It appears that they're slowly ticking of all of the things listed in the survey awhile back.

They're slowly but surely doing that based on what they're releasing.

This is good. If they keep their head down, ignore the noise, work at their own pace, and announce things only when they're truly ready, we're looking at a very different FFXV by the end of this year.

*tingles with excitement*
What I like is that this one doesn't clearly check any of those updates. It does something that people wished for they never specified they were doing. People wanted Cerberus, check. I know several people that actually wanted to fight the Lucian Kings, check. Insomnia was one of the biggest things people wanted to explore, even if it is destroyed and obscenely huge. They did update the Armiger abilities though so that was one thing.

It makes me hopeful for what else they have in store beyond Ardyn. I'm really banking on that mid game expansion. It is the most important thing this game needs now.

The DLC updates chapter 14 and extends the ending to the game. You can see the final questline "A Cure for Insomnia" on the side, meaning this affects the main story. Cerberus and the Kings are extra bosses for the main story, you can see they are part of that questline and have objectives tied to them, as well as being between levels 46-53 (so far)
So going off of your response I am going to assume no. Thanks for the help.

Guys, even after two days, I'm still excited about the Chapter 14 update/Insomnia Ruins Expansion, I know I said the second half of FFXV, in it's current form, lacking, but, one of the big important things for me for video games are the final battles/endgames, like in KH2 for example in The World That Never Was and the events that transpired there, or in Horizon Zero Dawn's final chapter. Chapter 14, while it was really nice and interesting, was underwhelming at launch, and there weren't enough cutscenes, and bosses before fighting Ardyn, and Insomnia Ruins, at launch, didn't feel very meaningful and was a bit small and underutilized, and while I enjoyed the ending, I was left with questions, and with this new update to Chapter 14, things are looking to change for me, a bigger Insomnia with more endgame bosses, such as Cerberus and the Kings of Lucis, and potential clarification to the main game's ending, and Cor's involvement, even though he barely grew on me but he could redeem himself here for me, FFXV's endgame in Chapter 14 looks like it's going to be more meaningful, longer, and packed in terms of a final battle, and with a bigger Insomnia Ruins which I'm also excited about, and the thought of that excites me out of all of this so far. I do have my expectations low, of course, but I can't help but be excited for this.

I don't blame you. I'm quite excited for it myself.

I'm getting kinda annoyed at how many people are complaining and saying "this should've been in the game since day one" though.

Well no shit sherlock but they're at least doing something about it and not just abandoning it once it was released, y'know?

Same thing goes for the entitled whiners who keep saying they should get this for free since they bought the season pass.

It was stated, quite clearly, what was going to be in the season pass. Logically speaking, they've got no reason to demand this to be free. Staff and devs need to be paid too.

I wonder how many extra hours of content will be in the royal pack? 5 hours?

Which would have pushed back the release date several years or on the other extreme the content would have been lackluster. The way I see it, if FFXV had not been successful during 2017, then support would have stopped for it by now. If SE and BD2 want to put some of the profits back into the game, I say more power to them as many companies won't do that.

Exactly.

I think people are forgetting that having enough time to work on the royal edition stuff on top of the base game stuff pre release was a factor that needs to be considered.

It wouldn't have been possible.

Its like people still can't fucking take their heads out of the sand and look at the bigger picture.

It was the team's choice to continue extended support based on fan request, they could have ignored that. Hell, they could have passed on even doing any of the year one post-release content in the first place despite making profit anyway, yet they didn't. So here we are until the end of 2018.

I'm personally extremely fed up with the amount of severe dead horse kicking going around whenever those certain group of people react to any latest announced FFXV content, it helps practically no one when one side is hellbent on initiating toxic behavior towards BD2's efforts in giving a damn about their audience/base game. Especially after how much hell they went through with the 2016 deadline schedule + making it clear that what we're receiving right now literally couldn't have been possible back then.

FFXV has put more light on the reality of the situation that people that play games are rarely united. Sadly, for a lot of them if they aren't able to enjoy it then nobody else can at the same time. There is not enough contentment/self-satisfied as many seek conformity as well. I have seen some fairly disgusting remarks made toward some FFXIII fans back when it was the hot topic. Those were dark days indeed. It is unfortunate as I'm sure many would be interested in discussing the newest game and may even be interested in trying out past titles....but the toxicity is off putting and discourages that conversation for a good number of people. The Final Fantasy subreddit is just one example.

If anyone is interested here is a guide to how the game measures dmg output.

TL;DR:
  1. Strenght/Magic stats are more important than the the wepons/spells respective power value.
  2. Any + - % bonus modifiers from gears, accesories, weapons, food buffs, etc, greatly alters your dmg output (and it's why the Zwills Crossblades are broken).
  3. Vitality (phy def) and Spirit (mg def) give disminishing returns, focusing on having more HP and HP regen is far more productive.

The Royal Edition cover looks so much better than the Day One version. Day One and the NieR Automata covers were absolutely woeful.

I wish Square was more consistent with their alternate covers though, XII ZA and XV get them but XIV CE doesn't? Why?
