Final Fantasy XV - General News Thread

Munba

Stiltzkin's Apprentice

I think this is one of the best music dungeon i heard... it reminds me also a bit Via Purifico theme of 10.
It seems a fusion between Shimomura and Uematsu, so nice.

^ Man, everytime i try to listen FFXV music on youtube there is always spoiler videos in recommendations right after, im so fucking tired of this shit. Always need to clear my watch history.

Actually the theme is available on 27th for European like us (that, if you have preordered the game copy with the theme included as bonus).
I wondered where the theme was as well, back when i preordered the game, and i found out that just in North America the preorder bonuses are available straight away.
Well, its just one day anyway.

First it was all like "The game is coming soon!"
Then it was all like "The game is coming next year!"
Then it was all like "The game is coming out next month!"
Now it's all like "The game is coming out on Tuesday!"

Let that sink in. Feel the glow.
I remember talking with my cousin back in the day when it was still Versus and we never got any new information for the whole year and we were like "if this game isn't at E3 this year then it's canceled"... spoilers, it wasn't at E3 that year. Several years later and my copy of the game should be shipping today and arriving on Tuesday.

According to Kotaku (even after the XV reveal), Versus was cancelled. XD

To me, though, it's more like Schrodinger's Video Game -- it's both cancelled and not-cancelled until you look in the box... except that you can't actually look in the box, because it was replaced with a similar-but-not-identical box. ;)

I don't know. I'd rather wait to play the entire game before I give my opinion on it. Also, I'll wait for full reviews, as I haven't been paying attention to impressions.
Fair enough. I'd take reviews with a grain of salt though.

So basically, any FF fan who's ever finished Bloodborne and liked it won't find a problem with XV's not-always-so-obvious "storytelling." And if they do, well, Idk what to say.
It definitely seems like it. More impressions are coming in saying there IS a story but you have to go exploring to uncover it by doing side quests, listen to the radio, and other stuff.

I think the major issue here is that a FF game has never told its story like this before since fans are used to watching cutscenes to get the story. Hand fed in other words.

It is quite a leap to be fair, but one I take no issue with since I'm the type to explore every corner of the map in games.

Yeah I like the more direct cutscene way of telling stories. Same reason why I dont play souls games for the story.

Definitely dividing but it's interesting that this is the way games are starting to tell their stories in order to encourage exploration.

Like I've said before, how much story you get to experience is directly correlated to how much time you invest into the world of Eos.

Been listening to the music you guys have shared on here via my mobile to avoid spoilers.

Do we all agree that this is probably one of the best soundtracks in the series?

This is definitely my kinda music for sure.
Can't say because I consider listening to the music to be spoilers as well xD

From what little I've heard through gameplay, it quite possibly is.
Final Fantasy osts always a 10/10 for me.....well, minus FFXIII.

...are people forgetting a little game from nearly two decades ago called Final Fantasy VII? >.>

Because the way I remember that game, you only got the full backstory about the guy Cloud modeled himself after if you went to the basement of the mansion in Nibelheim unprompted, and there was a party member who you could miss entirely even though he was more tied up in Sephiroth's backstory than anyone other than Cloud.

With that said, I think what FFXV is trying to do might be a bit different. Its core ambition is "road game," and that means focusing on internal development and relationships between traveling companions more than external plot development. And while there's no way to know how well that's executed until one actually plays the game, it does seem like "the party dynamic is great but nothing happens" is exactly the sort of reaction one might expect if someone went into that sort of game expecting something more plot-heavy.

(I'm of the opinion that, however it turns out, FFXV is going to be fascinating to analyze.)

Going by impressions some people love it and some people hate it. It seems like this game is going to be very polarizing in that regard. It seems like people are mixed on the overall plot as well as the second half is more story heavy than the first.
