFVII, FF Anthology, FF Chronicles (it was like hitting two birds with one stone, FFIV & Chrono Trigger, since I've liked Chrono Cross) and FF Origins. I was furious at the time since I haven't played FFIII back then. I don't know why but I didn't want to skip playing FFIV to FFII, without passing first FFIII. I mean, who does that? Playing the series in backwards order? Fortunately, each world & story in every FF game was wholly different and independent from each other, so it didn't matter what you start.
After I knew I was hooked to RPGs, that was the start of my long hours of playing. If I remember correctly, my first scolding from my mom was because of it. Forgive me if there's so much memory tied to my life and Final Fantasy.
