Any relevant answers are appreciated.
I'm thinking about playing FFXV on Windows PC, but I'm not really understanding what the differences are between the original FFXV that was released in 2016 and the "Royal Edition" that's being released next month. Is it basically just all the DLC that were released over the last year?

The windows edition and Royal Edition are basically identical content wise. It contains the season pass and the various additions being patched into the game from the Royal Pack DLC
Royal Pack DLC? Is this the one with the Comrades extension and all of that?

Royal Edition is the base game, with the season pass and expansion pack (called the Royal Pack) which upgrades it to the Royal Edition included.

The Windows Edition is the equal of the Royal Edition.

The Comrades update in March is part of the free content update according to OG and the trailer. However, Comrades requires having purchased it, or the Season Pass, or Royal Edition to access.
