Having both gone through the Collector's Edition Piggyback strategy guide, and seen a few fragments here and there, there are a couple of things that are notable, or at least stood out to me.
The biggest problem finding anything is how much they wanted to simplify the lore. They almost simplified it out of existence.
So, what caught your attention and made you think?
* On page 318-319 is a kind of bottled history of Eos, which is divided between the old A.E. calander system and the current M.E. calander. In the ancient period, the known world was dominated by the prosperous empire of Solheim. At its peak, the Astral Ifrit led some kind of betrayal, which plunged Solheim into a war that led to its destruction. This was exasperated by a "parasite" whatever that means (the Daemons or Starscourge), and that the King and Oracle were chosen: the King to end the scourge, and the Oracle to lead the people. Of course, no explanation is so far available for either of these. It'll be great if/when someone creates a list of item descriptions, as they seem to have pieces of lore in them, or digs around and shares their findings.
* In the Pitioss post-endgame dungeon, where only Noctis can travel, there is a complex arrangement of rooms that defy geometry. Inside, I noticed strange statues and symbols: large male figurines, daemon-like figures, barriers of red energy with a man's face on them, a giant skull on a vicious trap during the second segment of the dungeon, and a female figure lurking in the shadows behind said trap - one in particular is a huge statue of (I think) the same woman raising a sword to strike. I don't know who any of these are, but the dungeon looks like it predates the M.E. Era, which is the time of the Oracle. I don't think the woman the Oracle, so who would merit inclusion in such a grand and terrifying dungeon? Also, a neat thing is that Noctis isn't allowed to die...
