I guess we need this one guys.

Hows your playthru so far lads? I really like it, spend 4 hours, currently at start of chapter 2. I really need to know if there is an item to prevent you from leveling? It would've been helpful.

Friendly advice to listen to the radios and read papers, tons of interesting stuff here. Luna interview, Regis speech - everything through the radio.

Love my Masamune and Leviathan skin for car :p

Currently 5-ish hours in. On the final Dino quest in Leide (or at least it seems like it, that doesn't count as a spoiler right?) and loving the game. I'm trying to collect everything, do every hunt and level up as much as possible, and it's so much fun. I'm finally getting a hang of the combat, but I'm still trash at dodging and parrying. I can physically move out the way, or stop an incoming attack with my own, but I can't time that square button press for the life of me.

Omg yes!!

I found the scattered radios and was surprised at how much they revealed!!

Don't stop listening and keep pressing X for more new segments.

It's sooo much fun. My friend had to literally drag me away from the console just to eat dinner lol

I think you can choose your control scheme in the options menu to make blocking and attacking easier.

There should be an option for block and attack to be controlled on different hands so you don't have to inconvenience yourself by lifting your thumb from O to move to square.

I've tried both Type A and C. Haven't tried B yet, might give that a shot and see how that works.

Don´t have the game or a new console yet but like reading what others say :).

Opinions on the Type C control scheme? Does it feel good?I find having the attack button on the R2/TR trigger to be an odd choice.

Yeah its def weird. But I can see it working for the people who mainly use the trigger button for their actions (so people who mainly play shooters). But then again, I would've rather had a control type similar to KH2. Mainly cause I love having attack on X.

The daggers are pretty sick aren't they? Very slick weapons.
Yeah fun weapon. I heard you have to hold stick backwards while attacking to perform dropkick.

I want to sleep so badly and want to play so badly at the same time. :( Can't enjoy the game when im tired so much :(

What are your thoughts on the driving you guys?

Personally, even if it is on rails and guided, I really do like the road trip theme they were going for. FF music playing in the background while I swivel the camera and take a good long look at the world around me is quite satisfying for some reason. I don't find myself feeling bored with it.

But then again I am the type of gamer to read every single datalog in FF13 so patience is something I've never had a problem with =P

Ignis driving... Noctis driving...it really is the same thing since you can still move the car even when Ignis is driving.

Lol it's been awhile for me since I've played the game to have reached that point.

FFXV has made me go back to the very long gaming sessions I used to have back when I was a kid. Very addictive.

Absolutely love the game so far, chapter 7 - 17 hours in. Beautiful scenery, well crafted world. Story is a little bit vague, but i don't see how people can call it bad (but i can't assume, since i didn't finish it yet). Despite its flaws game is well deserved 8.5

Also im in love with drop kick dagger move, its looks so dope. One real problem i have with game - its really easy if you did some hunts and sidequests you will be always levels ahead of ur enemies. Hope for challenging post-game.

I am nearly 18 hours in. I've got to Lestallum (sp?) but I don't think I have done much of the story. Just doing hunts and side quests. Found some string as fuck monsters which royally kicked my ass. Haha.

I am on chapter 3.

The drop kick comes at the end of the backwards dagger movement. So he throws the daggers I think like 5 times, then on the last one warps in on it with the drop kick. Very nice way to loop the sword and the daggers together.

13 straight hours yesterday. Time off well spent!

I spent the majority of my time torn between trying to get all the side quests done and trying to move on with the story. By the time I hit chapter 3, i was in full-on open-world mode, though. I've decided I will definitely keep up with the hunts, but I'll hold off on side quests until I know a little more about which ones are worth doing. A lot of the ones I've run into so far seem like they might be part of larger chains, which is the way I would like it, IF I knew it was worth it in the end. It may end up being that I save those all for the second run. I will definitely keep up with the hunts, though. I'm somewhere in the middle of rank 3.

It's been a blast. It sucks that I have to work today. My original plan was to be on vacation for this but my nephew lives with me and he was in his senior year in high school all year, doing nothing but bringing back all of the germs, so I had no time left to use. I was lucky enough to save a single day.

I'm starting to get pockets of combat where I'm actually intentionally executing complex combos, as opposed to fumbling for the buttons and just awkwardly getting the job done, lol. It's coming along, though. And it's addictive as hell. I appreciate that there's quite a bit of downtime opportunities in this game as well, because otherwise, I could just sit there fighting monsters ALL DAY.

So much to digest, and we're just getting started. Anyone know of any decent spoiler-free resources out there with tips/tricks and strategies and whatnot yet?

Really digging the game!
One thing is still confusing me though :p
When you use the left analog stick to influence the combo's noctis does, do you actually have to tap the analog stick in directions or can you hold it?
I've tried doing the backflip move for example but i'm never sure if it's triggered randomly while holding the analog stick backwards(cooldown based?) or if i have to tilt the analog stick back and release it while attacking.
Thanks!

I haven't tried tapping! I've just been holding them down. Sometimes it take a little jiggling because he'll be on a diagonal and it doesn't seem to like the analogue stick being in a diagonal.
