Don't you think it's possible that a PS4 version is in the works, and that they're releasing the arcade version first while a home console experience (story mode, online multiplayer, etc) gets fleshed out? Fighting games do it all the time so I wouldn't look past Square Enix to not follow a similar practice.

In any case, I'm sure high demand will prompt SE to work on one if they haven't already.

As for what I think about the announcement: Divine Seal + Regen combo please! I'd be nuts to channel a Cure with that much chaos.

I'm honestly confused. Why does Square Enix seem to not put games on consoles when they could be? It's not like they can't but it's like they don't want to...
Presence of a home console version takes away potential revenue and attention from the arcade version. Depending on their goal, targeting a more general audience and cultivating a community in Japan arcades might be in SE's interests, perhaps to advertise the Final Fantasy brand.

I wasn't aware that arcade gaming was more popular than consoles in Japan. Well it's a sad time for people like me who prefer Japanese games over western ones and loves their consoles.

Hard to find good games now days from Japan that's not mobile or arcade like the PS2 and PSOne days, maybe should just find other hobbies...

Well, it's certainly bigger than anywhere else, but I've read that the arcade scene is slowly declining there.

Also, cheer up! Nobody said there wouldn't be a console version. I like Japanese games just like you do. The console lineup for them is actually pretty neat this year.

OMG OMG OMG T_______T

Seeing Tera and Cloud (Original Design) in HD and with this graphics... It's like a dream comes true for me! The game itself looks faster and crazier than the PSP games, and 3v3 is a great addition!!

I'm pretty sure it will come eventually to PS4, It's a Final Fantasy game and a high-budget one, it won't be an arcade exclusive. Betting Winter 2016 with FFXV characters as a console exclusive.

Yea, you're right thank you. :)

I hope the chances of this coming to consoles are high though.

Yeah, more often than not, new fighters get announced for arcade first, then they do a console version later. There are some exceptions, but I'm sure they'll be working up a PS4 port.

That said, I must throw my weight behind asking for a port badly. Looks gorgeous, and I spent a lot of time in Dissidia. Would definitely buy this shit.

As somebody who likes competitive fighters I'm again a little disappointed that this looks like something that can't/won't support a competitive scene, but the arcade setting gives the impression that perhaps at least the RPG elements will be gone and it'll be straight up pre-set move sets for each character, which is certainly a step.

Confirmed characters are:
* Lightning Farron
* Warrior of Light
* Terra Branford
* Cloud Strife
* Y'shtola
Did I miss someone? Hopefully not. And hopefully this make it outside Japan. I fear that when they talk about arcade, they have the tendency to just stick in Japan, and not make it to overseas. Our chances on getting this relies on the Japanese gaming community and make it a big hit! Thoughts?

Yes, you're missing an Onion Knight.

Onion Knight was in the trailer as well.

Not surprised you forgot Onion Knight; one of the characters I care least about alongside WoL.

I'd like to see Yuffie as a ranged and quick ninja character. Rikku would also be on my list. So many to choose from, though... Barret, Quistis, Selphie, Zell, Freya... A lot of FF7/8/9 characters would be great to really offer more unique playstyles.
