Thought a new thread that compiles all the details from the talk show would be good.
Walking the world
  • The first video shown is a portion of the Duscae region which will be on the demo
  • Events and enemy position removed/changed for this video to show just the walking
  • You can eat and gather information at gas stations
  • If you can see something in the background you can go to it
  • Depending on the shape of the ground Noct and friends walking animations will change
  • If you keep running you can see your friends tire and try to catch their breath
  • You can fish in streams, rivers, and the ocean!
  • You can fight the wildlife. As they are always active, be careful as they will attack if you get close
  • There are buildings in the forest with people living in them. You can enter some of these buildings
  • There are also animals that aren't enemies like cats and dogs
  • In order to make the mountains the developers actually climbed one. They might show a video of them doing this one day
  • Demons like the Naga or the Goblins will come out of the caves at night
  • It's dangerous at night and is safer to rest at a gas station or by other means
  • The party members dialogue will change in accordance to the time
  • A Chocobo was shown in the forest. Look forward to finding out more in the demo
  • The enemy airship patrols will sometimes land and fight you
  • Magitek Armor will make an appearance. (was not meant to have been said)
  • The Duscae region is as a large as 10% of the game
  • If you walk from one end to another in Duscae (Demo area) it will probably take over an hour.
The Tech Demo!
  • Currently transferring the game from Ebony to Luminous
  • Engine transferring currently 80% complete and will be 100% done by the time the demo is out.
  • Working with Sony and MS to help push the hardware to its limits
  • Not all, but you can destroy buildings and the ground
  • With the power of Luminous FFXV will far surpase FF:AC
  • Another tech demo is planned to be shown at a later date
Your questions to Tabata

Q.What if I mash the attack button instead of holding it down?
A.Even if you mash the attack button the combo will still operate fine and connect together. It's possible to counter while you button mash; if you hold the button down you have to be more careful of the enemies movements and it's more strategic.

Q.Will Type0 HD be available digitally and will it come with the FFXV demo?
A.Of course

Q.Why doesn't the MP show up on the UI?
A.The battle UI is still temporary. When it is complete it will clearly show the MP

Q.I'm a little worried the game will only last 40 hours
A.The main story itself will take 40 hours. Beating dungeons and other actives will make the length of the game much longer

Jump Festa!

Here are some questions that were to important to be answered here. These will all gradually be revealed as time goes on:
  • Show a city!
  • Show the world map!
  • Where is Cor?
  • Who the hell is Luna!
  • More info on different ways of transportation!
  • Summoning info please!

I was actually going to post the last part. Is something they've said are going to show/answer in the future?

That would be sweet. I've said this a million times, but I want to see how cities work in this game. And going by recent showings in the game, I actually expect them to be rather significant and alive, with the day/night cycle, the changing weather, the lighting. I remember when the game was still Versus that I kept imagining the world map layout and where Lucis was located ;_;

I also like that they're adressing Cor and Luna. Still salty as fuck about not being able to control him, but well. And the "who the hell is Luna?" kinda supports (imho) the idea that she's a different character and not a renamed Stella (this would be really silly, especially when they've said nothing regarding story/characters have changed).

The transportation part (apart from Magitek armours)... airships? I'm not too confident about them being playable, but I recall that, yesterday at Paris, Tabata said something among the lines of "we'll talk soon about them". So maybe they actually are... or maybe they're just the enemies' ones and/or a fast travel method.

And yes, summons please. Last year I wasn't too confident of having summons that big (although I don't expect to have Leviathan to be nearly that size when we get him, unless it's just an attack and then vanishes), but given how enormous the game is, now I can see them working really well in those open fields.

Yeah. They showed those on screen apparently and they said it's too important to answer right now but will later on. These questions are probably saved for Jump Festa because we'll get a story trailer, I bet.
My guess is Airships is the big surprise they keep talking about in the demo. Given the scale of the world and how they mentioned it a couple of times as you said, it seems obvious.

I'm pretty sure Luna is a new character. Cor is likely a temp playable character. And they'll be a few big hub cities like the capital of each kingdom and all others will be small settlements or towns. I hope the jump festa is a big character story reveal but if not I'll wait till the game. I've waited this long. I wanna see ice cap zones and deserts next world wise.

Nice then! Oh, and I loved those NPCs even if they didn't interact with them. Seriously, I can't wait for them to show Accordo, the activities you can perform in a city and how interactive and big (or not) they are.

Now that Kokayi talks about "ice", there is snow in the tech demo at one point, right? I love snowy places and playing them around Christmas :0 I think a cold city would be cool for Niflheim.

I still feel sorry about Nomura though, even if he's an introvert, I'd say he would have liked being part of this ;_;

Does it mean we can climb mountains now? I remember Nomura saying we can go anywhere but mountains.

A Chocobo was shown in the forest.
*heavy breathing*

I'm so excited for this game. So many things are to be shown at Jump Festa, I just can't wait.

They showed off some cool elements, but I was really hoping for additional story details. I guess I'll be waiting until the event for that.

Hmm, I was wondering the same thing. I imagine you still can't scale mountains, because this isn't Skyrim, and mountains make efficient barriers at the edge of the map without blatantly using an invisible wall. So why does one need to climb a mountain to make non-accessible mountains, unless...at some point you're piloting/hijacking/fighting in/on an airship that is currently going over some mountains and they want some kind of realistic real-life sense of the altitude and geological features from that height? Who knows.

@BladeRunner I believe so. They've basically expanded the map in the transition to PS4/XBO.
I'm pretty sure they were climbing up a mountain too midway through the video when in the dense forest. He panned the camera back when it was going night and you were level with the mountains on the other side.

  • You can eat and gather information at gas stations
I don't know why, but I might be the most excited about what I've heard about gas stations, hotels, and BBQing. I like the little elements of realism. I even (tenatively) like that the amount of rest you've had impacts how well you battle, though there's a chance that I might find it practically inconvenient once I've started playing :p

If they really want to make it pseudo-authentic, petrol prices should become increasingly extortionate as the game goes on, because, well you know, there's a war going on!

EDIT: Derp. Misread that. I somehow managed to interpret "eat and gather information at gas stations" as actually purchasing petrol to fill up your car's tank otherwise you stop dead in the middle of nowhere. I was about to say that no other game does that, as far as I know of!

Music to my damn ears! And to think this is only the tip of the iceberg.

Actually the rent-able cars in FFVIII could run out of gas, which you had to purchase. Although XV seems to have a much more realistic, fleshed out approach.

I must say, it must suck to have to stop at a gas station of all places to take a bite to eat. I dunno, unless they're sort of different in the States, but our petrol stations simply consist of a miserable store selling some chocolate, stale sandwiches, out of date cold drinks and the occasional porn magazine, as the choking smell of petrol wafts in the background. It's never a place to sit down, grab a bite to eat and socialise with strangers. We in the UK have also long joked about roadside cafes with mixed reputations at best called Little Chef and the Prince here has it worse than us!

Completely forgot about that. >.>

I haven't touched FFVIII in the last seven years...seven years, why do I feel old already?
