this game have a major flaw, it's addictive as f*ck

feels like i'm back in the times when I used to play longer sessions; the dungeons are fantastic.
Yeah. My normal routine usually involves me skipping every other night because I'm just braindead, but since getting this game, I have spent every non-working, non-otherwise obligated time playing this game and only this game. And I was uneasy about some of it in the beginning, but it's fully set in now. I'm all in.

20+ hours in, completely immersed.

combat is fun (plus the dungeons!)
ost is awesome
plot is good (cutscenes are rushed tho)
characters are all interesting/likeable

but the world/aesthetic and all the activities you can do is FFXV biggest positive to me, it just sucks you in; feeling this blend of reality and fantasy every step you make is amazing (one of the main things i expected from versus).

driving your car, fishing, going into a nearby gas station to fuel your tank, little by little you feel part of this world.

i think FFXV is everything i want from this franchise, but still too soon, chapter 5, really curious to see how the second half will hold up.

It's the fact that they don't attack you unless you initiate the battle :(

And I felt pretty bad about Deadeye too. Poor dude just wanted to live quietly and all of the sudden a group of rich snobs from a foreign city start blasting fire on his ass.
Did you hear the radio broadcast of the Deadeye's death? I love little touches like that in game cause its completely missable, but it makes the world feel so much more alive.

I'm now 40 hours in, having completed the story earlier this week. It reminds me of the days i would pour hours into playing the PS2, there's still loads to do and i'm absolutely loving my time with it. I spent a good 25 hours just exploring the world, completing side quests, monster hunts, fishing, finding new ingredients for Ignis (a particular highlight when he finds a new recipe!) and riding chocobo's, before i thought about progressing the story. Spending that time with Noctis, Gladio, Ignis and Prompto made the second half and that ending all the more impactful.

The game has it's flaws, but it's been a blast so far and i'll happily say it's been one of the best games i've played this generation along with Uncharted 4 and Bloodborne.

LOL well when you put it that way Noctis and crew sound like assholes xD

He was causing havoc and danger to the area though, but yes he was just doing what Behemoths usually do.

I was watching a resting Anak, and it was watching me quietly, then I warpstriked it with an axe to the face.

Noctis is mega asshole confirmed.

.
Hahaha for me its normally just sprinting through the Duscaen fields and accidentally walking past a Garula, which just makes Noctis lock onto it and attack. GG game confirmed to intrinsically be an asshole.

Nothing like four, full grown, and armed men ganging up on a harmless, grazing baby Garula to let the world know that they're badass and don't mess with them xD

Continuing in my world tour if liking things everyone else hates, I've developed an appreciation for two more things. Justice Monsters, and the flying regalia.

I'll start with the Regalia. I did the first on a lark, thinking I'd just force myself to do some side quests and actually fly there instead if fast traveling.

Very first thing I did was try to show off for my nephew who is also playing. I tell him I got this. landing is not that hard. I take off from galdin quay , trying to skim over the walls. I turn to my nephew and totally cool and confident, I say "only pussies fast travel", and I just barely clear that wall like a boss, and straight into a tree and exploded and died. Ok, yes, it's not toootally safe. I get you.

But, I started up again and started doing the vyv photo quests. I flew from location to location and I fucking loved it. For one, landing really isn't that hard once you get the hang if it, but for another, it's like it's own game. Completely eliminated any sense of teduim from getting from one point to the other, and I have to brace myself and focus a little bit when I land. Hell it's the only sense of danger I've had in this game since I got good at the combat.

But, no loading screens, some thrills, and I'm bouncing around from one gorgeous view to another, while watching the gorgeous view from the sky.

Anyway, seriously recommend anyone that put it away right off the bat gives it another chance.

I'll get to jmv another time. But, I have a lot of thoughts on that, too.

Justice Monsters Five.

I do not believe I have read a single kind word about this mini game. I contend this is the best non-long term mini game in all of FFXV history. This rules out cards, blitzball, etc. Battle arenas I would also put into their own category.

Its fairly simple and stupid easy, but it's pretty fun once you get the hang of it. If you're just hitting x and hoping it goes your way, you're doing it wrong. You can put spin on it and squeeze it in where you need it. You get 4 different characters to throw into the game, each one having a different element and special moves. Though the special moves are pretty close to the same. If one of your balls or whatever is about to die, you can swap them out and they'll get healed when you get hearts and health potions with another ball.

It's quick and smooth gameplay. More fun and more control than any old school pinball game I've seen and being able to swap in the right element, then curve it in past one guy to blow up the boss keeps it interesting.

And the rewards are RIDICULOUS.

Three highlights from the 10,000 Gil game in Altissia:

A 100 atk accessory
A 250 magic accessory
An item that can either sell for 500,000 Gil or use as a catalyst in a spell. And the catalyst is so good, you'd be nuts to sell it for even that much. For real.

It adds, I think 100 potency. Give or take. And it bumps it up past the -aga's to flare, and not sure what it's called for blizzard and lightning off the top of my head. Mix all three and it's called Maxicast. It also breaks damage limit (my record so far is 62k) AND adds 50 (!) Charges. That is not a typo. A normal spell will give you 3 charges. Some high end catalyst might give you 4 or 5. This will give you 53 charges of break damage limit level 4 spells. And all it'll take is 1 to 2 hours of pinball.

the radio broadcast is a great feature, lol at the niflheim attempts to
manipulate the media in their favor

the speculator and interview recordings are very nice as well

I try to go back to the game but I feel depressed when I do.
I'll just forget about it until they put effort into an above-and-beyond update...if it happens even.
