I figured I'd set up a thread for those who wanted to talk about the upcoming X & Y versions of Pokemon. Trainer customization, diagonal movement, a new type, and Pokemon riding are just a few of the things being added with the 3DS iteration of the game.

Are there any kinds of Pokemon you'd like to see specifically? How about move, type combinations, or battle types? Do you think you'll leave your character as the default appearance, or do you plan to go crazy?

I was pretty excited too. The Rock/Ice was a little too cute for me at first, but when I saw its evolved form I was sold. I'm not sure what I'm going to do, though, because I actually love both of them quite a lot. Stuff like Tyrunt and Noivern are the reason I'm super glad they added the Fairy type. With a type that's fantastic against Dragon easily available and with much better stat sets/type combinations than Ice has had, Dragon types can now become a more prolific typing early-game. It doesn't need to be mostly reserved for Legendaries and late-game super rares anymore, and I'm thankful for that.

Right now I KNOW I'm going to use the Ghost/Steel type, and I'm pretty sure I'm choosing the Fire starter if the rumored Fire/Psychic final typing turns out to be true. I'm gonna use Noivern for team battles, and beyond that I'm not sure what kind of team I'll make. As a Ghost-type specialist, I'm looking forward to more potential new Ghosts besides Honedge/Doublade.

I think most people will stick with the rex on that one lol.

The last new type they added was gen 2. Its gen 6 and this game really feels like gen 1 for a new generation.

I am a froakie fanboy.

I'm playing this game right now. Prevented from talking about it just yet, but when that restriction lifts, you guys can ask whatever you liked.

(PS: Picked Fire).
WOMAN I WILL CUT YOU.

I mean. No wait, come back! I'm looking forward to this game honestly, although I won't be able to get it for a long while. When you are allowed to tell me stuff about it, lemme know. I have some questions for sure!

I.... I didn't even think about which gender I'd play as. Seeing as I haven't done any research on the game, I'm unsure of what the differences between them in. (Do they get costume changes or something in this one?) Honestly, it's a very hard decision for me at this point.

Also, seeing as I don't know the new pokemon - at all. (Again, haven't been keeping up with it.) I'm not sure where I'll lean. Typically I lean towards normal, ghost, and psychic types but I'll just have to pick it up and see what I like in this new game.

Well, you can apparently choose from three default appearances for each gender:

There is indeed trainer customization, although just how many options and how extensive it can get is unknown. Hair color and style seem changeable, and there are various ways to get costume pieces. Rumor says you can't take off your main character's hat, and your default outfit changes color based on what you picked as your "favorite" color for your 3DS menu. There's no info to back that last part up yet, sadly.

They did confirm the presence of clothing shops though. :)

As for Pokemon themselves, there are definitely some new Pokemon in the types you mentioned. There are now a few elemental types that have been paired with Normal, like Fire and Electric. There's a new Ghost/Steel Pokemon that is a possessed sword basically, and one of the new Psychic types is a Psychic/Dark squid. In case you hadn't heard, there's a new type.
It's called Fairy type, and it is immune to Dragon type moves while being weak to Poison and Steel.
Several older Pokemon are being retyped to fit this new type or having it added to them, including many previously Normal-type Pokemon.

I'm gonna trade in my old Wii and a bunch of games, see if I can get enough to pre-order Pokemon X on Thursday. I'm way too excited for new type combinations and fully 3D models. I've been waiting for this since the beginning of the DS era!

Who is going to challenge me for the title of pokemon master?
I might, depending on how the type balance and so on shakes out this generation. I'm not much for competitive play, but I do have a love of Ghost-types so I'll probably end up experimenting with whatever new Ghosts show up.

We will exchange ID's at some point and battle.

So far we havent seen any new ghosts other than the steel/ghost sword
According to rumor there's a new Ghost/Bug spider Pokemon, and the briefly revealed (but not talked about) Oorotto (JP name, no US name released) is giving the impression of either being Grass/Dark or Grass/Ghost. Even if Honedge and Doublade are the only Ghost line of the generation, though, I'll be okay with it.

And of course, as soon as I have my 3DS my info is going straight on my profile page.

I am pretty excited for this game, but honestly I haven't been reading much news on it at all. I think at this point I better off leaving it to when I actually get to play it. I'll be getting the WHYYYY version. :p

I'm a water type lover since season 1! So I go with at least two water types in my team, definitely a ghost type (i always try to have a Haunter! That tongue! :D )
and since I'm buying the X version, I will definitely try Xerneas later in the game. the rest I'll decide during playing.

Wow! If character customisation is that much available then I suppose we'll get to spend lots of hours on that. I'm pretty excited too for the game. The new generation is really awesome. I have to play since FireRed. So my 3DS will be pleased with this I'm sure!

@Ehren
Since the new Fairy type is 2x offensive against Dark type, won't be Xerneas superior to Yveltal? I wonder how the main legendary are not balanced in power this time...
