Tetsuya Nomura Hopes The Miku Collaboration Will Lead To Something Surprising

Earlier tonight, we got a glimpse at a surprise collaboration from Kingdom Hearts creator Tetsuya Nomura, who shared his own take of the Vocaloid Hatsune Miku for the Hatsune Miku Art Exhibition which kicks off tomorrow. Famitsushares more from the event.

During the opening event, Vocaloid producers Crypton Future Media’s key figure Hiroyuki Ito made an appearance to talk about Hatsune Miku and a little bit on her history since the original release back in 2007.

In addition to artwork created by numerous artists including original Hatsune Miku illustrators in KEI and Zain, the above is a look at one of the works done by Square Enix’s Tetsuya Nomura as part of a collaboration.

During the event, they also showcased a world premier presentation by Square Enix CG studio Visual Works, who put together high quality movie featuring the Vocaloid Hatsune Miku.

After the presentation, Nomura talked a little bit about his work, where he mentioned that when he was first offered the part in the collaboration, he asked himself “why me?” since the genre is quite different from his usual work.

However, after thinking about how it’s not a genre that he’s quite familiar with, he figured that he could perhaps do something fun with it. To mark such an occasion, instead of just doing still images, he decided to produce a video with Visual Works.

“Using this [occasion] as an opportunity, it’d be great if we could make another surprising development come true,” said Nomura at the event, as he hinted towards the possibility of another collaboration with Hatsune Miku in the future.

Tetsuya Nomura will also make an appearance at the New York Comic Con 2014, which takes place from October 9th until the 12th, where he’s expected to share more on his latest non-video game-related work.

Finally, here’s another look at some of the other Miku stuff that is in display at the Hatsune Miku Art Exhibition – Universal Positivity:

I saw that billboard... her legs in that artwork look unnatural though. Think she'll sing FF music next?
