Final Fantasy XV - General News Thread

Oh snap, i had that same theory once, lol. And, I started a similar thread on the other board, too, haha. The premise was that whoever made the most accurate predictions without missing a single thing wins, because I wanted people to put some thought into it. But it was not the right board for putting thought into things...

No airships in FFXV as we know it is my guess. Instead, we'll get something cooler (or lamer, depending on what you think of flying ––––––).

New summon and location reveals would be nice. And the resolution to a long-touted rumor. All I'm hoping for are good music and a demo release date, really. Can't stand to wait until the full game's out and need something XV-related to pass the time.

移動 Move
ダッシュ Dash
カメラ操作 Camera Operation
ジャンプ Jump
ドッジロール Dodge Roll

As you can see, dodge roll is on
just like in Kingdom Hearts, as I suspected it to be.
Now if they'll just adopt a more Kingdom Hearts combo system I'll be made in the shade.

Sorry to double post, but this actually got me thinking. I wonder if this indicates that holding to dodge didn't make it past focus testing? Or is it something else altogether? Are they possibly doing a Kingdom Hearts approach wherein dodge roll can be executed while moving and guard or in this case dodge can be executed by holding? After the way Tabata talked it up I'd be surprised if hold to dodge had been axed, but either outcome is honestly great as far as I'm concerned! It seems like whatever they've done it'll probably result in slightly more active defense from the player.

I already mentioned this in my post about the battle trailer from the Nifelheim footage, but I think it's an entirely different battle system from Duscae. Tabata mentioned having a different battle mode for difficulty instead of standard difficulty modes people are used to. I believe that the more tactical style battle system will have a Guard stance similar to selecting Guard in classic turn based battle systems for your turn. While, what we've been seeing lately is the more "difficult" action oriented battle system. This allows two create two semi unique battle systems appealing to more hardcore gamers and more casual gamers. This falls in line with what Tabata has said about XV appealing to anyone.

If you'd like to see where the old system is in place, check the other thread made where I point it out against the Garula. I was going to make an entire video over it, but lost interest after having delayed it by several weeks, so that's all I have as of right now.

Sounds plausible to me, though I'll be a bit frustrated at the beginning if this is the case. I struggle hard with choices like these, it'll be tough for me to decide which is the best battle system.

I feel like a lot of people don't know about the alternate battle mode or the existence of a new and different demo version so I hope Square gets that point across next week.

There hasn't been much, if any talk about that alternate battle mode yet, has there? I did read the initial quotes about it and it's intriguing but I really, really have no idea what to expect there.

I'll be playing it on the fastest possible mode, but I'm still curious. If it's different enough, it could be utilized in a challenge run like the difference between active and wait on FFXII, where I would play the whole game on active first, then do a low level run on wait.

I-would-like-the-battle-mode-to-be-similar-to-FFXII's-active-and-wait-system,-but-more-evolved.-What-if-the-evolution-of-atb-would-be-a-mix-of-Chrono-Cross's-battle-system-where-it-still-maintains-an-action-like-control-but-is-at-the-same-time-turn-based/atb.-I-Think-FFXV-should-do-something-like-that-where-in-one-mode-is-Arpg-but-for-those-who-don't-want-to-play-that-way-all-they-need-to-do-is-go-to-options-and-switch-battle-modes-to-something-that-is-inbetween-both-CC-and-FFXIIILR-battle-system.

I-don't-really-like-the-thought-of-an-action-based-battle-system-that-can-be-changed-to-turn-based-by-the-press-of-a-button.-Something-about-that-makes-me-feel-like-the-combat-wasn't-truly-action-based-in-the-first-place-(talking-about-timing-sensitive-guard/parry/evade,-and-positioning).-I-absolutly-loved-LR's-hybrid-combat,-but-if-FFXV-could-be-changed-to-something-like-that-optionally-I-think-it'd-be-a-bad-compromise-with-the-worst-of-both-worlds.

I-assume-the-two-different-battle-modes-are-more-about-the-"hold-button-to-guard/attack-automatically"-and-automatic-weapon-switching-instead-of-manual.

Yeah, I think you can already hold the button to dodge. Dodging with good timing is only good for saving MP (This is with Duscae, so obviously much has changed)

Just posting that for reference. That's just so, so vague. It could mean something small and subtle, or it could mean separate complete battle systems. I thought I read something somewhere where there might be a guard mode vs assault mode, which I originally thought was just what they were calling holding the attack and guard buttons, but I can't find the source.

Instead, here's a picture of Prompto giving Gladio 1000 years of pain:

For no reason other than it makes me laugh every time.
